  • Patent number: 7058901
Abstract: A navigation rectangle controls display of medical images in a multi-display system. Multiple thumbnail sized medical images are displayed on a control panel. Each navigation rectangle encompasses one or more thumbnail size medical images on the control panel. In turn, images, corresponding to the thumbnail size medical images encompassed by the navigation rectangle, are displayed on a monitor that corresponds to the navigation rectangle. The user may fully move the navigation rectangle to select any images within an exam, and the user may resize the navigation rectangle to include or exclude images. The user may move images in and out of the navigation rectangle.

  • Publication number: 20060098344
Abstract: The present invention includes the following. Load beams for head suspension assemblies optimally providing head gimbal assemblies with the ability to minimize the effects of disk vibration from rotating disk surfaces during the track following sequences. Operating at least a head gimbal assembly as follows, when the read-write head is following a track. The sag control region of the load beam adjusts the roll center to coincide with the center of the rotating disk. The head gimbal assembly compensates through the roll center for disk flutter, causing the read-write head to follow the track. This reduces off-track motion, minimizing Track Mis-Registration. Making head suspension assemblies, head gimbal assemblies, actuator arms, actuator assemblies and hard disk drives using these load beams. The components are also products of the invention's manufacturing methods.

  • Patent number: 6938211
Abstract: An image transfer object is disclosed that provides the necessary mechanism to conduct a dynamic transfer operation. The image transfer object includes a static reference to dynamic data. The image data is “dynamic”, in that the user may request additional views of the image. An image recipient computer receives the static reference to identify a source image on a server, and generates a first request, based on the static reference, for a view of the source image to the server. In response, the server transmits data to the image recipient computer. The image recipient computer displays the first view of the source image for viewing by the user. The user may then select a different portion of the source image, and/or a different resolution to designate a second view of the source image. The image recipient computer generates a second request to the image server for the second view, and the image server transmits additional data to generate the second view of the source image.

  • Patent number: 6876894
Abstract: A method and apparatus for simulating the functioning of various configurations of fabrication and test equipment within a manufacturing line creates a schedule for dispatching of the production lots to the manufacturing line. Based on the product mix forecast, the product volume forecast, the predicted sales schedule, the sales confidence, the actual sales order descriptions, and the product delivery schedule, a potential product dispatch schedule is established that enables a product to be fabricated within the manufacturing line. An equipment dispatch schedule for equipment employed in fabrication and testing of the product to be fabricated is defined according to the product dispatch schedule. The potential product dispatch schedule is then simulated based on the process and test equipment model. Upon completion of the simulation, the potential product dispatch schedule is assessed for optimization.

  • Publication number: 20050007688
Abstract: A hard disk drive that controls the movement of a head to an off-disk position while minimizing impact between an actuator arm and a crash stop of the drive. The disk drive includes a control circuit that can perform an off-disk routine that moves the head from a middle diameter to an outer diameter of the disk. Movement of the head across the disk can be accomplished with feedback information from Gray codes of the disk, or a back emf of the voice coil motor that moves the actuator arm. The head is then decelerated as the actuator arm moves toward the crash stop. This deceleration minimizes the impact between the actuator arm and the stop.

  • Publication number: 20040179304
Abstract: The invention includes a yolk assembly containing a top and a bottom proximity latch magnet. The invention includes a voice coil attached to a voice coil bias steel. The crash stop includes a magnetic proximity latch created by the voice coil bias steel attracted to the top and bottom proximity latch magnets. It may also include using the magnetic proximity latch with a magnetically weakened contact latch. Experiments have shown that the combined magnetic proximity latch and the magnetically weakened contact latch require significantly less initial releasing force than the prior art crash stops, and meet rotary shock requirements. The invention includes making the actuator assembly, the voice coil motor assembly, and the CSS hard disk drive. The invention includes operating the CSS hard disk drive with at least the magnetic proximity latch.

  • Publication number: 20040179744
Abstract: A dynamic transfer syntax efficiently transfers data, including large data images, from a server to at least one client. Source data is transformed into a hierarchical representation. The hierarchical representation, consisting of essentially non-redundant data, is a plurality of levels of transform data, such that a level of the hierarchical representation comprises transform data sufficient to reconstruct the source data at a resolution corresponding to the level. The server transfers transform data from a level of the hierarchical representation corresponding to a desired resolution. To render a new view of the source image at the client, the client requests from the server coefficients of the transform data necessary to reconstruct the new view. In response to the request, the server transfers to the client the additional transform data, and the client reconstructs the new view from the coefficients transferred. A medical imaging application for the dynamic transfer syntax is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6771451
Abstract: A method for centering the disk of a disk stack assembly. The method includes the step of applying a torque to the disk stack and spinning the disks. Both the torque and the spinning speed are less than normal operating values. A series of radial forces may then be applied to the disk stack. The series of forces will cause the rotating disks to self center. The rotating disks are eventually spun down and a full torque is applied to the disk stack to secure the disks.

  • Publication number: 20040100725
Abstract: A spacer assembly for a spindle motor of a hard disk drive. The spacer assembly separates a first disk from a second disk of the disk drive. The spacer assembly includes a first layer of damping material located between a washer and a spacer. The first layer of damping material damps vibration that is transmitted through the spacer assembly and into the disk. Damping vibration reduces track mis-registration in the disk drive due to mechanical vibration.
