    Abstract: Calibration of components of a liquid handling system are provided. As the accuracy of the components of the liquid handling system enable operations of such components, each of a moveable stage and associated attachments (e.g., pipette) and a material handling gripper system are calibrated from time-to-time. In the case of the moveable stage and associated attachments, an affixed calibration probe may be used to locate a particular spatial location at a calibration target slot. In the case of the material handling gripper system, an affixed calibration pin similarly may be used to locate a particular spatial location at a calibration target slot. Based on the movements of the moveable stage and associated attachments and the material handling gripper system to move to and find the particular spatial location, each of these systems may be calibrated.

    Abstract: Methods and systems of PFAS destruction in water containing nitrate. The methods and systems include filtering water containing PFAS and nitrate through a membrane selective for PFAS to obtain a membrane reject containing PFAS and nitrate and a filtrate containing nitrate, forming a treatment solution using the membrane reject including diluting the membrane reject and combining the membrane reject with a photosensitizer, a sulfite salt, and a sufficient amount of base such that the treatment solution has a pH of about 10 or more, and irradiating the treatment solution with UV light in a photoreactor to destroy a portion of the PFAS. Before dilution, a concentration of PFAS in the membrane reject may be between about 3 times and about 20 times greater than before the filtering step. Dilution of the membrane reject may include between about a 3 and about a 20 times dilution.

    Abstract: An improved method and system for heating and cooling an electronic device, when internal temperatures are below safe operating ranges. To do so, the system selectively heats or cools each zone of the electronic device. This may be done by individual heaters and/or cooling system for each separate zones. Alternatively, or in addition too, the system can selectively open and close baffles, causing fresh ambient air to enter and/or recirculate heated air in a device's enclosure. This keeps sensitive components of the computing device, such as processors and memory from suffering damage, by operating them at temperatures that are either too cold or too warm.

    Abstract: A backflow preventer for preventing a reverse flow of water in a plumbing system including a body having an inlet and an outlet. The body forms an intermediate zone between the inlet and outlet. An inlet check valve prevents the reverse flow of water from the intermediate zone through the inlet. An outlet check valve prevents the flow of water from the outlet into the intermediate zone. An inlet pressure sensor, an intermediate pressure sensor and an outlet pressure sensor provide readings for the respective zones. A controller monitors a pressure differential between the outlet pressure zone and the intermediate pressure zone to compare the pressure differential to a pre-set range. The controller generates a warning/error message when the pressure differential is outside the pre-set range. The controller can also monitor an inlet pressure in the inlet zone to generate a message if the inlet pressure varies inappropriately.

An electrically-conductive clip coupled to the second lead includes an arm biased to electrical contact with an external surface of the detonator body to shunt the detonator. The arm is moveable away from the detonator body to un-shunt the detonator, such as automatically in response to insertion into a detonator housing.
