Abstract: A computer program product includes a computer usable memory, storage medium or physical medium having computer usable program code embodied therewith, the computer usable program code including: computer usable program code configured to receive a message from a client electronic device in a first format configured to be communicated over a first communication channel; computer usable program code configured to modify the message in the first format to form a message in a second format configured to be communicated over a second communication channel, the message in the second format based upon at least in part, the message in the first format; and computer usable program code configured to transmit the message in the second format over the second communication channel.

Abstract: A method, software tool and system for communicating data between components in a client computer system is provided. The client computer system has a user interface for displaying a page comprising content rendered by a plurality of components. A property broker is provided which maintains a registry of linked source and destination data fields of components of the client computer system. The property broker is notified when a user request is detected by a component registered with the property broker, and a set of components registered with the property broker is then notified of the start of a communication phase. The user request is processed by the actioned component and the value of each source data field updated during processing of the user request is communicated to each component having a linked destination data field. The property broker notifies the set of components when the communications phase has ended, and at least one component then renders content for display.

Abstract: A noise and vibration reduction system for an engine affixed to a body and a method for reducing vibrations in the body produced by that engine during operation. The present invention is particularly related to noise and vibration reduction in auxiliary power units installed on long-haul trucks and similar types of transportation vehicles. The primary noise and vibration reduction components of the present invention include an air intake silencer, a vibration tuner, and an engine speed limiter.

Abstract: A method and system for accessing declined invitations is provided. The method includes receiving notification of an available time slot, retrieving stored declined event invitations, and presenting the declined event invitations to a user. The user can accept of a previously declined event invitation for the available time slot. When the user receives an event invitation and declines the event invitation, the method includes saving the declined event invitation to a data store from which it may be retrieved. Stored declined event invitations are deleted once the time of the event has passed.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for targeting the delivery of advertisements over a network such as the Internet are disclosed. Statistics are compiled on individual users and networks and the use of the advertisements is tracked to permit targeting of the advertisements of individual users. In response to requests from affiliated sites, an advertising server transmits to people accessing the page of a site an appropriate one of the advertisement based upon profiling of users and networks.

Abstract: A hand tool having first and second plier units attached to one another where a jaw region is operatively configured to have a work piece to be placed therein and a handle region is configured to be used by the user of the tool to grasp the work piece. A tension member is provided to be positioned past a dead point axis so as to apply a clamping force upon the jaw member and the hand tool maintains a grip upon the work piece without continuous interaction with the user of the tool.

Abstract: Enabling the management of biometric data, including and not limited to blood pressure readings taken on automated kiosks, which is stored on personal Smart Cards and synchronized to a database via a secure network. Also, enabling the providers of automated blood pressure readings, such as pharmacies, corporate work sites, health clubs and other customers, to charge a fee for the long-term use of a memory card to record non-invasive physiological test data and make the data available for health consultations. In an automated blood pressure system with one or more memory-card interface devices, a custom-formatted end-user memory card keeps track of the user's non-invasive physiological test data, and a recharge memory card controls the provider's recharging of the end-user memory card after the end-user memory card expires. The contents of the recharge memory card are updated in order to track its use by the provider of the readings.

Abstract: A portable communications device (1) for wearing by a person and for use in conjunction with a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone (3) for communicating a signal indicative of the existence of an emergency to a base station comprises a pendant shaped housing (5) within which is located a first interface circuit (12) which comprises a pair of activating switches (14) operable by panic buttons (15) for facilitating inputting a signal to the device (1) indicative of the existence of an emergency. A microprocessor (18) reads signals from the first interface circuit (12) and reads the last determined position of the device from a GPS positioning circuit (8) in the housing (5), and also reads the identity of the device (1), a phone number of the base station to which a message indicative of the emergency is to be communicated and a message indicative of the emergency from a programmable memory (10).

When a request to update a sent message is received, a message update unit can update information in the message according to the notification. The message update unit can notify a recipient that the message was updated, and can indicate changed information in the sent message. The message update unit can also determine if the sent message has been forwarded, and forward the update notification to other recipients.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to multicomponent fibers. The fibers may be in a side-by-side, sheath-core, segmented pie, islands-in-the-sea configuration, or any combination of configurations. Each component of the fiber will comprise destructurized starch and/or a thermoplastic polymer. The present invention is also directed to nonwoven webs and disposable articles comprising the multicomponent fibers. The nonwoven webs may also contain other synthetic or natural fibers blended with the multicomponent fibers of the present invention.

Abstract: Collisions are detected between multiple instant messages that are sent to a given user at the same time. In response to detecting a collision, the sending users are put into a real-time, on-line negotiation that enables the sending users to determine among themselves whose instant message will be delivered next to the receiving user. This allows the sending users to make a determination of which message is most important based on their relative needs at the time. A collaborative communication session, such as a group chat, is initiated for the negotiating sending users so that they can exchange information regarding the purposes of their messages. Based on the results of this on-line negotiation between message senders, a limited number (e.g. one) of the colliding messages are next delivered to the receiving user.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for managing administrative data transfers to/from hosted applications. Administrative data transfers (ADT) include: application maintenance and electronic data transfers (EDT). In an embodiment of the invention an application manager is provided for managing a plurality of host servers each hosting a corresponding application accessible to clients across a network for the exchange of client data. The application manager manages ADT for at least one of application maintenance of the corresponding application and electronic data transfers (EDT) between selected ones of the clients on the network and selected ones of the plurality of host servers. In an embodiment of the invention a control file manager is disclosed which is accessible to an administrative member of each group of clients for managing setup, scheduling and execution of control files for each client group. Each control file defines an ADT with a data source, a data target, and a schedule for effecting the ADT.
