  • Publication number: 20190066114
Abstract: A system and method for registration and processing point of sale purchases, billing and transaction requests using biometric authentication is provided. The system is configured such that upon registration of a user token on a mobile device, an associated financial account server is prevented from processing any transaction requests against the associated account without confirmation and receipt of a user token from a server. The system interacts with the mobile device to verify a biometric identifier before transmission of the user token from a server that interacts with a second server of the financial institution associated with the account before processing a transaction request. The system also includes methods to configure multiple point of sale systems at retail locations to communicate and process payment requests through the system.

  • Publication number: 20190038324
Abstract: Minimally invasive methods and devices for introducing a spinal fixation element into a surgical site in a patient's spinal column are provided. In general, the method involves advancing a spinal fixation element in a first, lengthwise orientation along a pathway extending from a minimally invasive percutaneous incision to a spinal anchor site. As the spinal fixation element approaches the spinal anchor site, the fixation element can be manipulated to extend in a second orientation, which is preferably substantially transverse to the first orientation, to position the fixation element in relation to one or more spinal anchors.

  • Publication number: 20180363933
Abstract: A system for distributing conditioned air to a plurality of zones. The system includes an indoor heat transfer unit for thermally conditioning air and a plurality of fans which are operably connected to the indoor heat transfer unit to draw a volume of thermally conditioned air from the indoor heat transfer unit and direct the volume of the thermally conditioned air to a plurality of zones. The plurality of fans continuously monitor and control the volume of thermally conditioned air directed to each of the plurality of zones. Each of the plurality of fans are independently operable.

  • Publication number: 20180125541
Abstract: Minimally invasive methods and devices are provided for positioning a spinal fixation element in relation to adjacent spinal anchors. In an exemplary embodiment, the device is a percutaneous access device that can be coupled to a spinal anchor, and the method includes the step of positioning a spinal fixation element through at least one sidewall opening of at least two percutaneous access devices such that the spinal fixation element extends in a lengthwise orientation that is substantially transverse to the longitudinal axis of each percutaneous access device. The spinal fixation element can then be advanced in the lengthwise orientation to seat the spinal fixation element in or adjacent to the receiver heads of at least two adjacent spinal anchors. A fastening element or other closure mechanism can then be applied to each spinal anchor to engage the spinal fixation element within the receiver heads of the adjacent anchors.

  • Patent number: 9795415
Abstract: A spinal anchor assembly for securing a spinal fixation element has an anchor element adapted for attachment to bone. The anchor element has an opening for receiving a spinal fixation element and side walls on opposed sides of the opening with a plurality of inferior surfaces defined on the side walls. A twist-lock closure closes the opening and captures the spinal fixation element. A locking element can be provided on the closure element and the anchor element. The locking element can be configured so that when the closure element is rotated from the open position to the closed position, the locking element engages to deter the closure element from twisting back to the open position.

  • Patent number: 9656591
Abstract: A securing strap having at least two strap securing interfaces that functions in combination with a ratcheting device. The strap has a first end, a second end, an inner surface, an outer surface, an upper edge, and a lower edge. The first end of the strap is looped around a strap attachment rod on the ratcheting device and extends back over a section of the strap allowing the two strap sections to be attached. At intervals along the two attached strap sections, attachment means are used to create openings, into which the at least two strap securing intervals and at least one strap securing member are inserted when securing an object. Once the strap is inserted through the ratcheting device, the two securing interfaces and the at least one securing member, the strap remains in place securing the object even if the ratcheting device fails.

  • Patent number: 9495069
Abstract: A method for providing expanded icon functionality includes displaying a primary icon using a display device. The primary icon is associated with a primary icon function in a storage device and the primary icon function is performed in response to a first user action directed to the primary icon. A second user action that is different from the first user action is received that is directed to the primary icon and, in response, at least one secondary icon that is associated with the primary icon and the second user action in the storage device is retrieved. The at least one secondary icon is displayed using the display device. Each at least one secondary icon is associated with a respective secondary icon function in the storage device, and in response to a selection of a secondary icon, the respective secondary icon function is performed.
