  • Publication number: 20180371798
Abstract: An electric strike having a keeper arranged to pivot about a shaft extending in a longitudinal direction, a lock lever for locking the keeper in a door-locking position, the lock lever being arranged to pivot about a second shaft extending in a direction that is transverse to the longitudinal direction and parallel to the backside of the strike; and an actuation mechanism for actuating the lock lever. The strike is provided with a bearing element arranged to bear against the lock lever. The bearing element acts as a stop against possible lateral motions of the lock lever. Such motions may be induced by trying to force open the door lock when the lock lever is in the locking position. By providing the bearing element, it is avoided that the forces due to these lateral motions are exerted onto the second shaft that connects the lock lever to the strike.

  • Publication number: 20180371796
Abstract: A surface-mountable electric strike having a keeper arranged to pivot about a first shaft extending in a longitudinal direction; a lock lever for locking the keeper in a door-locking position, the lock lever being arranged to pivot about a second shaft extending in a direction that is transverse to the longitudinal direction and parallel to the backside of the strike; and an actuation mechanism for actuating the lock lever, the actuation mechanism comprising an electromagnet that is situated next to the lock lever in a direction which is substantially perpendicular to the backside of the strike thereby enabling the electromagnet to act directly upon the lock lever providing a simple construction. Moreover, the orientation of the second shaft enables arranging the lock lever, and the electromagnet, above and/or underneath the keeper, thereby reducing the total depth of the strike.

  • Publication number: 20180371797
Abstract: An electric strike having two keepers arranged to pivot about respective shafts extending in a longitudinal direction, a lock lever for locking the keepers in a door-locking position, the lock lever being arranged to pivot about a second shaft extending in a direction that is transverse to the longitudinal direction and parallel to the backside of the strike; and an actuation mechanism for actuating the lock lever. The keepers form side walls of a bolt cavity and are arranged to pivot between a door-locking position and a door-releasing position. Therefore, the bolt may exit the cavity in two directions, e.g., a first direction for a left-handed closure member and a second direction for a right-handed closure member. The strike can thus be mounted in the same orientation for both left-handed and right-handed closure members.

  • Publication number: 20170122019
Abstract: A closing device includes a torque storing mechanism, a first and a second actuation member which are both rotatable with respect to the supporting frame and a mechanical connector piece which is rotatable with respect to the supporting frame and configured for being mechanically fixed to the second hinge member which is fixed to the closure member. A first locking mechanism enables to lock the mechanical connector piece either to the first actuation member or to the second actuation member and a second locking mechanism enables to lock the supporting frame to the second actuation member when the connector piece is locked to the first actuation member and to the first actuation member when the connector piece is locked to the second actuation member. In this way, the closing device is suited for left and right turning closure members without requiring an extra gearing to reverse the rotation direction.

  • Patent number: 8905218
Abstract: A control assembly for controlling rotation of a turnstile, includes a torque-restoring mechanism (13) with springs (20), a motion converting transmission with a multiplying gearing (56, 57) converting a rotation of the turnstile over 120° into a rotation of the rotary shaft entering the hydraulic damper (26) over 180°. The hydraulic damper (26) has two pistons mounted onto a single piston rod. A cam or crank mechanism converts rotation of the rotary shaft into reciprocating motion of the two pistons. The first piston damps the rotary movement of the turnstile when moving in one direction while the other piston damps this movement when the pistons move in the other direction, therefore damping the turnstile in both directions. A motion converting transmission in combination with a double-piston mechanism avoids any loss of hydraulic fluid, while achieving a gradually increasing damping force to effectively stop the rotation of the turnstile.

  • Patent number: 8752244
Abstract: The present invention relates to a mechanism for closing a hinged member which comprises a resilient element for effecting closure of the hinged member and a hydraulic damper 5. The hydraulic damper 5, comprising a closed cylinder cavity 20 within a cylinder barrel 19, a rotational damper shaft 22 which extends into the cylinder cavity 20, and a piston 21, placed within the cylinder barrel 19 so as to divide the cylinder cavity 20 into a first side 20a above the piston 21 and a second side 20b below the piston 21. An outer perimeter surface of the piston 21 presents a clearance fit with an inner perimeter surface 27 of the cylinder barrel 19 at 20° C. The cylinder barrel 19 is made of a first material and the piston 21 of a second material which has a higher thermal expansion coefficient than the first material. In this way variations of the viscosity of the hydraulic fluid as a result of pressure fluctuations are compensated for by an increase or a decrease of the cross-section area of the clearance.

The first piston damps the rotary movement of the turnstile when moving in one direction whilst the other piston damps this movement when the pistons move in the other direction. The movement of the turnstile is thus damped in both of its rotation directions.
