  • Patent number: 8382478
Abstract: A method is disclosed for forming an accurate stone cast from an impression of a body region, used for the purpose of prosthetic fabrication, such as dental crowns and artificial eyes and hearing aids. The initial step with this unique method is to first acquire a suitable amount of dental stone catalyst. One type of a suitable stone catalyst is calcium sulfate dihydrate. The dental stone catalyst is engaged onto the internal surface of the impression. This catalyst, placed in the area between impression material and stone, will act to hasten the initial setting of wet, mixed dental stone that is in closest proximity to the impression. The result is a stratified set of the stone. Setting of the wet, mixed dental stone occurs first at the impression/stone interface. The mixed stone better resists distortion upon setting and the resultant set stone cast is more accurate.

  • Patent number: 8131924
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide mechanisms for improving storage consumption on a sequential access medium, such as a physical tape, by preferably storing one instance of a data block of a backup data set on the tape media. When another instance of a data block is received having the same pattern as the stored data block, rather than storing the data block itself, a reference to the data block is stored on the sequential access medium. When data are restored, data blocks are cached at a block store on a storage device(s) having a faster seek time than the tape. When a reference to a previously stored data block is read from the tape, rather than re-winding the tape to search for the data block on the tape (which might take a long time to locate), the referenced data block can be found on the storage device having a faster seek time than the tape media.

  • Patent number: 8125164
Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and computer storage media provide for the establishment of a parallel motor controller architecture and the dynamic reconfiguration of the architecture to redirect power to various motors according to the changing power load requirements of the motors. According to embodiments described herein, the present power load requirement for each motor of a group of motors is determined. The number of motor controllers to connect to each motor to provide the present power load requirement is then determined. A power switching network that connects the motor controllers to the motors is configured to connect the determined number of motor controllers to the corresponding motors. As the power load requirements of the motors changes, the power switching network is dynamically reconfigured to redirect power accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20100279254
Abstract: A method is disclosed for forming an accurate stone cast from a dental hydrocolloid impression, used for the purpose of prosthetic fabrication, such as dental prostheses. The dental stone catalyst, calcium sulfate dihydrate, is engaged onto the internal surface of set hydrocolloid impression. This catalyst, placed in the area between impression material and wet, mixed stone, will act to hasten the initial setting of dental stone that is in closest proximity to the impression. The result is a stratified set of the stone. Setting of the wet, mixed dental stone occurs first at the impression/stone interface. The setting radiates outwardly, away from the impression/stone interface. The mixed stone better resists distortion upon setting and the resultant set stone cast is more accurate.

  • Publication number: 20100176968
Abstract: The present invention provides a communication device for use with a power line communication system. One embodiment of the present invention forms a communication device that comprises a first wireless modem, a controller, a second modem, and a sensor module. The controller operates the sensor module to take power line parameter measurements such as measurements of the voltage and/or current, which may be wirelessly transmitted to a remote device by the first modem. In addition, the controller may compare the measurements with thresholds and transmit notifications if a measurement is beyond a threshold. Data may be received from one or more user devices, such as utility meters or computers, by the second modem and wirelessly transmitted upstream by the first modem.
