  • Publication number: 20080034183
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for updating pointers in memory are described. A device can include pointer logic and a memory that stores a memory pointer. The pointer logic can increment or decrement the memory pointer according to Gray code. The device can increment or decrement the memory pointer in response to a pointer change command and can be configured to first verify a password associated with the command. The device can send an acknowledgement that the command has been received and/or executed. Multiple increments or decrements of the memory pointer can occur in response to a pointer change command configured as a single multiple-increment-or-decrement command or as multiple single-increment-or-decrement change commands. The device can determine an updated value for each of a first memory pointer portion and a second memory pointer portion of the memory pointer.

  • Publication number: 20080001725
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for preventing unauthorized reading of data stored in tags are described. A non-identifying bit pattern, an identifying bit pattern, and a first passcode are stored in the tag. A read lock command is received by the tag. The tag determines whether a second passcode associated with the read lock command matches the first passcode. Read access to the identifying bit pattern is disabled if it is determined that the second passcode matches the first passcode.

  • Publication number: 20080001724
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for preventing unauthorized reading of identifying data stored in tags are described. A secure access identification number and associated read lock password are received. The secure access identification number and associated read lock passcode are transferred to the tag. The tag stores the secure access identification number and read lock passcode. A read lock command is transmitted to the tag. The tag is locked from being read for selected information, such as identifying information and user information, by the read lock command. In a further aspect, the secure access identification number is read from the read locked tag. The secure access identification number is associated with a passcode. The passcode is transmitted to the read locked tag. The tag disables the read lock if the passcode matches the previously received read lock password.

  • Publication number: 20070286233
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transferring data between IP devices (including, but not limited to, Gigabit Ethernet devices) and SCSI or Fibre Channel devices. The device interfaces may be either SCSI, Fibre Channel or IP interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet. Data is switched between SCSI and IP, Fibre Channel and IP, or between SCSI and Fibre Channel. Data can also be switched from SCSI to SCSI, IP to IP and FC to FC. The port interfaces provide the conversion from the input frame format to an internal frame format, which can be routed within the apparatus. The amount of processing performed by each port interface is dependent on the interface type. The processing capabilities of the present invention permit rapid transfer of information packets between multiple interfaces at latency levels meeting the stringent requirements for storage protocols.

  • Publication number: 20070276560
Abstract: The Internet provides communication between a plurality of service sites and a plurality of equipment sites at which equipment needing periodic service and emergency service are operated. Each piece of equipment includes a sensor array and a manual actuator that is activated when an abnormal mode of operation of the equipment is experienced. When the manual actuator on a piece of equipment is actuated, the equipment's operating conditions that are sensed by the sensor array are stored in memory. Later, when a request to service the equipment is sent from an equipment site to a service site, the service site queries the equipment site as to equipment symptoms. Upon receiving this query, an operator at the equipment site causes the symptoms stored in memory to be transmitted to the service site. Based upon the symptoms received at the service site, a service plan for the equipment is formulated.

  • Publication number: 20070244657
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for testing antenna(s) of a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag are described. A reader transmits a test command signal to a RFID tag having a plurality of antennas. Each antenna of the plurality of antennas is coupled to a respective antenna port. The tag processes the test command signal to determine which one or more of the plurality of antennas is to be tested. The tag couples an information signal to the antenna port(s) corresponding with the antenna(s) to be tested. For example, the tag may include enabling elements that selectively couple the information signal to respective antenna ports based on respective test control signals. The RFID tag generates the test control signals based on the test command signal. The reader awaits receipt of the information signal from the RFID tag.

  • Publication number: 20060167220
Abstract: The formation of inactive, insoluble forms of peptide can be minimized or, alternatively, inactive, insoluble forms of peptide compounds, if present, can be converted into more physiologically active, soluble forms by dissolving peptide samples in aqueous base and then acidifying the aqueous mixture to precipitate the peptide in the presence of at least one of a salt and a co-solvent. Preferably, both a salt and co-solvent are present. By carrying out the precipitation relatively rapidly (at least in a first stage of acidifying in which the pH of the alkaline medium is reduced to a pH in the range of 6 to 7.5, after which acidification to a final desired pH, e.g., 3 to 6, can occur more slowly) at relatively low temperature, the dissolution characteristics of the resultant precipitated peptide are even further improved. The process is robust, consistent, and suitable for commercial scale manufacture of peptides.
