  • Publication number: 20160163219
Abstract: According to some embodiments, a reading comprehension apparatus comprises a processor, an optimized reading comprehension display, and a selection tool to select text within a digitized portion of a written work. A word ranking engine ranks each word from the selected text, via the processor. A filtering engine identifies a plurality of top-ranked words within the selected text and an animation engine animates and displays each of the top-ranked words identified by the processor in a sequential manner on the optimized reading comprehension display. Furthermore, the animation engine displays a presentation of the selected text including the top-ranked words in a highlighted manner.

  • Patent number: 8662764
Abstract: In a method of controlling a gaze direction of a camera, the camera is placed on a top surface of a substrate that is pivotally coupled to a frame, wherein a movement arm depends downwardly from the substrate. The movement arm is moved with two spaced apart amplified piezoelectric ceramic stack actuators that are affixed to the frame and coupled to the movement arm by deforming the amplified piezoelectric ceramic stack actuators as a result of applying a voltage thereto, thereby changing an angular orientation of the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20120137560
Abstract: Provided herein are a gun stock having a memento cylinder for receipt of a reminder of a deceased person or pet and a method of memorializing a deceased person or pet within a gun stock. The reminder may be the cremated remains of the deceased loved one or may be an article belonging to the deceased. The memento cylinder includes an end cap, which may include a glass viewing port through which the contents may be seen. The gun stock also includes a mechanism for limiting movement of the memento cylinder within the gun stock. The cylinder may be engraved with the name or initials, birth and death dates or years, a likeness of the deceased, or other information about, or messages honoring, the deceased. • Patent number: 7279505
Abstract: The present invention provides a radiation-curable prepolymer. The radiation-curable prepolymer of the invention is prepared by reacting an isocyanate-capped polyurethane with an ethylenically unsaturated amine or an ethylenically unsaturated monohydroxy compound or a mixture thereof, wherein the isocyanate-capped polyurethane is a copolymerization production of: (a) at least one polyalkylene glycol; (b) at least one branching agent having at least three hydroxy groups; and (c) at least one di- or polyisocyanate. The radiation-curable prepolymer of the invention can find use in economically producing contact lenses which have durable, highly elastic soft contact lenses with desired physical properties. In addition, the present invention provides method for making a radiation-curable prepolymer of the invention and for making a medical device, preferably an ophthalmic device, more preferably a contact lens.

  • Patent number: 7248047
Abstract: A trailer for housing a mobile MRI system has magnetic shielding in the form of a plurality of sheets of magnetic material which are supported within the trailer, by a rigid supporting structure or frame. The layers are arranged in a stacked or laminar configuration with the laterally longest layer disposed inward of the remaining layers, such that the width of the gap between that layer and the exterior walls of the trailer at the lateral extremities of the shielding is greater than its width in a central area. The rigid frame maintains the gap and prevents contacting of the shielding and the trailer walls.
