  • Patent number: 9808359
Abstract: Endovascular treatment of, for example, delayed cerebral vasospasm involves the placing of a microcatheter in the affected vessels followed by the teachings of the instant disclosure, which is clinically improved with comparison to slow infusion of a vasodilating compound. Systems, processes and self-expanding designed stents and stent-like members are featured and highlighted. The stents and stent-like members being retrieved, nothing is left in the vessel. Drug-eluting stents, resorbable stents and angiographically imagable coatings, including tantalum brushes over part or all of subject system components are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20170304098
Abstract: A modular catheter system including a sheath projecting distally from a delivery catheter having a main body module. An inner core module carrying a stent thereon, the inner core being axially movable through the main body of the delivery catheter and the delivery catheter sheath, a handle member supported by the main body of the delivery catheter, the handle member being selectively axially engageable with the inner core such that the handle member and the inner core move together in an axial direction when the handle member is engaged with the inner core; and an adjustment member supported by the main body, the adjustment member being configured such that rotation of the adjustment member causes the adjustment member to move axially along the main body by either axially sliding the handle member relative to the main body or by rotating the adjustment member.

  • Publication number: 20160114883
Abstract: Active superhydrophobic surface structures are actively-controlled surface structures exhibiting a superhydrophobic state and an ordinary state. Active superhydrophobic surface structures comprise an outer elastomeric covering defining an exposed surface, a controlled group of MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical system) actuators at least covered by the elastomeric covering, and, a controlled region of the exposed surface corresponding to the controlled group. The controlled region has a superhydrophobic state in which the controlled region is textured. The controlled region also has an ordinary state in which the controlled region is smooth (i.e., less textured than in the superhydrophobic state). Active superhydrophobic surface structures may be part of an apparatus that includes a controller and/or one or more sensors. The controller, sensors, and the controlled region may form a feedback loop in which the active superhydrophobic surface is actively controlled.
