  • Publication number: 20170370579
Abstract: A system for flare combustion control includes a sound speed measurement device for measuring sound speed in a flare vent gas, and a flare combustion controller including a memory and a processor. The processor is configured to receive the measured sound speed and determine, based on the measured sound speed, a molecular weight of the flare vent gas. The processor is further configured to determine, based on the determined molecular weight, a net heating value of the flare vent gas, and adjust the net heating value of the flare vent gas by regulating an amount of a supplemental fuel gas in the flare vent gas.

  • Publication number: 20170372071
Abstract: In some embodiments, a processor can receive an input string associated with a potentially malicious artifact and convert each character in the input string into a vector of values to define a character matrix. The processor can apply a convolution matrix to a first window of the character matrix to define a first subscore, apply the convolution matrix to a second window of the character matrix to define a second sub score and combine the first subscore and the second subscore to define a score for the convolution matrix. The processor can provide the score for the convolution matrix as an input to a machine learning threat model, identify the potentially malicious artifact as malicious based on an output of the machine learning threat model, and perform a remedial action on the potentially malicious artifact based on identifying the potentially malicious artifact as malicious.

  • Patent number: 9852297
Abstract: An apparatus can include a processor that can extract, from an input binary file, an image data structure, and can scale the image data structure to a predetermined size, and/or modify the image data structure to represent a grayscale image. The processor can calculate a modified pixel value for each pixel in the image data structure, and can define a binary vector based on the modified pixel value for each pixel in the image data structure. The processor can also identify a set of nearest neighbor binary vectors for the binary vector based on a comparison between the binary vector and a set of reference binary vectors stored in a malware detection database. The processor can then determine a malware status of the input binary file based on the set of nearest neighbor binary vectors satisfying a similarity criterion associated with a known malware image from a known malware file.

  • Patent number: 9817477
Abstract: Techniques and systems described herein locate possibly-significant portions of electronic documents. In some examples, gaze movements, e.g., of users' eyes, are tracked while the users read a formatted version of an electronic document. The gaze movement may be analyzed to determine if a reading interruption occurs (e.g., a reading pause or irregularity in a regular reading rate for the user). The reading interruption may occur when the user, while reading, encounters or notices a problem or point of interest in the text. A reading location associated with the reading interruption may be determined in text that is currently displayed. The reading location may be mapped to a location in a standard version of the document. The location may be reported to a centralized entity where statistical analysis can be performed to determine if there is a problem in the document.

  • Patent number: 9792178
Abstract: A magazine-based data storage library is described that essentially provides a first tape cartridge adapted to retain first data and first metadata, a second tape cartridge adapted to retain second data and second metadata, a random access storage memory, such as a hard disk drive, whereon parity of the first data and the second data along with the first metadata and second metadata is retained. It is not required that the first data and the second data be written in parallel. The parity data on the random access storage memory is transferred to a parity tape, which can be used to reconstruct any data lost from either the first tape cartridge or the second tape cartridge.
