  • Publication number: 20170168741
Abstract: A magazine-based data storage library in connection with a disk drive-based archive storage system is described that essentially generates parity data for tape formatted data streams (stored to tape cartridges) that do not align by way of data blocks or file marks. Data streams intended for tape storage sent to tape cartridges are also sent to a disk drive storage system via an encoder where parity of the data streams can be generated. More specifically, the encoder digitally formats tape blocks and tape marks (as well as other tape formatted structure) in a digital stream of data that can be added to other encoded digital streams of data to generate parity. To reconstruct a specific tape cartridge from a tape set, the encoded data from each of the tapes in the tape set are subtracted from the parity data and the remaining encoded data is decoded and sent to a designated tape cartridge.

  • Patent number: 9672358
Abstract: An apparatus can include a processor that can extract, from an input binary file, an image data structure, and can scale the image data structure to a predetermined size, and/or modify the image data structure to represent a grayscale image. The processor can calculate a modified pixel value for each pixel in the image data structure, and can define a binary vector based on the modified pixel value for each pixel in the image data structure. The processor can also identify a set of nearest neighbor binary vectors for the binary vector based on a comparison between the binary vector and a set of reference binary vectors stored in a malware detection database. The processor can then determine a malware status of the input binary file based on the set of nearest neighbor binary vectors satisfying a similarity criterion associated with a known malware image from a known malware file.

  • Patent number: 9651469
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to an integrated multi-chip module (MCM) sensor assembly having at least one electrostatic sensor and a circuit board. The electrostatic sensor includes an outer housing with an electrode and an amplifier configured therein. The electrode includes a first end and a second end separated by a predetermined length. The second end includes a sensing face that is substantially flush with an edge of the outer housing. Further, the electrode contains a plurality of electrons configured to respond to one or more charged particles that flow past the sensing face by moving either towards or away from the second end. Thus, the amplifier is electrically coupled to the electrode so as to detect a particle level flowing past the sensing face as a function of the electron movement. Moreover, the circuit board is configured within the outer housing and is electrically coupled to the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20170034197
Abstract: A computer implemented method for detecting malicious events occurring with respect to a blockchain data structure comprising: defining a transaction creation profile according to which transactions can be generated and submitted to the blockchain; submitting a transaction to the blockchain, the transaction causing the generation of a profiler data structure in the blockchain including executable code to generate profile transactions to be submitted to the blockchain according to the transaction creation profile; monitoring the blockchain to identify profile transactions; and comparing identified profile transactions with the transaction creation profile to detect a deviation from the transaction creation profile, such detection corresponding to a malicious event occurring with respect to the blockchain.

  • Publication number: 20170033679
Abstract: A power conversion topology and control method intended for use with a DC bus is disclosed, providing a means to prevent the flow of ground fault current while detecting a fault condition and optionally continuing to operate the DC bus. In one control configuration, a DC-DC power stage with an active current control loop drives differential current to zero, and a separate voltage control loop maintains the desired differential bus voltage. Absolute bus voltage with respect to ground is monitored in order to detect fault conditions. In another configuration, the absolute voltage of the bus with respect to ground is controlled and differential bus current is monitored to detect ground fault conditions.

  • Patent number: 9542399
Abstract: Provided is a system and method for providing removable data storage elements as a cloud based storage system. More specifically, the method achieves this for at least one embodiment by receiving at least one generally random stream of data objects, each data object having at least one identifiable element. The method directs the selection of at least a first identifiable element. The method then orders the stream of data objects against the first identifiable element and disposes the data objects upon at least one of the removable data storage elements in accordance with the ordered stream of data objects. A system for performing the method is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9527713
Abstract: A control system optimized for low-power operation includes an electronic valve controller for controlling a hydraulic valve and a control interface for receiving operating commands from a user and communicating the operating commands to the electronic valve controller. The control interface includes a multi-function single hand control with a plurality of position indicating elements for detecting actuation of the single hand control, a master enable associated with all of the position indicating elements, and a plurality of individual enable elements each associated with one of the position indicating elements. A controller directs operation of the control interface and is configured to sample a position indicating element only if the master enable is asserted and the corresponding individual enable element is asserted. Other aspects of the control system minimize power consumption, including fast sampling that allows the controller to spend more time in a low power mode.
