Publication number: 20080260112Abstract: Mechanisms are disclosed that allow for the use of a false background, or background tone, in voice input in a telephonic call. A voice input may have both voice from a user talking and a background noise input which may be every other noise received at the user's phone. A trigger to use a background tone is received, the background tone is selected and the associated background tone file is retrieved. Then, a combiner combines the voice input with the background tone file. A filter may be used to filter the actual background noise from the voice input. Additionally, background tones may be used in various telephonic networks, including traditional land-line and wireless cellular networks.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 19, 2007Publication date: October 23, 2008Applicant: Cingular Wireless II, LLCInventors: Joshua Scott Wright, Paul Humphries, Jeffrey C. Publication number: 20080091510Abstract: Computer systems, computer program products and methods for surveying a target population are provided. A survey instrument is fielded to a sample population of the target population, where individual members in the sample population are selected from the target population such that the distribution of members in the sample that start the survey instrument provides a probability sampling of the target population for at least one stratification variable. A qualifying population is identified from the sample, where each member in the qualifying population qualifies for the survey instrument based on a response to one or more screener questions in the survey instrument. A total number of members is determined within the target population that the qualifying population represents based on a comparison of the distribution of the qualifying population and the distribution of the target population with respect to the at least one stratification variable.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2006Publication date: April 17, 2008Inventors: Joshua Scott Crandall, Catharine Riegner Crandall

During the program development phase, logistics processes are selected, for the pilot, go-live, and transition phases, to be reviewed during each respective phase. Furthermore, a communication plan is selected to execute between a program developer entity and a program client entity during each respective phase. The new logistics program is piloted during the pilot phase, according to the processes and the communication plan selected for the pilot phase, operated in real-time during the go-live phase, according to the processes and the communication plan selected for the go-live phase, and transitioned to self-sufficient operation during the transition phase, according to the processes and communication plan selected for the transition phase.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2006Publication date: April 3, 2008Inventors: Joshua Scott Duncan, Carl Christian Block, Michael F. Patent number: 7262337Abstract: The present invention relates generally to methods for generating plants having altered phenotypes, and to plants so generated and parts of these plants. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method for modifying a plant so as to produce a plant exhibiting an altered phenotype. Particularly useful altered phenotypes contemplated by the present invention include plants having altered tissue architecture. The present invention further contemplates genetic sequences capable of facilitating the modification of a phenotype of a plant and to sequences complementary thereto and to derivatives of the sequences. Plants and parts of plants, such as flowering and reproductive parts including seeds, also form part of the present invention. The ability to modify the phenotype of a plant may be useful for, inter alia, producing plants with more highly desired characteristics, such as delayed flowering, increased lateral branching, delayed senescence and the like.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2001Date of Patent: August 28, 2007Assignee: The University of QueenslandInventors: Jose Ramon Botella Mesa, Joshua Scott Mylne

Publication number: 20050252999Abstract: A spreader assembly for spreading a material and for mounting in a bed of a truck is disclosed. The assembly includes a hopper and a frame for supporting the hopper in the bed of the truck. The hopper has a length extending between a front end and a rear end sized for placing in the bed of the truck to hold material for spreading and has an outlet spout with an opening for discharging material therefrom. The hopper and the frame are each formed from a thermoplastic material.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2005Publication date: November 17, 2005Applicant: Trynex, Inc.Inventors: Charles Truan, James Truan, Joshua Scott, Paul Mandrik

Patent number: 6953163Abstract: A spreader assembly for spreading a material and for mounting to a bed of a truck is disclosed. The assembly includes a hopper and a frame having an upper rail for supporting the hopper in the bed of the truck. The frame includes a pair of front and rear posts extending downwardly from the upper rail and an upper rail extending in a cantilevered fashion from the rear posts to support the outlet spout outside the bed of the truck. A quick-release connector releasably engages the frame for preventing longitudinal movement within the bed of the truck. A spinner is rotatably attached and is moveable between an operating position and a storage position. The hopper includes a lower portion having a bottom with a first slanted portion having a first slope and a second slanted portion having a second slope with the first slope being different than the second slope.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2002Date of Patent: October 11, 2005Assignee: Trynex, Inc.Inventors: Charles J Truan, James Truan, Joshua Scott, Paul Mandrick

Publication number: 20050168571Abstract: The present invention features a remote viewing device that is capable of improving its operation by removing slack in its control cables and/or by increasing the range of motion of its viewing head. In one embodiment, the method for improving the operation involves removing at least a portion of the slack in at least one control cable attached to a servo motor. The removal of at least a portion of the slack includes changing the position of a servo motor relative to a flexible tube termination block until a specified tension is encountered in at least one of the control cables. The method further includes determining first and second servo control signal values corresponding to no angular deflection and a specified deflection in a viewing head.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2004Publication date: August 4, 2005Applicant: Everest VIT, Inc.Inventors: Raymond Lia, Joshua Scott

The system comprises a base module connected by way of an interconnection module to a handset comprising a unitary display module and control module. The system makes observations by generating light that is caused to impinge on a surface of the interior of the object of interest. An inspection module attached to the handset comprises both a light guide for providing the light to the area of interest, and a selected one of a sensor and a light receiver. The inspection module comprises a steerable tip configured to be located adjacent the area of interest.
