    Abstract: A conical retention ring is provided that includes an annular disc having a central axis, first and second major surfaces facing in substantially opposite directions along the central axis, a radially inner peripheral surface defining a central bore, a radially outer peripheral surface which is axially offset from the radially inner peripheral surface, and a spreading channel which is open from the radially outer peripheral surface to the central bore. The spreading channel allows the annular disc to spread apart to allow the central axis to receive a threaded fastener.

    Abstract: A cable backplane system includes a backplane having a plurality of openings therethrough and a plurality of mounting blocks. A cable rack is coupled to a rear of the backplane and includes a tray having a frame surrounding a raceway. Spacers are coupled to the tray that are secured to corresponding mounting blocks to position the spacers relative to the backplane. Cable connector assemblies are held by the tray. Each cable connector assembly has a plurality of cables extending between at least two cable connectors. The cables are routed in the raceway. Each cable connector assembly is positioned between and supported by corresponding spacers on opposite sides of the cable connector assemblies. The spacers allow limited movement of the cable connectors in at least two directions to allow alignment of the cable connectors within corresponding openings in the backplane.

Stiffeners are coupled to corresponding board areas along a front of the backplane. The stiffeners have bores aligned with corresponding holes in the backplane. A cable rack is coupled to the rear of the backplane. The cable rack has a tray with a frame surrounding a raceway and spacers coupled to the tray that hold corresponding cable connectors. The spacers have guide pins extending therefrom that pass through the holes in the backplane into corresponding bores in the stiffeners to position the spacers relative to the stiffeners and the backplane. The cable connectors are received in the connector opening in the backplane and held in position relative to the backplane by the spacers and stiffeners.

    Abstract: An electrical system includes a bus bar having a plurality of layers including a conductive power layer and a conductive ground layer. The bus bar has a front edge with a plurality of tabs extending therefrom at spaced-apart locations. Each tab includes a power finger extending from the power layer and a ground finger extending from the ground layer. The bus bar also includes a connector shroud coupled to the front edge of the bus bar. The connector shroud has a base, a mating end, and a cavity defined therebetween. The cavity receives one of the tabs through the base. The mating end is configured to mate with an electrical connector. The cavity is configured to receive power and ground contacts of the electrical connector therein for electrical connection to the respective power and ground fingers of the tab.

    Abstract: A ceramic shroud assembly includes a tip shroud having an outer platform supporting at least one seal tooth, a shroud cap less brittle than the outer platform and including a shroud cap base on the outer platform, and clockwise and counter-clockwise facing clockwise and counter-clockwise contact surfaces located at clockwise and counter-clockwise distal ends respectively of the base. A rotor assembly may include a circumferential row of turbine blades made of a ceramic material and extending radially outwardly from a disk of a turbine rotor. The turbine blades include airfoils having the airfoil tip shrouds and the shroud caps at blade tips. The clockwise and counter-clockwise contact surfaces of circumferentially adjacent ones of the shroud caps contact each other. The shroud and the platform may be made of a ceramic or ceramic matrix composite material and the shroud cap may be made of a metallic material.

    Abstract: An on-load tap changer is provided having a plurality of modules, each of which is operable to change taps in a winding of a transformer. A transmission shaft is connected to the modules and is operable upon rotation to effectuate tap changes in the windings. A servo motor rotates the transmission shaft. The servo motor includes a feedback device operable to generate a feedback signal containing information relating to the position of the motor shaft. A servo drive is connected to the servo motor to receive the feedback signal. The servo drive uses the feedback signal to determine and store a total angular displacement of the motor shaft. The servo drive uses the feedback signal and the total angular displacement of the motor shaft to control the operation of the servo motor.

Removable dust caps are coupled to corresponding cable connectors each having a distal end and guide walls extending therefrom that guide mating of the cable rack with the backplane. The distal end of each dust cap is received in a corresponding opening in the backplane. The guide walls guide the cable rack relative to the backplane such that the guide pins of the spacers are aligned with guide holes of the backplane and such that the cable connectors are aligned with the openings of the backplane. The removable dust caps are removed after the cable rack is coupled to the backplane.
