  • Publication number: 20170298766
Abstract: A bearing including a bearing pad and a housing is provided. The bearing pad has a thrust face for supporting a vibration along an axial direction of the bearing. Additionally, the housing is formed integrally using an additive manufacturing process and is attached to or formed integrally with the bearing pad. The housing defines a working gas delivery system for providing a flow of pressurized working gas to the thrust face of the bearing pad and a fluid damper cavity. The fluid damper cavity provides a dampening of the axial vibration supported by the thrust face of the bearing pad along the axial direction.

  • Publication number: 20170298988
Abstract: A bearing includes a bearing pad for supporting a rotary component and a housing attached to or formed integrally with the bearing pad. The housing includes a flexible column extending towards the bearing pad for providing the bearing pad with an airflow. The column supports the bearing pad from a location inward of an outer periphery of the bearing pad along an axial direction of the bearing. With such a configuration, a resistance of the bearing pad along a radial direction of the bearing is less at the outer periphery than a resistance of the bearing pad along the radial direction proximate the column.

  • Patent number: 9750369
Abstract: One embodiment of a device used for Coffee Cupping in which coffee grounds, tea or other sediment to be extracted are mixed with a liquid in a vessel with a narrow section 24 between an upper chamber 20 and a lower chamber 26. After the sediment has settled in the lower chamber, a stopper 28 (attached to a rod 30, and a handle 32) is inserted into the narrow section 24 thereby sealing off the lower chamber 26 and allowing the now sediment-free liquid in the upper chamber 20 to be poured out using the pouring spout 22, into another vessel for tasting. Alternative embodiments are described and shown.

  • Patent number: 9746029
Abstract: A bearing includes a bearing pad for supporting a rotary component and a housing attached to or formed integrally with the bearing pad. The housing defines a first fluid damper cavity positioned adjacent to the bearing pad and a second fluid damper cavity spaced from the first fluid damper cavity. The first and the second fluid damper cavities are in restrictive flow communication. The housing is configured to transfer a fluid from the first fluid damper cavity to the second fluid damper cavity in response to a force acting on the bearing pad to dampen a movement of the bearing pad.

  • Patent number: 9711889
Abstract: A cable backplane system includes a backplane having connector openings receiving corresponding cable connectors therein and a cable tray coupled to the backplane. The cable tray has side walls surrounding a cavity defining a raceway for cables interconnecting corresponding cable connectors. A cable connector grid frame supports the cable connectors and the cable connector grid frame is loaded into the cable tray to position the cable connectors and corresponding cables in the cable tray as a unit. The cable connector grid frame includes side rails and center rails held between the side rails and forming a grid of cable connector openings between the side rails and center rails. The cable connector openings receive corresponding headers of the cable connectors and hold the positions of the headers relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 9270837
Abstract: A system for calibrating a scan module of an automatic document feed (ADF) scanner. The system includes a rotatable frame disposed on a position opposite to an imaging surface of the ADF scanner. An image backer and a calibration surface portion formed along longitudinal portions of the frame extend substantially parallel to the imaging surface. The image backer and calibration surface portion have top surfaces of different reflectivity that respectively does not contact and contacts the imaging surface when the frame is rotated to position the image backer and the calibration surface portion in a field of view of the scan module. A drive mechanism coupled to the frame is controlled by a controller to rotate the frame and selectively position within the field of view of the image capture module the image backer during a scanning operation and the calibration surface portion during a calibration operation.
