  • Publication number: 20170230288
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for confirming the delivery of a data packet in a mesh network by sending an acknowledgement (ACK) to an ingress mesh point (IMP). A mesh network comprises a plurality of mesh points that are wirelessly linked together. A data packet sent by a station (STA) is received by an IMP. A MAC frame is generated for transmission of the data packet and the frame is forwarded to an egress mesh point (EMP) in order to provide a service by the mesh network. The MAC frame includes a field comprising an IMP address and an EMP address. When the EMP, (or optionally an intermediate mesh point), receives a data packet successfully, the EMP or the intermediate mesh point sends an ACK to the IMP or preceding mesh point.

  • Patent number: 9712294
Abstract: A wireless communication system includes an infrastructure device for transmitting and receiving communications to and from a plurality of wireless user terminals. Each wireless user terminal includes a receiver and a controller that receives a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals on a first carrier frequency of a downlink. Each of the plurality of OFDM signals includes carrier frequency assignment information indicating a carrier frequency to transmit uplink data and spatial pattern information indicating a spatial pattern. In response to the carrier frequency assignment information of each of the plurality of OFDM signals, a transmitter and the controller of the wireless user terminal transmit a plurality of uplink signals. Each of the plurality of uplink signals are transmitted on the indicated carrier frequency and using the indicated spatial pattern.

  • Patent number: 9706368
Abstract: Multicast traffic in a communication network may be obtained via subscription. For example, the multicast traffic may be obtained via a local subscription, via a visited domain of a mobile node for example, or a remote subscription, via a home domain of a mobile node for example, A network entity, such as a Mobile Access Gateway (MAG) and/or a local multicast router for example, may be used to manage the routing of the multicast traffic to the mobile node. The network entity may manage the multicast traffic using one or more multicast policies that may indicate how to route the multicast traffic to a mobile node.

  • Publication number: 20170164307
Abstract: A method for multi-band operation by a first transmit/receive unit (TRU) is disclosed. The method may comprise monitoring a plurality of frequency bands including a first band and a second band. A first beacon may be received on the first band and a determination may be made, based on the received first beacon, of a first beacon period start time. The first beacon period start time may correspond to beacons transmitted by the second TRU. A second beacon period start time may be determined, based on the received first beacon, wherein the second beacon period start time corresponds to a beacon for transmission by the first TRU. A beacon signal may be transmitted in a second band, by the first TRU, wherein the beacon signal is timing aligned with beacon signals of the second TRU. The first band and the second band may be adjacent radio bands.

  • Publication number: 20170142226
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems, devices, and computer program products directed to enabling federation 200 of multiple independent networks 204A, 204B, 204C, 204D through hash-routing based peering (HRP) and/or summary-routing based peering (SRP) are provided. Pursuant to new methodologies and/or technologies provided herein the multiple independent networks self-organize, or otherwise assemble, as a federation of network peers. The network peers 204A, 204B, 204C, 204D cooperate to pool and/or merge resources to make available for the federation 200 a population of content objects. As members of the federation, each of the network peers undertakes responsibility for making available to other network peers a share of the population. The multiple independent networks establish connectivity and federate using an HRP protocol. Pursuant to the HRP protocol, the network peers allocate amongst themselves respective key ranges within a hash-value space of a hash function.

  • Publication number: 20160330077
Abstract: User-specific virtual networks may be created within one or more physical wireless networks. For example, user-specific virtual networks may follow one or more wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) within a network, such as a WiFi network. A network controller may create and manage a plurality of Service Set Identifications (SSIDs), create virtual access points (APs), and assign virtual AP identifiers for a plurality of WTRUs. The network controller may request physical APs to create the virtual APs with the assigned virtual AP identifiers. Switches and routers may be configured so that each of the plurality of WTRUs has a user-specific virtual router and routing path to the user-specific virtual router. The network controller may reconfigure the switches and routers to maintain the user-specific virtual router and routing path as changes occur in the network.

  • Publication number: 20160262025
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and apparatus for the communication of wireless data using diverse radio access technologies (RATs) in Television Band (TVBD) frequencies. An architecture for communicating wireless data in TVBD frequencies may include one or more network nodes that perform functions related to the coordination of channel quieting across multiple diverse RATs. Channel quieting may be performed across multiple diverse RATs by using temporary channel reassignments, by aggregating wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) that use a particular RAT onto the same channel, and/or via other techniques.

  • Publication number: 20160255535
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for defining a network specialization mechanism that enables a better alignment between end users' usage profiles and their access networks. Conteni specialization of networks may be implemented as a preference o a particular SCN or network in terms of content. Such a network may, for example, cache in priority preferred content, provide preferential quality of service (QoS), or limit access to non-preferred content. A network may advertise its preference or content specialization to end users (e.g., so that end users can decide to attach to SCNs or networks with compatible preferences) and to other content networks (e.g., to influence content routing decisions or to negotiate partitioning of the specialization space). Such content specialization may apply to physical or virtual networks.
