  • Publication number: 20160150448
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for supporting advanced distributed and dynamic mobility management (DMM) features with multiple flows anchored at different gateways. A software defined networking (SDN) controller may support the attachment of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to a network. The SDN controller may receive initial attachment signaling from a point of attachment (PoA) indicating that the WTRU initially attached to the network. The anchor node may be a distributed gateway (D-GW). The SDN controller may select an anchor node to serve the WTRU Internet protocol (IP) flow traffic. Initial attachment signaling, intra-anchor node handover, inter-anchor node handover, new anchor node allocation and inter-domain mobility across virtualized operators are also described.

  • Publication number: 20160050543
Abstract: A method for supporting proxy mobile internet protocol (PMIP) in a local mobility anchor (LMA) is described. The method includes receiving a request for multicast information corresponding to a request for multicast services from at least one of a plurality of wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) which require multicast services associated with a multicast group. The method also includes transmitting, to a mobile access gateway (MAG) via an aggregated multicast tunnel, multicast information for distribution to at least one of the plurality of WTRUs in the multicast group. • Publication number: 20160007191
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided to enable or aid network-controlled selection of an IP address (and anchor) to be used by a WTRU on an application/service basis. In one example, a method is provided for a WTRU to establish a link with a gateway, transmit a query related to a selected application via the gateway, receive an advertisement for an internet protocol (IP) address, and use the IP address to communicate via the gateway with respect to the selected application. It may be assumed that there are more than one possible IP address/anchor available for the WTRU to use, as it might be the case in a mobility environment, in which an operator can provide addresses with different mobility capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20150351094
Abstract: A method and apparatus for managing radio resources in one or more wireless communication networks. At least one radio resource manager (RRM) is provided within a network node, or as an independent entity. The RRM monitors performance on wireless communication links of the network(s) and interacts with nodes associated with those links to change the configuration on a particular wireless communication link if its performance (i.e., quality) falls below an established threshold. Information regarding current resource usage of the network is sent to the RRM by the nodes. Each of the nodes may send a quality report to the RRM including wireless communication link quality measurements and performance statistics. Alternatively, the RRM may perform the wireless communication link quality measurements. The RRM facilitates the broadcasting of information regarding current resource usage of one network to other networks to avoid collisions and interference.

  • Publication number: 20150207734
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for confirming the delivery of a data packet in a mesh network by sending an acknowledgement (ACK) to an ingress mesh point (IMP). A mesh network comprises a plurality of mesh points that are wirelessly linked together. A data packet sent by a station (STA) is received by an IMP. A MAC frame is generated for transmission of the data packet and the frame is forwarded to an egress mesh point (EMP) in order to provide a service by the mesh network. The MAC frame includes a field comprising an IMP address and an EMP address. When the EMP, (or optionally an intermediate mesh point), receives a data packet successfully, the EMP or the intermediate mesh point sends an ACK to the IMP or preceding mesh point.

  • Publication number: 20150195863
Abstract: A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) may be configured to operate as a gateway, for instance as a remote mobility anchor. The WTRU may establish one or more direct, device-to-device communication links with respective complementary WTRUs. When an established device-to-device link between two WTRUs is lost, one or both of the WTRUs may initiate a fallback procedure to respective fallback gateways. An IP flow that originated over the device-to-device link may be moved to the respective fallback gateways.

  • Patent number: 9078195
Abstract: A communication device facilitates a multiple radio access technology (multi-RAT) mesh network and includes a processor that executes a media independent mesh function (MIMF), the MIMF configured to exchange media independent mesh information between peer mesh entities. At least two physical network links of the communication device support different radio access technologies (RATs). The MIMF is further configured to determine a RAT-agnostic link quality estimate for a signal routing, to selectively activate or deactivate each RAT-based physical network link to conserve power and control bandwidth; and to determine a multi-RAT mesh capability of a peer device.

Abstract: Multicast traffic in a communication network may be obtained via subscription. For example, the multicast traffic may be obtained via a local subscription, via a visited domain of a mobile node for example, or a remote subscription, via a home domain of a mobile node for example, A network entity, such as a Mobile Access Gateway (MAG) and/or a local multicast router for example, may be used to manage the routing of the multicast traffic to the mobile node. The network entity may manage the multicast traffic using one or more multicast policies that may indicate how to route the multicast traffic to a mobile node.

Abstract: A wireless communication system includes an infrastructure device for transmitting and receiving communications to and from a plurality of wireless user terminals. Each wireless user terminal includes a receiver and a controller that receives a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals on a first carrier frequency of a downlink. Each of the plurality of OFDM signals includes carrier frequency assignment information indicating a carrier frequency to transmit uplink data and spatial pattern information indicating a spatial pattern. In response to the carrier frequency assignment information of each of the plurality of OFDM signals, a transmitter and the controller of the wireless user terminal transmit a plurality of uplink signals.
