  • Publication number: 20100163816
Abstract: An elevator brake (20) rotor for use in an elevator machine (10) includes a non-metallic elevator brake hub (36) and a metal flange (34), both of which have an opening with a splined portion for guiding axial movement of the rotor along a rotable shaft (14). • Publication number: 20100000824
Abstract: An elevator machine (10) includes a machine shaft (14, 14?) and a sheave (26) that rotates with the machine shaft (14, 14?). A motor (12) selectively rotates the machine shaft (14, 14?). A brake (30) having at least one brake armature (36) selectively moves a brake rotor (28) coupled for rotation with the shaft (14, 14?) between a braking position and a released position. The brake rotor (28) selectively contacts a braking surface (44) formed directly on a housing (20, 22, 84, 90) to resist rotation of the machine shaft (14, 14?).

  • Patent number: 7581636
Abstract: An automated feeder transports pastry product dishes and/or moulds and includes a movable headstock arranged transversely above a first conveyor. The headstock includes an upper plate, a main linear actuator attached thereto, a lower mobile plate extendable by the main linear actuator, and a plurality of magnetic elements attached to the lower mobile plate. The magnetic elements hold a plurality of metallic plates in a predetermined arrangement. The headstock also includes at least two secondary vertical linear actuators disposed on the upper plate for actuating a releasing mechanism to dislodge the dishes from the magnetic elements and a transportation mechanism to provide longitudinal movement along a pair of longitudinal rails. The transportation mechanism permits the headstock to move between a first position over the first conveyor to a second position over a second.

  • Publication number: 20090004259
Abstract: In spite of their pivotal role in orchestrating immunity, dendritic cells (DCs) may be licensed by immunosuppressive signals to become tolerogenic. Here we show that ligation of cell surface glyco-receptors by Galectin-1, an endogenous glycan-binding protein, can drive the differentiation of regulatory DCs with tolerogenic potential in vivo. Galectin-1-differentiated DCs acquired a tolerogenic phenotype characterized by IL-27-dependent, STAT3-mediated and CD45RB+IL-10+ regulatory signatures. Adoptive transfer of galectin-1-conditioned DCs induced T-cell tolerance in inflammatory and neoplastic settings and dampened TH1- and TH-17-mediated autoimmune neuroinflammation. Consistent with a negative regulatory function of endogenous galectin-1, DCs from galectin-1-deficient (Lgals1?/?) mice had greater immunogenic capacity compared with their wild-type counterparts.

  • Publication number: 20060047413
Abstract: The present invention consists of a method to ensure the integrity of the navigation solution even when the user is in a non controlled environment as it is the case of urban and road applications. The method requires the existence of a Signal In Space with guaranteed integrity as the one today provided by SBAS systems or from GBAS, Galileo or GPS-III in the future. The invention covers the algorithms to detect and isolate errors present in non controlled environments such as multipath and compute resulting position error bounds with the required level of integrity. This invention substantially increases the field of application of satellite navigation systems with associated integrity to the so-called liability critical applications.

  • Patent number: 6662408
Abstract: A device for securing an end on a load bearing member in an elevator system includes a socket, a wedge and at least one insert member. The socket at least partially receives the insert member and wedge to maintain the end of the load bearing member in position. The preferred arrangement includes two insert members that engage the load bearing member on opposite sides of the wedge such that the load bearing member is gripped between the wedge and the insert members. The insert members and the socket preferably include contoured surfaces that facilitate arranging the engaging surfaces on the inserts in a parallel alignment to most evenly distribute pressure on the load bearing member.

  • Patent number: 6662058
Abstract: An adaptive predictive expert control system for controlling single-input single-output, or multi-variable time-variant processes with known or unknown parameters and with or without time delay, is disclosed. The adaptive predictive expert control system of the present invention adds an expert block into the operation of previously known adaptive predictive control systems. This expert block based on rules and in the evolution of the process variables, determines and/or modifies the operation of the driver block, control block and adaptive feedback mechanism of the previous art, in order to improve the performance, robustness and stability of the overall control system.

  • Patent number: 6504734
Abstract: The switched power converter comprises a first rectifier module (11-1) connected to a first capacitor (11-2) that, in turn, is connected to an excitation module (11-3) that applies a voltage to some input terminals (PT-1, PT-2) of a piezoelectric transformer (PT). A controller device (11-3-3) governs the excitation module (11-3) in order that the piezoelectric transformer (PT) works at constant frequency and regulates the power delivered to the output of the converter by enabling/disabling the voltage applied to the terminals (PT-1, PT-2). When the piezoelectric transformer (PT) is not transferring energy between its input terminals (PT-1, PT-2) and its output terminals (PT-3, PT-4), the converter output voltage is supplied by a second capacitor included in a second filter (11-6).

  • Patent number: 5873374
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cleaning comb with needles that are rugged on their peripheral surface and a method of manufacturing a high mechanical strength cleaning comb. The comb includes a plurality of needles arranged parallel to each other with a spacing of under 100 .mu.m, which are rugged on their peripheral surface for the purpose of more effectively removing foreign elements and smaller particles attached. The needles have a total length and a useful length, i.e. a relatively large portion that protrudes from the handle, and they have a diameter of over 1 mm. In order to give the comb a high mechanical strength, the method of assembling the comb includes attaching the needles onto the handle preferably by laser welding or soft soldering. The ruggedness on the peripheral surface is provided by cutting an helical groove or several parallel circumferential grooves.

  • Patent number: 5841652
Abstract: An Adaptive-Predictive Control and Optimization System enables a designer to construct a control and optimization scheme using graphical operators to represent adaptive-predictive controllers and to represent complementary operating logic operations. The control and optimization scheme controls an actual or simulated process in accordance with at least one predefined process performance criteria and is constructed by integrating the adaptive-predictive controllers with the complementary operating logic by selecting and interconnecting their corresponding graphical representations. The adaptive-predictive controller predicts the value of an adaptive-predictive driven vector during at least one future sampling instant, and generates, at each of the sampling instants, a control vector that drives the value of the predicted driven vector to satisfy a predefined controller performance criterion at the at least one future sampling instant.

  • Patent number: 5121817
Abstract: The device is applicable to elevator telescopic two-speed doors, using either two panels with opening towards one side or else using four panels with opening in the center, the rolling device being foreseen to be mounted on a single track as a sliding guide. The rolling device includes a case which encloses rollers and counter rollers which roll along the track. The case is formed from two parts connected together and to a bracket on the door by a pair of fasteners. The fasteners form the axles of the rollers. • Patent number: 5060763
Abstract: The improvments are applicable to elevator doors and even to doors of vehicles, either made out of two leaves which move in the same direction for the opening and closing thereof, or made out of four leaves each pair of the four leaves opening in the center. The improvements are centered on the use of a single track for both leaves or door panels, a track which may have a rectangular or circular section, located in a box with rolling or movement components which are fastened to the corresponding hanger support of the panel or door. Another improvement consists of the two panels of the door being exactly the same, each one of them including a sound absorbing element. The door frame unit is removable with preassembled active elements so that the same may be transported in a compact, easy manner from the factory to the place of use.
