    Abstract: The present invention provides methods for treatment of a RAS-positive disease, in particular KRAS-positive non-small cell lung cancer as well as a method for potentiating the apoptotic activity of a PDE? inhibitor by combining the PDE? inhibitor with a direct autophagy inhibitor. The PDE? inhibitor is preferably, but not exclusively, deltarasin, and the direct autophagy inhibitor is in particular 3-methyladenine. Further provided by the present invention are a kit and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the PDE? inhibitor and a direct autophagy inhibitor. The methods of the present invention in particular provide a new treatment option for RAS-positive diseases such as KRAS-positive non-small cell lung cancer allowing for an increased apoptotic activity of the PDE? inhibitor by simultaneously blocking its “tumor protective” autophagy.

    Abstract: A location system provides a location service for determining a location of a mobile device. A node of the location system comprises: a signal processing module, and a wireless interface which communicates wirelessly according to a standardized wireless networking protocol. The protocol defines a request message for sending a request from the mobile device to the node, the request message having a network ID field for specifying a network to which the request is directed. The wireless interface receives, from the mobile device, an instance of the request message including an ID of the location service, this being carried in the network ID field. The signal processing module detects the ID of the location service in this field, and in response captures a measurement of the received instance of the request, for use in determining the location of the mobile device in conjunction with measurements from other nodes.

    Abstract: For logical multicasting in overlay networks, at a data processing system, an original unicast packet is received from a first component in a first computing node in an overlay network. To cause multicasting in the overlay network the received original unicast packet was unicast by the first computing node only to the data processing system, and a multicast data structure for the overlay network is maintained only by the data processing system, the multicast data structure containing information of each receiver that is configured to receive unicast packets during logical multicasting in the overlay network. From a set of subscriber receivers in the multicast data structure, a subset of the subscriber receivers is selected. A copy of the original unicast packet is unicast to each subscriber receiver in the subset.

    Abstract: An imaging method comprises the steps of: putting an object in a detection region, and biasing a detector (1-8) relative to the object; moving an imaging system along a longitudinal Z axis, enabling a ray source (1-7) and the detector (1-8) to synchronously perform circular movement around the object, performing scanning and data collection, and supplementing the data; and reconstructing the collected data to obtain a complete object image. The imaging method combines detector biasing and spiral scanning, solves the problem that an image splicing method used in conventional CT imaging generates artifacts, reduces the usage area of the detector, and reduces system cost.

    Abstract: A compound suitable for treating cancer, in particular NSCLC, inhibits activity of oncogenic ROS1 kinase and ALK kinase. The compound has certain structural components such as a quinoline moiety in the backbone and at least one phenyl-containing moiety in a side chain with a hydrophobic substituent attached to the backbone via an up to 6-membered linking group as well as a further hydrophobic moiety. The presence of the structural components allows for an advantageous interaction with the ROS1 kinase domain and, further, with the ALK kinase domain. Hence, said compound represents a highly promising opportunity for patients bearing ROS1- or ALK-dependent cancer. A composition, in particular a pharmaceutical composition, includes the compound. A method for targeting cancer cells harboring an abnormality in ROS1 gene or ALK gene includes contacting a cell with the compound.

    Abstract: Systems and methods disclosed herein relate to reducing the losses associated with processing payments using credit card payment processing gateways. Payment processing gateways have different deposit success rates due to the gateways' varying arrangements with acquiring banks and the ability to process certain types of payments. A payment request related to a user may be received, wherein the request specifies a particular type of credit card, a transaction currency, and an amount. A payment application then routes, via a payment agent, the payment request to an adaptive gateway switching system (AGSS) in an attempt to complete a payment transaction. If in learning mode, the AGSS may randomly choose a payment processing gateway. Or the AGSS may choose the gateway based upon a learned gateway status based upon results learned through reinforcement learning. Upon receiving the result of a transaction attempt from the gateway, the agent reports the result to the AGSS.

    Abstract: This invention generally relates to interference mitigation, and more specifically to interference mitigation in wireless communications networks. The proposed solution takes advantage of the clear channel assessment (CCA) function used by WLAN networks. Hence, by jamming the interfering WLAN channel during a predetermined time period, the interfering WLAN network is forced to withhold transmissions on the WLAN interfering channel during a backoff period of time. The solution of the subject application makes use of this backoff period to enable a WPAN network to transmit critical information such as, but not limited to, a request for changing the current working frequency.
