  • Publication number: 20100231309
Abstract: A constant-temperature type crystal oscillator includes: a surface-mount crystal unit, in which a crystal element is housed in a case main body to hermetically encapsulate the crystal element with a metal cover, and which includes a crystal terminal serving as a mounting terminal that is electrically connected to at least the crystal element on an outer bottom face of the case main body; a thermistor that detects an operational temperature of the surface-mount crystal unit; and a circuit substrate, on which elements forming an oscillator circuit and elements forming a temperature control circuit along with the thermistor are installed. The thermistor includes a first and second terminal electrode and a temperature detecting electrode that is electrically independent of the first and second terminal electrode. The temperature detecting electrode is electrically connected to the crystal terminal of the surface-mount crystal unit through a circuit pattern formed on the circuit substrate.

  • Patent number: 7775730
Abstract: The roll paper printer of the subject invention has a control to detect failure of a paper detector in accordance with a method for detecting such failure. The printer 1 is constructed so that the paper transportation path is open when the cover 3 to the roll paper compartment 10 is open and includes a paper detector 40 and a control unit 30 to determine if the paper detector 40 is faulty. A failure warning is provided by a warning indicator 7(S7, 8) to indicate failure of the paper detector 40 when the cover 3 has been open continuously for at least a first set time (S6) and the output state of the paper detector 40 has not changed even once to a no-paper state within the first set time. Preferably, the printing operation of the printer 1 is disabled upon determining that the paper detector 40 is faulty to permit replacement of the paper detector. Problems attributable to paper detector failure, such as soiling the platen with ink can thus be prevented.

  • Patent number: 7775626
Abstract: A cleaning mechanism for cleaning a print head in an inkjet printer with the print head having ink nozzles for discharging ink including a drive control unit which operates the cleaning mechanism at a first process level or a second process level that consumes less ink than the first process level; a timer which counts the elapsed time passed in which the print head is in a no-printing state; and a process selection unit responsive to a predetermined input cleaning command for selecting the first process level when the no-printing state has continued for less than a predetermined time or the second process level when the no-printing state has continued for greater than the predetermined time, based on the value of the timer when the predetermined input cleaning command is received. The predetermined input cleaning command can be received from a cleaning button or from a host computer.

  • Publication number: 20100102892
Abstract: A crystal oscillator includes a crystal unit and a voltage-variable capacitive element that is connected to the crystal unit in series, the crystal oscillator varying an oscillation frequency by applying a control voltage between terminals of the voltage-variable capacitive element and by varying a series equivalence capacitance at a side of the oscillator circuit when observed between terminals of the crystal unit. The crystal oscillator further includes a first resistor and a second resistor for dividing the control voltage. At least one of the first resistor and the second resistor is a temperature sensing resistor, the resistance of which changes depending on a temperature, so as to correct frequency temperature characteristics of the oscillation frequency.

  • Publication number: 20100052802
Abstract: A constant-temperature type crystal oscillator includes: a crystal unit that is installed on one principal surface of a circuit substrate, and chip resistors, which function as heating elements, and which are installed on the other principal surface of the circuit substrate so as to face a principal surface of the crystal unit, the chip resistors heating up the crystal unit to keep an operational temperature of the crystal unit constant. A heating metal film facing the principal surface of the crystal unit is provided on the one principal surface of the circuit substrate. A heat conducting material is interposed between the principal surface of the crystal unit and the heating metal film to perform thermal coupling therebetween. The heating metal film is thermally coupled to electrode terminals of the chip resistors via a plurality of electrode through holes.

  • Publication number: 20100032466
Abstract: A label paper indexing control method for a label printer, including steps of conveying label paper having labels affixed with a specific gap there between to a continuous liner through a paper transportation path passed a printing position of a print head, detecting a reference position of the label paper at a detection position upstream from the print head, determining the position of a downstream label end of a label on the paper transportation path as a first distance from the detection position based on when the reference position is detected, updating the first distance each time the label paper is conveyed, executing a power shutdown operation that writes the first distance to nonvolatile memory and turns the power off when a power off command instructing turning the power off is asserted, and reading the first distance from nonvolatile memory when the power turns on without the label paper having been replaced.

  • Publication number: 20100033752
Abstract: A printer and reprinting control method do not reprint when an error accompanied by no damage to the actual printing area or print image on paper occurs so that consumables are not wasted. The printer 1 reprints the label 11a on which the print image 11c was being formed when a specific error occurs if the error occurred while the inkjet head 13 was forming the print image 11c in the actual printing area E1 of the label 11a. When the non-printing area E2 of the label 11a is passing the printing position of the inkjet head 13, the print image 11c in the actual printing area E1 that was printed immediately before an error occurs is reprinted only if a specific error is detected, such as a paper jam error or mechanical error with the possibility of damage to the paper 11 or label 11a.

  • Publication number: 20100033258
Abstract: A secondary vibration damping type crystal oscillator circuit is formed as a Colpitts type, in which a crystal unit is connected between base and collector terminals, a first capacitor is connected between emitter and collector terminals, and a second capacitor is connected between emitter and base terminals of a oscillating transistor. A region between the emitter and collector terminals or between the emitter and base terminals includes a reactance parallel circuit, in which an LC series circuit is connected in parallel to the first or second capacitor. The reactance parallel circuit has resonant characteristics that the reactance parallel circuit is made capacitive at an oscillating frequency in principal vibration mode of the crystal unit as an oscillating frequency, and a resonant frequency of the LC series circuit corresponds to the vibrational frequency in secondary vibration mode that is close to the principal vibration mode.
