  • Publication number: 20210053073
Abstract: A purification system and method may include a container receiving portion, pump, and magnetic field generating element. The container receiving portion may be configured to receive and support a container containing a mixture. Magnetic beads may be added to the container for separating a target substance from a remainder of the mixture. The magnetic field generating element may be movable relative to the container receiving portion between a non-working position remote from the container receiving portion and a working position adjacent an outer periphery of the container receiving portion. In the working position, the magnetic field generating element may attract the magnetic beads and hold them firmly against an interior surface of the container. While the magnetic beads are immobilized by the magnetic field generating element, the pump may remove the mixture from the container, leaving behind the magnetic beads bound tightly but reversibly to the target substance.

  • Patent number: 10742612
Abstract: In a network that includes a client, a server and one or more proxy entities that intercept network traffic between the client and the server, a computer-implemented method is provided including: establishing trust with a permissioned distributed database; computing hashes from packet payloads of network traffic originated, intercepted or received; storing the hashes to the permissioned distributed database so that the permissioned distributed database maintains hashes computed from packets of the network traffic originated, intercepted or received by the client, server and the one or more proxy entities; and validating the hashes by comparing, with each other, the hashes stored to the permissioned distributed database by the client, server and the one or more proxy entities to determine whether any packet payload of the network traffic was modified in transit.

  • Patent number: 10687974
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to devices that aid a user in ceasing bruxism. The devices may be placed between a user's teeth, such as during sleep, and alert the user when the user clenches his/her teeth. In an aspect, a device includes a housing containing a battery power source, a vibration device, and an electrical contact mechanism having a movable element which closes a circuit to actuate the vibration device. A disk-shaped portion adapted to be emplaced in a person's mouth between a cheek and adjacent teeth is disposed around the housing. A resilient bite portion extends from the housing and is adapted to be emplaced between upper and lower teeth. A compressible element is disposed in the bite portion and causes the movable element of the electrical contact to close to actuate the vibration device in response to compression of the bite portion.

  • Patent number: 10660312
Abstract: Embodiments of an anti-pull collar attachment are provided. In one embodiment, the anti-pull collar attachment includes a collar attachment interface having a collar guideway through which a segment of an animal collar is routed to removably mount the collar attachment to the animal collar. A first prodding feature is coupled to the collar attachment interface and, when the anti-pull collar attachment is removably mounted to the animal collar, is positioned beneath the segment of the animal collar. The prodding feature engages into an animal wearing the animal collar when a pull force is exerted on the collar. In certain implementations, the anti-pull collar attachment further includes a frame coupled to the collar attachment interface, as well as a movable platform slidable with respect to the frame along a prodding axis. The first prodding feature projects from the movable platform and moves in conjunction therewith along the prodding axis.

  • Publication number: 20200143224
Abstract: A technique is described herein for automatically logging journeys taken by a user, and then automatically classifying the purposes of the journeys. In one implementation, the technique obtains journey data from one or more movement-sensing devices as a user travels from a starting location to an ending location in a vehicle. The technique generates a set of features based on the journey data, and then uses a machine-trainable model (such as a neural network) to make its classification based on the features. The machine-trainable model accepts at least one feature that is based on statistical information regarding at least one aspect of prior journeys that the user has taken. Overall, the technique provides a resource-efficient solution that rapidly provides personalized results to individual respective users. In some implementations, the technique performs its personalization without sharing journey data with a remote server.

  • Publication number: 20200093437
Abstract: Aspects presented herein are directed to techniques for eliminating acquisition related artifacts in electro-physiological recording. In order to eliminate artifacts in neural response recordings, a pair of recordings is made with, respectively, inverted and non-inverted polarity at one pair of electrodes. • Patent number: 10575665
Abstract: Embodiments of an orthopedic pillow are provided for supporting the head of a sleeper in a supine position. In one embodiment, the orthopedic pillow includes a base having a centerline, a primary head support surface provided on the base, and laterally-opposed side rails extending upwardly from the base and flanking the primary head support surface. The laterally-opposed side rails include, in turn, interior portions and reinforcement portions. The interior portions are located adjacent the primary head support surface and each formed from a first material having a first stiffness, such as a molded foam having a first density. The reinforcement portions are located outboard of the interior portions, as taken along a lateral axis perpendicular to the centerline. The reinforcement portions formed from a second material having a second stiffness greater than the first stiffness, such as a molded foam having a second density greater than the density.

  • Publication number: 20200015869
Abstract: An implantable fixation device for rejoining opposed portions of a separated bone. The device including two corresponding plates that are configured to be aligned and coupled to a bone, such as a sternum, pre-resection of the bone or prior to cutting/separating the bone. The placement of the corresponding plates provides a gap between the edges of the plates that face one another allowing for and guiding a cutting tool for separating the bone. After the bone has been cut and the desired surgical procedure performed, the plates also assist in realigning and fixation of the bone portions. At least one plate includes a ratchet mechanism that is configured to tighten a locking element and draw the two plates together and into alignment with one another.
