  • Patent number: 6361303
Abstract: A mold-closing unit for an injection molding machine for processing plasticizable masses includes a support element for supporting a piston-cylinder unit for moving a mobile mold carrier and to support a pressure cylinder, and a hydraulic block to supply hydraulic lines inside the support element. The support element has at least two support sections which accommodate between them the hydraulic block and are connected to the hydraulic block via a fastener. Thus the mold-closing unit can be constructed more compactly, with shortening of the bores for the hydraulic lines.

  • Patent number: 6287104
Abstract: A mechanical safety cover interlock for an injection-molding unit has a protective device that covers the mold clamping area. As soon as the protective device is moved from its protecting position, a sensor for an auxiliary circuit emits an electrical signal. As a result of the electrical signal, a control element uses the force of elastic means to steer blocking mechanisms into a blocking position with a blocking section of a locking rod, which hinders the movement of the movable mold carrier when in the blocking position. The position of the control element is monitored with the aid of a position monitoring arrangement.

  • Patent number: 6190154
Abstract: In the case of an injection molding machine for processing plasticizable materials, a structural unit, which includes at least a movable mold carrier, a stationary mold carrier and a closing arrangement of a mold closing unit, is supported on support elements on a machine base. A pivotal axis, about which the structural unit is pivotable, extends transversely relative to a closing axis. A drive unit is provided for pivoting and for displacing the structural unit and is connected pivotally to the machine base and at an articulation point to the structural unit, which articulation point is disposed at a spacing from a pivotal axis. Upon transferring the structural unit from the horizontal position into the vertical position, the drive unit initially pivots the structural unit and then also displaces it.

  • Patent number: 6026696
Abstract: A device for converting a rotary motion into an axial motion comprises an outer tube (10) with internal contours (10a), an inner shaft (11) with head (11a) with external contours (11b), an inner chamber (R) formed between tube (10) and shaft (11) and a plurality of roller elements (12) arranged in the inner chamber (R) and around the head (11a), which are in active engagement with at least one contour with the internal contour (10a) of the tube (10) and the external contour (11b) of the head (11a), whose position can be adjusted essentially by rotation relative to the roller elements (12). The shaft (11) is surrounded by a tubular element (14) arranged coaxially with respect to the central axis (a--a) of the shaft, which moves translationally relative to the tube (10) when the device is actuated. • Patent number: 5980793
Abstract: For determination of the forces arising at a feeding means in an injection molding machine for plastic materials, a first static sensor is provided for determining at least the forces arising during the material preparation stage. A further force sensor detects in essence the forces arising during injection and, as soon as the first measured value reaches a limit value F1, the first static sensor passes on the further detection of the forces to the further sensor, wherein the limit value F1 at the same time serves as calibration value for the further sensor.

  • Patent number: 5945046
Abstract: For a cycle of a cyclically operating machine, the internal tool pressure is detected during the cycle as a function of the time and/or as a function of the path traversed by the conveying means. The internal tool pressure course is then differentiated as a function of the time or of the path. It is then checked whether, by way of the previously determined derivatives, there are deviations from a monotonic course. If this is the case, the holding pressure time or the change-over moment are changed until the internal tool pressure curve has a monotonic course.

  • Patent number: 5916501
Abstract: In a control process speed stages are predetermined for the displacement of a movable unit and a nominal speed curve is derived therefrom. From the nominal speed curve a nominal path/time curve is calculated, from which, in turn, a position reference variable for the speed control is determined. At the time t.sub.i determined for the modification position s.sub.i where the speed level is to be changed for the successive speed stage, the speed of the movable unit is maintained until time t.sub.i' which is the moment at which the movable unit actually reaches the modification position s.sub.i. Upon this occurrence a triggering is initiated which equates the actual time t.sub.i' with the nominal time t.sub.i and which causes the nominal speed course to be superseded by a new nominal speed course progressing from the actual point in time t.sub.i'. The new nominal speed course corresponds to that portion of the superseded nominal speed course which progresses forwardly from the nominal time t.sub.

  • Patent number: 5811139
Abstract: In a device for fixing a ball screw/nut mechanism, including a ball screw and a ball nut, safe from turning. The ball screw/nut mechanism generates a linear movement to displace a first subassembly until it rests on a second subassembly. A blocking device is provided, which is adapted to fix the rotating part of the ball screw/nut mechanism, when both subassemblies are in contact, safe from turning through a reaction force originated by an external force and by overcoming the force of a first resetting means. When the parts are in contact, the blocking device is positioned in a determined distance from the first subassembly, and when the external force, generated by the drive device, arises the turnable part is safe from turning, until the determined distance between the first subassembly and the blocking device is compensated for.

  • Patent number: 5634334
Abstract: In a hydraulic device at least one control valve with at least three control positions is connected with a variable capacity pump, whereby the controlling device of the variable capacity pump is connected with the supply line downstream the control valve via a feedback line with the purpose of adjusting the pump output so as to maintain a constant operational pressure gradient. The back flow pipe is conducted over the control valve, which is connected with the consumers by connecting valves associated to mentioned consumers, whereby a transducer is associated to the back flow pipe, which together with the transducer of the supply line constitutes a regulating variable for a control unit. This way a precise and energy saving regulation or control of the consumers in both flow directions by a control valve at a reasonable price is achieved.

  • Patent number: 5578329
Abstract: In an injection molding machine for processing synthetic materials a machine base is fixedly connected with a stationary mold carrier, with a movable mold carrier and with a closing mechanism, arranged at the closing mechanism, for moving the movable mold carrier. The supporting element is hinged with the stationary mold carrier by at least one force transmitting element adapted to take up forces occuring when the mold is in closed position. Since the force transmitting element is a separate clamping device, deformable by the forces, and the supporting element is movably beared at the machine base in closing direction, whereat linked elements, used for flexible connection are detachably arranged at the supporting element, the stationary mold carrier and the clamping device, it is achieved that deformations occuring at the mold closing unit are deviated to the machine base without having an influence on it, even after a long life and without affecting mold parallelism.

  • Patent number: 5539650
Abstract: Computer based interactive control of a plastics injection molding machine during input of portions of a production sequence and configuration of an injection cycle, which is effected essentially before the onset of the injection molding process. For a mold guided by an operator, operating parameters required for a process sequence are input by way of an input unit into a computer based control unit storing these operating parameters. Subsequently, one or a plurality of injection cycles are implemented according to the stored operating parameters. A physically possible production sequence, as well as a production sequence that is structurally specific to the machine and the tool employed, including any peripheral devices provided at the respective machine or associated therewith, is determined with the control unit.

  • Patent number: 5511963
Abstract: In a mold closing unit for use in an injection molding machine for processing synthetic materials arranged on a mounting surface an electro-mechanical drive is applied in a toggle mechanism, at which the driving unit is movably held. The electro-mechanical drive converts a rotational movement of a driving unit into a linear movement for the toggle. The length of the lever and the length of the driving element is less than the distance from the mounting surface to the link points. A quill motor can be provided as a driving unit. This arrangement allows that the linear drive and the mold closing unit can be of a shorter and more compact construction.

  • Patent number: 5486106
Abstract: In a hydraulic device a variable capacity pump adapted to record a differential pressure via a control valve is actuated in such a way that a constant operational pressure gradient is maintained.
