  • Patent number: 5484014
Abstract: For the sealing of a gap between at least two components or groups of components which are movably arranged with respect to one another, particularly of a heat exchanger, a device is indicated in the case of which a strip-shaped sealing body, which is connected with one component, is sealingly and movably guided in a groove of the other component, and in the case of which the sealing body is composed in the manner of layers of elements, in the longitudinal direction of the gap. The layers are arranged to be displaceable and freely expandable, are suspended at one component in a swivelling manner, and are spatially movably guided on the other component by way of the groove, with a clamping effect.

  • Patent number: 5243815
Abstract: Apparatus for the compact assembly of a gas turbine engine with a recuperative exhaust gas heat exchanger wherein inlet and outlet ducts of the core of the heat exchanger are supported by support plates attached to the casing of the heat exchanger. The support plates are connected to the engine casing with capability of relative movement between the ducts and the support plates so that thermally produced expansions and contractions are taken up without stress at the support points of the ducts with the support plates and within the heat exchanger. As a consequence, no expansion joints are necessary in the connection lines.

  • Patent number: 4986344
Abstract: A heat exchanger having two mainfold ducts extending in parallel, adjacent relation connected to each other by heat exchange tubes. The manifold ducts are formed by a plurality of duct segments axially aligned one after the other in sealed relation and a support frame is arranged externally of the manifold ducts and is secured to and supports the duct segments individually at one of their ends. Each duct segment is secured to the frame at one of its ends while its other end is guidably supported and allowed to axially expand and contract relative to the end of the adjacent duct segment. This provides favorable resistance to the loads developed during operation as well as simple dismantling of the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 4979665
Abstract: A process of manufacturing a spacer element for spaced heat exchange tubes of a heat exchanger in which the tubes are of elliptical cross section and arranged in rows and columns. In the process a band of stranded interwoven fine wires are wound between and on the surfaces of the spaced heat exchange tubes and is fused to the tubes at the regions of contact therewith by a heating operation to form a spacer for holding the tubes in spaced relation. The heating operation can be carried out by heating the tubes and band in an oven, either in a vacuum or with a protective gas.

  • Patent number: 4863107
Abstract: For removing foreign solids, for instance contaminants, from pulpers in which waste paper, in particular with a share of more than five percent, for instance more than ten percent, of solids foreign to paper, is pulped or suspended and the suspension or slurry is the withdrawn through a screen zone for further processing, it is proposed according to the invention to at least partially withdraw the suspension or slurry from the pulper in periodic time intervals and, subsequent to the, in particular each, partial withdrawal of the suspension or slurry, to loosen, hydrodynamically or by means of fluids, the foreign solids accumulated on one side, in particular the upper side, of the screen zone, whereupon the dirt slurry obtained by hydrodynamical loosening is fully mechanically discharged from the pulper prior to newly charging the pulper. The hydrodynamical loosening of the foreign solids is preferably effected under backflushing through the screen zone.

  • Patent number: 4777720
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a multiple wire brush contact includes the steps of stamping a continuous strip of material so as to define a series of spaced blanks, each including a cross bar and a base mounting plate, separating side carrier portions, welding and soldering contact wires onto the cross bar portions, cutting and forming the contact wiper. The multiple wire brush contact assembly thus includes a base mounting plate that is separate from the cross bar and wire spring and that is used to handle and mount the assembly in a cooperating receiving space in a rotor or other element.

  • Patent number: 4279561
Abstract: In press line operations, a workpiece conveyor device is necessary to carry workpieces from one press to another. Preferably, this conveyor should be readily removable for repairs, adaptable to a large number of presses, and readily reprogrammable to adapt to a variety of workpieces. To achieve this, a conveyor is provided having a cross member mounted on a movable carriage which moves along a track on a frame bridging the intermediate space between two presses. Horizontal movement of the carriage along the track, vertical movement of the cross member on the carriage, and movement of a positioning device for the workpieces is provided by setting drives controlled by a continuous-path numerical control unit. For repairs, the entire frame can be moved out of the intermediate space in a direction at a right angle to the direction of workpiece travel.
