    Abstract: Disclosed is a filament winding apparatus comprising a winding mechanism having a pair of arms for winding traversed filamentary yarns impregnated with a resin onto a plurality of mandrels, respectively, and a mandrel retaining mechanism having mandrel receiving portions by a number of at least two times of the number of the mandrels to be set on the arms of the winding mechanism. The arms are swung between a winding position and a mandrel exchange position of the mandrel retaining mechanism. The retaining mechanism is a little moved when the mandrels are exchanged. A plurality of mandrels can be easily and efficiently exchanged at the same time without a particular device. The number of the mandrels for simultaneous filament winding can be increased and a high productivity can be obtained. Further, this apparatus can be realized at a relatively low cost.

    Abstract: A system for producing a drawn yarn having a durable mechanical and thermal stability in practical use from a fiber-forming polymer by means of a single continuous process is disclosed. A yarn extruded from a spinneret is first introduced into a liquid bath for cooling and subsequently to a hot chamber filled with a pressurized steam for heat-treatment, in which the yarn is drawn against a resistance caused by the liquid bath. The vessel of the liquid bath is provided with a yarn exit path adapted to allow the passage of the yarn but inhibit the leakage of the liquid and to remove a concomitant liquid from the yarn. The hot chamber is provided with inlet and outlet paths for the yarn also adapted to allow the passage of the yarn but inhibit the leakage of the steam. The system is suitable for producing for industrial use a yarn composed of thicker individual filaments.

    Abstract: A yarn winder provided with a long spindle (1) having a length of, for example, more than 800 mm, and free from vibration even when used at a high working rotation is provided by various aspects of the present invention. According to a first aspect, the dynamic unbalance of the spindle (1) is corrected by field-balancing in at least three planes including the mid-portion of the spindle (1) by an influence coefficient matrix method. According to a second aspect, the respective spindle (1, 14) mounted on a revolving drum (9) has a natural frequency different from each other so that no resonance occurs when the two spindles (1, 14) are rotated at substantially the same rotational speed. According to a third aspect, a bobbin holding portion (2) of the spindle (1) is formed by two cylindrical hollow bodies (103, 104) each having shorter length that can be easily machined without eccentricity.

    Abstract: A thermoplastic polymer is melt-spun into a spinning tube decompressed to not more than 0.7 atm and withdrawn therefrom to the outer air through a narrow groove provided in a bottom sealing body which substantially seals the interior of the spinning tube from the outer air. The bottom sealing body is provided with a plurality of regulating chambers communicating with the groove, which chambers are controlled to have interior pressures of intermediate values between those of the spinning tube and the outer air, whereby the pressure pulsation of an air stream flowing into the interior of the spinning tube from the outer air through the groove can be avoided. This, in turn, ensures a smooth spinning operation and uniform yarn quality.

    Abstract: A yarn feeding means comprising a yarn detaching guide positioned in the vicinity of a positively rotating roller for feeding a yarn continuously fed from a supply source to a yarn winder and capable of selectively occupying either of two positions, one of which is a retractive position where the detaching guide is non-operative to the yarn path and the other is a projective position where the detaching guide is engageable with the yarn path to detach the yarn from the positively rotating roller. The yarn detaching guide holds the yarn during the threading operation away from the feed roller whereby the yarn can be withdrawn even by a standard capacity suction gun irrespective of a high surface speed of the feed roller. A winder comprising the yarn detaching guide is also provided.

    Abstract: A high speed yarn feeding apparatus for feeding yarn from a yarn supply source to a yarn take-up apparatus is disclosed which is capable of being threaded by conventionally employed suction nozzles. The yarn feeding apparatus employs at least one stepped godet roller having a small diameter portion on which the travelling yarn is initially threaded. A yarn hooking means is provided on the peripheral surface of the stepped side of the large diameter portion of the stepped roller. Means is provided upstream of the stepped roller for shifting the travelling yarn from a position aligned with the small diameter portion to a position aligned with the large diameter portion of the stepped roller. The yarn hooking means can take various conformations and more than one hooking means can be provided on a single stepped godet roller.
