  • Patent number: 6135891
Abstract: A constant velocity universal joint is disclosed in which the end of a track groove 24 which opens to the open end surface 26 of the outer joint member 2 is formed with a cut portion 28a, 28b for the incorporation of a ball, thereby making the incorporation of balls possible without shifting the position of the open end surface 26. Therefore, the strength of the inlet portion of the outer joint member 2 is increased. Furthermore, since the ball incorporating angle .alpha. of the cage 5 can be decreased, it is possible to increase the width of the pocket column portion 58 of the cage 5 and increase the strength of the cage 5.

  • Patent number: 6087803
Abstract: A battery pack 2 is detachably loaded with respect to an electronic equipment 1 through an electric connecting portion 3 to thereby deliver power. A CPU 2f of the battery pack 2 detects signal states of communication lines by using communication lines, e.g., data lines 3h, 3f and clock lines 3i, 3g for informing information between the battery pack 2 and the electronic equipment 1, whereby the battery pack 2 detects whether the battery pack is in the state electrically connected to the connecting portion of the electronic equipment 1 or in the state electrically detached from the connecting portion of the electronic equipment 1. Thus, the number of connecting terminals used in electrically connecting the battery pack with respect to the electronic equipment is reduced. As a result, miniaturization can be realized and there can result less unsatisfactory terminal contact.

  • Patent number: 5828081
Abstract: A power IC is provided which facilitates applying a high voltage to the gate electrode of the MOS semiconductor element for the power output of the power IC to break down defects around the gate oxide film in a short time thereby screening the power ICs efficiently. A gate terminal for testing is led out from the gate electrode of the MOS type semiconductor element for the power output of the power and the screening test is conducted by applying a high voltage to the gate terminal for testing. The expected bad influence of the applied high voltage on the control circuit is avoided by the level shift means or the switching means switched off only during the screening test and short-circuited after the test is over.

  • Patent number: 5811996
Abstract: A gate drive circuit device for a voltage-driven semiconductor element reduces the time to dissipate inductively stored electromagnetic energy and reduces current consumption by using cyclically charged capacitative storage to produce a control signal that is about twice the supply voltage. This permits full-ON dissipation of the stored energy after the circuit cuts off power to the inductive element. In one embodiment, the dissipation is chiefly in a voltage-regulator diode connected to limit the voltage appearing across a transistor. In another embodiment, a voltage regulator diode permits a transistor to operate in the full-on condition, while limiting the voltage across it to a value below its withstand voltage, whereby a maximum power dissipation current flows in the transistor. In a further embodiment a gate drive signal generator eliminates a voltage regulator diode from the conventional gate drive circuit device.

  • Patent number: 5587655
Abstract: A constant current circuit of the invention supplies a constant current to a load. The constant current circuit is formed of a current source device for providing an input current having a predetermined value with temperature dependence, a voltage divider device connected to the current source device, and an output transistor device. A reference transistor device or an adjusting transistor device is attached to the current source device. In case the reference transistor device is used, the voltage divider device divides a reference voltage of the reference transistor device to thereby generate a control voltage. In case the adjusting transistor device is used, an adjusting voltage from the voltage divider device is supplied to the adjusting transistor device to generate a control voltage. The output transistor device is connected to the load for controlling an output current supplied to the load in response to the control voltage.

  • Patent number: 5293427
Abstract: The invention detects the position of an eye in image of a driver's face quickly and with high reliability, even if the density of the driver's face image is not uniform on the right and left sides due to direct sunlight. Only one eye detection area is obtained on the dark side of the face image when the density of the face image is not uniform on the right and left sides. One eye window is detected in the one eye detection area, and an iris center is detected within the eye window to discriminate an inattentive driver who is dozing.

  • Patent number: 5218387
Abstract: An image of a face including eyes is converted into a binary coded image. The binary coded image is processed to detect first and second rectangular regions including image portions representing the eyes, respectively. For this purpose, the binary coded image is scanned in a series of horizontal scan lines to detect the X and Y coordinates of initial and final pixels of a line segment representing the longest width of the face. The X coordinates of each of the first and second rectangular regions are calculated based upon the detected X coordinates of the initial and final pixels. An image portion above the line segment is scanned to detect the Y coordinate of a lowermost one of pixels forming black image portions. The Y coordinates of the first and second rectangular regions are calculated based upon the detected Y coordinate of the lowermost pixel.

  • Patent number: 4913406
Abstract: A method for operating a shaft furnace is performed by charging different ore/coke ratio mixture in radially different positions in the furnace. The ore/coke mixture ratio may be determined according to desired heat distribution in radial direction. For this, at least two mutually independently determined ore/coke mixture ratio mixtures are provided in each charge cycle of the burden. The mixture to be charged in the central portion of the furnace may have a higher coke content or a lower ore content for better permeability to the heating gas.

  • Patent number: 4016205
Abstract: This invention relates to a process of resolving D and L-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl) glycine. DL-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl) glycine is treated with d-3-bromo-2-oxo-10-bornanesulfonic acid to form a mixture of d-3-bromo-2-oxo-10-bornanesulfonic acid salts of D- and L-2-(4-Hydroxyphenyl) glycine. This mixture is treated with a solvent selected from the group consisting of isobutyl alcohol, a mixture of a lower alkanol and chloroform, or a mixture of a lower alkanol and toluene. The precipitate containing the d-3-bromo-2-oxo-10 bornanesulfonic acid salt of L-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl) glycine is collected. The corresponding acid salt of D-2-(hydroxyphenyl) glycine is collected from the mother liquor. D- and L-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl) glycine are then recovered by conventional means.
