Patent number: 7367915Abstract: A planetary gear unit PR and a clutch C3 for outputting reduced speed rotation and a clutch C1 for connecting and disconnecting input of rotation of an input shaft to a sun gear S2 are located on one axial side of a planetary gear unit PU, and a clutch C2 for connecting and disconnecting input of rotation of the input shaft to the carrier CR2 is located on the axially opposite of the planetary gear unit PU. By doing so, as compared to a case wherein, for example, a clutch C1 and clutch C2 are both located between a pair of planetary gear units PR and PU, the planetary gear units PR and PU can be located more closely together, and the member that transmits the reduced speed rotation from planetary gear unit PR to planetary gear unit PU can be made shorter. Further, compared to the case wherein, for example, the clutches C1, C2, C3 are located on one axial side of the planetary gear units, the construction of the oil lines is simplified.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 2003Date of Patent: May 6, 2008Assignee: Aisin Aw Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kazumichi Kayama, Nobutada Sugiura, Shundo Yamaguchi, Kazuhisa Ozaki, Tomochika Inagaki

Patent number: 7350603Abstract: A hybrid drive unit includes a hybrid mechanism having at least one electric motor and a transfer that distributes driving force to front and rear wheels. The electric motor and the transfer are housed in a tubular shaped transmission case that extends in the front and rear directions of a vehicle. The hybrid drive unit is mounted on and supported by a second attachment coupled to an internal combustion engine and provided at a front end of the hybrid drive unit and a first attachment portion fixed to a vehicle body. The electric motor and the transfer that are heavy structural members of the hybrid drive unit are positioned separately to the front and rear of the first attachment portion that forms a boundary. By adopting this configuration, it is possible to reduce the amount of engine vibration that is transmitted to the vehicle body through the first attachment portion.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2004Date of Patent: April 1, 2008Assignees: Aisin AW Co., Ltd., Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shigeki Takami, Kiyotomo Miura, Satoru Wakuta, Kazuhisa Ozaki

Patent number: 7255186Abstract: An output of an internal combustion engine is transmitted to an output shaft by controlling a control motor to change a rotation speed output from the engine without speed steps via power distribution planetary gear. An output of a drive motor is input to the output shaft by changing the speed into two-step decelerated rotation by means of an automatic transmission. The transmission produces a desired torque by decelerating the speed by a large degree when a vehicle speed is low, and produces a desired number of revolutions by decelerating the speed by a small degree when the vehicle speed is high.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2003Date of Patent: August 14, 2007Assignees: Aisin AW Co., Ltd., Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Satoru Wakuta, Kenji Omote, Takeshi Inuzuka, Kazuhisa Ozaki, Kazumasa Tsukamoto, Kozo Yamaguchi, Masatoshi Adachi, Kazutoshi Motoike, Masahiro Kojima

Patent number: 7232022Abstract: In a hydraulic servo for a clutch, a cancel plate is disposed on a second clutch drum that undergoes the same rotation as a second clutch drum provided with a cylinder portion, in such a fashion that the cancel plate is restricted from moving to a side opposite from a return spring in an axial direction. The first clutch drum is disposed, as a separate member, on the second clutch drum. A step portion of the second clutch drum prevents the first clutch drum from moving to a side opposite from the cancel plate. Due to the spring force of the return spring, the oil pressure in the cancel oil chamber and the oil pressure in the operating oil chamber, the force that presses the first clutch drum to the step portion is always greater than the force that presses the first clutch drum to the cancel plate side.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2006Date of Patent: June 19, 2007Assignees: Aisin AW Co., Ltd., Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Toshihiko Aoki, Takuya Fujimine, Minoru Todo, Kazuhisa Ozaki, Hirofumi Ota, Akira Hoshino, Atsushi Tabata, Akiharu Abe, Masafumi Kinoshita, Atsushi Honda, Kazutoshi Nozaki

Publication number: 20070007095Abstract: A hydraulic power transmission device includes a toroid portion, a turbine hub, and a lock-up device. The toroid portion includes a pump impeller and a turbine runner. The turbine hub is engaged with an input shaft of a transmission and holds the turbine runner. The lock-up device is installed so that it engages and disengages freely and it mechanically transmits to the turbine hub rotation that is transmitted from a drive power source.
