  • Publication number: 20070060827
Abstract: In an apparatus adapted to measure a pulse rate of a subject, a plurality of band pass filters, each of which has a center frequency that is different from the others are provided. The band pass filters are connected in parallel to one another so as to be adapted to receive a first signal corresponding to a pulse wave of the subject and be operable to output a plurality of second signals each of which is obtained by filtering the first signal with each center frequency. A first processor is operable to obtain a fundamental frequency of the first signal. A selector is operable to select one of the second signals which is output from one of the band pass filters having such a center frequency that is closest to the fundamental frequency. A second processor is operable to calculate the pulse rate from the selected one of the second signals.

  • Publication number: 20070049811
Abstract: In an apparatus for measuring an oxygen saturation in blood, a plurality of light emitters are adapted to irradiate a living tissue with a plurality of light beams having different wavelengths. A light receiver is adapted to receive the light beams reflected from or transmitted through the living tissue to generate pulse wave signals in accordance with pulsations of the blood in the living tissue. A separator is operable to separate each of the pulse wave signals into a plurality of amplitude signals each of which is associated with one frequency, thereby generating pairs of amplitude signals each of which is associated with one of a plurality of frequencies. A first processor is operable to calculate a ratio between the amplitude signals in each of the pairs of the amplitude signals. A selector is operable to select one of the pairs of the amplitude signals. A second processor is operable to calculate the oxygen saturation based on the ratio of the selected one of the pairs of the amplitude signals.

  • Publication number: 20070021015
Abstract: An operation control system for a planing boat can include a mode selection module configured to allow a driver to select a driving mode of either one of a normal operation mode, in which the boat cruises at a speed in response to the displacement of an acceleration controller, and a speed-fixing mode, in which the boat cruises at a fixed speed at a level when a speed-fixing controller is operated. The system can also include a planing condition determination module configured to determine whether a hull is at the stage of planing, in which the mode selection module is configured to prohibit the driving mode from switching to the speed-fixing mode if the planing condition determination module determines that the hull is not at the stage of planning. The mode selection module can also be configured to permit the driving mode to switch to the speed-fixing mode if the planing condition determination module determines that the hull is at the stage of planing.

  • Patent number: 7137376
Abstract: An engine has a flywheel magneto mounted on one end of a crankshaft. The flywheel magneto rotates together with the crankshaft. A cover member is coupled with an engine body and defines a space together with the engine body. The flywheel magneto is enclosed within the space. The space contains lubricant and/or lubricant mist that can adhere onto the flywheel magneto. The cover member defines first ribs that extend toward the flywheel magneto and that are closed spaced from the flywheel magneto so as to remove lubricant adhered on the flywheel magneto when the flywheel magneto rotates. The cover member also defines second ribs extending toward the flywheel magneto and an lubricant collecting recess formed on an inner surface of the cover member. The second ribs also remove lubricant adhered on the flywheel magneto and guide the lubricant toward the lubricant collecting recess when the flywheel magneto rotates.

  • Publication number: 20060250530
Abstract: Instinctive operation of editing parameters of waveform is provided. Tabs 38, 40 and 42 are displayed on a display screen 14 to show existence of parameter edit screen layers of different combinations of characters, waveforms and channels. If one of the tabs are selected the display is switched to show the corresponding parameter edit screen layer. Channel characters or waveforms are displayed on the tabs 38, 40 and 42 and are changed dynamically according to the setting so that a user can easily realize setting outlines of the respective channels at a glance.

  • Patent number: 7130739
Abstract: A control system for a marine engine includes a control device to control the engine. A transmitter creates a command signal and sends the command signal to a receiver. The receiver receives the command signal and transfers the command signal to the control device. The control device includes memory to store the command signal. The control device determines whether the command signal is correctly transferred to the control device. The control device controls the engine in complying with the command signal transferred from the receiver when the command signal is correctly transferred. The control device controls the engine in complying with the command signal stored in the storage device when the command signal is not correctly transferred.

  • Patent number: 7037147
Abstract: A personal watercraft has a jet pump propulsion device. An engine powers the propulsion device and a control device controls engine speed. A steering mechanism steers a thrust direction of the propulsion device. An engine load sensor or an engine speed sensor senses an engine load or an engine speed, respectively. A steering position sensor senses an angular position of the steering mechanism. The control device decreases engine speed when the engine load or the engine speed is greater than a preset engine load or the engine speed, respectively, and the angular position of the steering mechanism is greater than a preset angular position.

  • Patent number: 7025728
Abstract: A living body is irradiated with a first light beam having a first wavelength and a second light beam having a second wavelength which is different from the first wavelength. The first light beam and the second light beam, which have been reflected or transmitted from the living body, are converted into a first electric signal corresponding to the first wavelength and a second electric signal corresponding to the second wavelength, as the observed pulse data. A light absorbance ratio obtained from the first electric signal and the second electric signal is computed, for each one of frequency ranges dividing an observed frequency band. It is determined that noise is not mixed into the observed pulse wave data in a case where a substantial match exists among light absorbance ratios computed for the respective frequency ranges.

  • Patent number: 7008225
Abstract: A safe brushing is realized without sticking the gum if the bristle tips are once inserted in a pocket of a tooth by using a system having a brush of which the bristle tips automatically vibrate in a direction at right angles with the direction of length of the bristles. A brush lever 5 having a brush 4 is swingingly supported in the nozzle 1, a flow passage 3 leading to a blow-out port 1a at an end of a nozzle 1 is partly bent, and a resilient member 7 is provided at the bent portion to urge the brush lever 5 in a direction opposite to the direction of flow of water, so that the brush lever 5 oscillates reciprocally due to the resilient force produced by the resilient member 7 and the pressure of water flow, causing the bristle tips of the brush 4 to oscillate in a direction at right angles with the direction of length of the bristles outside the nozzle 1.

  • Publication number: 20050273224
Abstract: A watercraft can have a controller that can change a speed mode between a speed set mode and a regular mode in response to an operation of an auto cruise switch. The controller can return the speed mode to a regular mode under various conditions. For example, but without limitation, when an engine rotational speed reaches “zero” or nearly “zero” (i.e., an engine operation stops or nearly stops) while the speed mode is in the speed set mode. The controller can be configured to follow the actuation of the cruise switch only when the switch is operated in the regular mode.
