  • Patent number: 5185399
Abstract: The invention relates to a resin composition comprising a polyphenylene ether (or blend thereof with a styrene resin), a styrene elastomer, an ethylene-unsaturated carboxylate copolymer modified with an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid or derivative thereof and having a number-average molecular weight above 10,000, and an ethylene-(meth)acrylate copolymer having a number-average molecular weight of 1,500 to 9,000. This composition provides improved processing and moldability, also, molded objects therefrom have improved low temperature impact strength and freedom from delamination.

  • Patent number: 5179161
Abstract: An aromatic polycarbonate resin composition which contains(A) 3-97 parts by weight of an aromatic polycarbonate resin in which the ratio of the phenolic terminal group represented by the following formula I: ##STR1## with respect to the nonphenolic terminal group represented by the following formula II: ##STR2## (in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which may be identical to or different from one another, are selected from a hydrogen atom and alkyl groups containing 20 or fewer carbon atoms which may or may not be substituted with halogen atoms)I/II is 1/19 or higher,(B) 97-3 parts by weight of a polyphenylene ether resin, A+B=100 parts by weight, and(C) 0.5 to 100 parts by weight, with respect to 100 parts by weight of the combined weights of (A) and (B), of a styrene copolymer which has an epxoy or oxazoline group.

  • Patent number: 5104937
Abstract: Thermoplastic resin compositions which contain specified weight proportions of a polyphenylene ether resin, a polyamide resin and a rubber polymer consisting of a mixture of ABA or ABA' types of block copolymers and an AB block copolymer are improved by the presence of a miscibility enhancer. Representative of the miscibility enhancers are citric acid, malic acid, maleic anhydride, trimellitic chloride anhydride and the like. The compositions of the invention have been found to produce molded articles of improved low-temperature impact properties.

  • Patent number: 4399390
Abstract: A built-in starter type fluorescent lamp socket in which the starter is entirely incorporated with the socket with no protruding parts and in which it is not necessary to replace the starter. The socket includes a socket body, pairs of starter contacts and power source contacts operatively positioned in the socket body for making connection with fluorescent lamp pins, and an electronic starter positioned in the socket body and connected to the starter contacts. The electronic starter includes a non-linear dielectric element and a thyristor coupled in parallel and across the starter contacts. The anode of the thyristor is coupled through a Zener diode to the common connection point between voltage division resistors also coupled across the starter contacts. The socket body may include a casing having lamp pin inserting holes and a cover for covering the rear side of the casing wherein the cover may be shaped in the form of a box in which the electronic starter is mounted.

  • Patent number: 4381476
Abstract: A fluorescent lamp starting device in which an electronic starter is provided in the form of a hybrid integrated circuit which is mounted in a standard glow starter case and which can be utilized in a standard glow starter socket of a fluorescent lamp fixture. A nonlinear capacitor and semiconductor switch are coupled in parallel with another and across the external terminals of the starter. The nonlinear capacitor is provided in the form of a thin plate while the semiconductor switch is provided on an IC substrate substantially equal in size to the nonlinear capacitor.
