A leader pin and a magnetic tape are drawn out along the minimal length path from the opening. A door, which is formed in a circular arc shape in plan view, is guided (to suppress looseness) by case screw bosses, protrusion portions and a guide surface while the door rotates to turn at an outer side of a pin stand and the reel without deviating from a movement path along the form of curvature of the door, and thus the opening is opened/closed.

Abstract: A recording tape cartridge in which, even if impact is applied to a vicinity of an opening of a case due to a drop or the like, a leader pin does not fall out from pin holding portions. The recording tape cartridge has a case which is substantially rectangular, and at which an upper case and a lower case formed of synthetic resin are joined together with peripheral walls thereof abutting one another, and which rotatably accommodates a single reel on which a recording tape is wound; an opening, formed at a corner portion of the case at a side of loading the case into a drive device, for pulling-out of a leader pin attached to an end portion of the recording tape; and pin holding portions formed at an inner surface of the upper case and an inner surface of the lower case, and holding the leader pin in a vicinity of the opening. A draft of a ridge line portion of the case in a vicinity of the opening is 1° or less.

Abstract: A recording tape cartridge features a case which rotatably and vertically movably accommodates a reel on which recording tape is wound. An aperture for drawing out the recording tape is formed in a peripheral wall of the case. The aperture features a projection portion which projects upward from a lower edge thereof. A leader block for drawing out the recording tape is fixed to an end portion of the recording tape, and can close off the aperture. The cartridge further includes a first urging member, which urges the reel downward, and a second urging member, which urges the leader block downward further than an upper edge of the projection portion. The leader block is unlikely to disengage even when the case is subjected to an impact by dropping or the like, and a recording tape cartridge with little risk of the leader block and recording tape becoming damaged is provided.

Abstract: The present invention provides a recording tape cartridge comprising: a rectangular case having, at a corner portion, an opening for pulling-out of one end of a recording tape, and accommodating the recording tape; and a cover member which opens and closes the opening. The opening is formed by cutting-off the corner portion of the rectangular case, and when the cover member at least opens the opening, the cover member is accommodated within the case.

The leader portion has a leader tape connected to the recording tape, and holding blocks provided at vertical direction outer sides of a distal end of the leader tape. In a state in which the holding blocks are held so as to face an opening of the case, the holding blocks are exposed from cut-out portions. Due to the holding blocks being nipped and held by a guiding mechanism of a drive device and the guiding mechanism moving, the holding blocks are separated from the case.

The brake member is arranged to selectively assume a rotation locking position where the brake member is engaged with the reel to prevent the reel from being rotated and a rotation permitting position where the brake member is disengaged from the reel to permit the reel to be rotated. The lock member is arranged, when the brake member assumes the rotation locking position, to be interposed between the upper surface of the reel and a top plate of the case, thereby preventing the reel from being moved axially thereof.

Abstract: A tape cartridge which, in a state in which a reel cannot rotate, restricts movement of a braking member and restricts movement of the reel. In a state in which engaging walls of locking members are engaged with a top edge portion of a reel hub, step portions and the engaging walls abut a top surface of an upper flange and an inner peripheral surface of the reel hub. In this way, when the cartridge is not in use, vertical direction movement of the reel is restricted. Even if impact of a drop or the like is applied to the recording tape cartridge 10, the reel does not rise up. Accordingly, a problem such as the braking member tilting and becoming anchored does not arise. It is also possible to overcome a problem of the upper flange or a lower flange of the reel breaking due to the reel moving within a case when the tape cartridge is dropped.
