  • Publication number: 20050078561
Abstract: The present invention relates to sliding parts, precision parts and timepieces and electronic equipment using those parts. Sliding parts are composed by a resin in which the degree of orientation of a fibrous filler is higher at the portion serving as the sliding surface than inside the sliding part, and the fibrous filler is oriented along the sliding surface on the sliding surface. Alternatively, precision parts are composed by a resin to which has been added carbon fibers for which a carbon compound is thermally decomposed to carbon in the vapor phase and simultaneously grown directly into fibers simultaneous to this thermal decomposition. Moreover, timepieces and electronic equipment are composed by these sliding parts or these precision parts.

  • Patent number: 4376810
Abstract: An electrochemical alkaline cell of the type comprising an anode, cathode and electrolyte for generating electrical energy and exhibiting an output discharge voltage comprises a consumable anode composed of zinc-indium-mercury alloy. The indium constituent is present in an amount of from more than 2% to 10% by weight and the mercury constituent is present in an amount 2% to 14% by weight with respect to the weight amount of the zinc constituent thereby obtaining a cell discharge voltage at one voltage level during substantially the whole useful life of the cell due to consumption of the zinc constituent followed by an abrupt lowering of the cell discharge voltage to a distinctly lower voltage level for the remainder of the cell useful life due to consumption of the indium and mercury constituents. The abrupt change of the cell discharge voltage to the lower level signifies that the cell is near exhaustion and should be replaced.

  • Patent number: 4144382
Abstract: The active cathode material of an alkaline cell is a mixture of monovalent silver oxide and graphite or a compound of which the main ingredient is divalent silver oxide. The active anode material is powdered mercury-indium-zinc alloy mixed with a suitable binder and pressed into formed or gelled state. After almost all of the zinc of the anode material is exhausted during the course of discharge of the cell, a small quantity of indium acts as the anode active material so as to continue to supply current for a period of time but at lower voltage. By detecting the voltage drop, it can be determined that the cell is approaching the end of its useful life.
