  • Publication number: 20120103202
Abstract: A motorised citrus press has a reamer and an actuating arm. The arm supports a fruit dome. The movement of the arm causes the activation of a first switch and the reamer is associated with a second switch. The motor receives electrical power only when both the first and second switches cooperate.

  • Publication number: 20120091739
Abstract: An electrically powered lock, e.g. an electric strike, includes a housing and a latch mounted with respect to the housing so as to be pivotable about a latch axis between an open position and a locking position. The latch has a latch face and a segment that projects laterally of both the latch axis and the latch face. A locking element is mounted for rotation about a lock axis normal to but offset from the latch axis for selectively blocking the laterally projecting segment to hold the latch in the locking position or allowing the latch to move to the open position to thereby place the lock respectively in a locked condition or an unlocked condition. An electrically powered driver is disposed within the housing laterally of the latch axis actuable in a direction generally parallel to the latch axis for effecting rotation of the locking element.

  • Patent number: 8152560
Abstract: A receptacle assembly includes a housing having a front mating face and receptacles configured to receive plugs therein through the front mating face, where the plugs have connectivity pins attached thereto. The receptacle module includes connectivity sensor areas associated with the receptacles, where each connectivity sensor area is positioned adjacent the corresponding receptacle. Each connectivity sensor area has a first connectivity sensor and a second connectivity sensor that is electrically isolated from the first connectivity sensor when the plug is disconnected from the receptacle. Both the first and second connectivity sensors are configured to be engaged by different connectivity pins of the plug when the plug is received in the corresponding receptacle to form a sense circuit.

  • Patent number: 8123916
Abstract: Apparatus for generating gas by electrolysis of a liquid comprises an electrolysis cell and a housing for the liquid. The housing comprises a first chamber for storing the liquid for supply to the electrolysis cell, the first chamber having an inlet for replenishing the liquid, and an outlet through which liquid is supplied from the first chamber to the electrolysis cell, and a second chamber for containing liquid which is a product of the electrolysis reaction and which is enriched with a first gaseous product of the electrolysis reaction, the second chamber having a gas outlet for controlled release of the first gaseous product. A first channel in the housing connects the first and second chambers. The channel provides a trap for liquid which can provide a barrier to passage of gas between the first and second chambers, irrespective of the level to which liquid in the first chamber falls during normal operation.

  • Publication number: 20120046121
Abstract: Methods and devices are provided for teeing a golf ball. A first tee has a detachably coupled post and base. The post may be a cylinder, such as a hollow cylinder, and may be made of deformable resilient material that reliably returns to a vertical position after receiving momentum originated from a golf club. The first post end includes a threaded shaft that engages with a tapped aperture of the base. The second post end presents a repeatable height from the base when the threaded shaft is fully seated into the tapped aperture. The post may be coupled with and decoupled from the base by the golfer applying manual force to alternately screw the threaded shaft into the base for coupling and then away from the base for decoupling. A plurality of posts of different lengths are provided. The base may be coupled with a mat.

  • Patent number: 8116855
Abstract: The spatial position of a fetus within the womb is determined and monitored through analysis of ECG waveform data received from a set of electrodes that are attached to a maternal abdomen in a predetermined configuration. The waveform is compared with a set of predefined stored templates to determine the position of the fetus. An event logger may determine the number of fetal movements during a period of time.

  • Publication number: 20110231023
Abstract: A door closer assembly is provided, including a valve regulating an amount of hydraulic fluid that flows through the valve. The amount of hydraulic fluid flowing through the valve controls a force generated by the door closer assembly on a door. A first sensor measures an angular position of the door, and a second sensor measures an angular position of the valve. The angular position of the valve determines the amount of hydraulic fluid flowing through the valve. A controller controls the adjustment of the valve based on the angular position of the door and the angular position of the valve.

  • Publication number: 20110230599
Abstract: Members including components of windows and doors are formed by a method that includes obtaining a biopolymer and a filler, feeding them into an extruder, controlling at least the temperature of the biopolymer and the filler within the extruder to promote the initiation of nucleation of the biopolymer, extruding the composite through a die of the extruder to form an extruded member and controlling at least the cooling rate of the extruded member after it leaves the die to promote crystallization of the biopolymer. Methods are disclosed for compounding and pelletizing as well as direct extrusion of the composite. In a preferred embodiment, the biopolymer is polylactic acid (PLA) and the filler is wood fiber. In addition, neat PLA formulations are also disclosed. Further, the heat distortion temperature and the hydrolysis resistance of these members are greatly increased through specific processing conditions and the addition of strategic quantities of additives.

  • Patent number: 7963071
Abstract: A louvre window system has an end clip (10) which is formed with at least one internal drainage channel (14) which can drain water through the end clip (10). A number of such clips can rotate between an open position and a closed position. The clips (10) are aligned when in the closed position which insures that water can drain from an upper clip through a lower clip. The clips (10) have a low friction design which enables a larger number of louvers to be rotated by a single handle (55) without placing too much load on the handle and on the louvre operating mechanism. A simple efficient louver operating mechanism (27; 37) is used to operate the end clips.
