  • Publication number: 20190020926
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided herein for displaying recommendations that are temporally relevant to activities of a user and are contextually relevant to a portion of viewed media. This may be accomplished by a media guidance application identifying activities a user has planned, as well as respective times for which each of the plurality of activities was planned to be performed by the user. The media guidance application may filter the activities by determining which of the first plurality of activities has a corresponding respective time that is within a threshold period of time. The media guidance application may then identify characteristics of each filtered activity and of a media asset that the user is consuming at the present moment, and may compute whether the characteristics match. If the characteristics match, the media guidance application may generate for display a recommendation relating to the respective activity.

  • Publication number: 20180362234
Abstract: Apparatuses and embodiments related to container carrying devices. A container carrying device includes a plurality of full or partial apertures, each with a neck-engaging locking mechanism to receive and hold a container. The neck-engaging locking mechanism can include a mechanism to assist to hold and retain a container in the container carrying device, such as a clamping finger, a vertically oriented flange, a locking tab, etc. In some embodiments, a container carrying device can have a mechanical release strip that enables a portion of the container carrying device to be torn off, such as along a tear line that passes through one or more apertures. When a mechanical release strip is torn off, the container being held by the aperture through which the mechanical release strip passes is freed.

  • Publication number: 20180284881
Abstract: An attraction capable of incorporating user interactivity. The attraction utilizes a slide for supporting a rider, with a ride vehicle or without. The ride vehicle may support one or multiple riders that allows the riders to manipulate its position or other associated elements while on the attraction. Upon manipulating an element, a signal may be transmitted. This signal may aid in determining whether a rider has successfully manipulated the element, for example, at an appropriate time. Sensors along the attraction may also be configured to track the user and/or ride vehicle via determining vicinity of the user and/or ride vehicle at a known location. Various rewards and/or features may be enabled based upon successful manipulation and/or user position. The attraction may include one or more illuminating features. Statistics or other information may be determined, stored, and/or provided (e.g., using mobile applications and/or scoreboards) relating to user performance.

  • Patent number: 10073814
Abstract: A method for representing and solving algebraic equations that allows a user to view and solve algebraic equation with a virtual gear system. The virtual gear system includes a virtual primary cog and virtual secondary cogs. The virtual primary cog represents a range of outcomes for the virtual gear system and contains a number of teeth that is quantitatively greater than a numerical constant of the algebraic equation; amongst the teeth is a target tooth that represents the numerical constant. Each virtual secondary cogs represent a term of the algebraic equation and includes a coefficient and a variable. Each of the virtual secondary cogs contains a number of teeth equal to the coefficient. The equation is solved by rotating the virtual secondary cogs until the target tooth is aligned with a fixed pointer where rotation of the virtual secondary cog represents a value input for the variable of a term.

  • Patent number: 9910159
Abstract: A method and apparatus are presented for providing a compact extended ephemeris package for GNSS processing. An extended ephemeris service provides orbit trajectories and clock corrections which are predicted into the future for navigation satellites. The extended ephemeris package format used allows the ephemeris information to be sent quickly and efficiently, even when using a low bandwidth communication network. Client GNSS receiver devices obtain the extended ephemeris package and extract the satellite ephemeris information for later use. This allows a client device to operate for many days or weeks without needing to decode or receive new satellite ephemeris information.

  • Patent number: 9904136
Abstract: A multiple-pane insulating glazing unit may include multiple panes of transparent material and a layer of electrically controllable optically active material that provides controllable privacy for the glazing unit. Despite efforts to fully black out the multiple-pane insulating glazing unit by switching the optically active material from a transmissive state to a privacy state, the glazing unit may exhibit some residual direct visible transmission. In some examples, the multiple-pane insulating glazing unit may include a light emitting element positioned to direct light at the layer of optically active material to address this issue. Light emitted by the light emitting element may reflect and mask residual visibility through the electrically controllable optically active material.
