  • Patent number: 6791834
Abstract: In a liquid-cooling system for a notebook personal computer having a body part including a CPU and a chip set respectively mounted on a mother board and an HDD, and a display part rotatably supported by the body part, a heat receiving head is fixed to at least one heat generation part including the CPU. A tube filled with cooling liquid is connected to the heat receiving head. The tube connected to the heat receiving head is disposed in series on at least one heat generation part including the chip set so as to collect the heat generated from each heat generation part. The tube is also laid in a meandering or zigzagging pattern between a liquid crystal panel and a housing of the display part. The heat generated from each heat generation part is absorbed at part of the tube by the cooling liquid that circulates in the tube and functions as a heat transfer medium. The absorbed heat is then radiated at another part of the tube.

  • Publication number: 20040082179
Abstract: A metal coating-forming method and a method of manufacturing a chip electronic component is performed such that a wiring pattern or external electrodes can easily be formed by the use of a readily removable coating layer without deterioration in the safety of the work environment. The method includes the steps of forming a coating layer on a component element surface with an ink paint that is soluble in a rinsing solution principally including alcohol, removing the coating layer disposed on both ends where external electrodes are to be formed by a blasting process, forming an electroless metal coating over the component element, and rinsing the resulting component element to remove the coating layer disposed on a region where no external electrodes are formed and the electroless metal coating attached thereon.

  • Patent number: 6725525
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an inductor includes the step of molding a magnetic material formed by kneading a magnetic material and a resin to form a magnetic material compact body in which the internal conductor is partially exposed from the external surface thereof. Then the surface of the magnetic material compact body is plated to form the external electrodes including a plated metal film and connected to the internal conductor. The surface of the magnetic material compact body is roughened, and then the external electrodes are formed via plating.

  • Publication number: 20040027801
Abstract: In an information processing apparatus such as a space-saving type personal computer having a liquid-cooling type cooling system, the presence of a cooling liquid, the presence of a frozen state of the cooling liquid and the temperature of the cooling liquid are detected. When a freeze of the cooling liquid is detected, a CPU is throttled down to defrost the cooling liquid, or the cooling liquid is heated to be prevented from being frozen. Alternatively, a warning of detection of a freeze may be displayed. Alternatively, activation of the system may be stopped or operation of the system may be interrupted. By such measures, system failure is prevented from being caused by leaking, shortage, freezing, etc. of the cooling liquid.

  • Patent number: 6652053
Abstract: The present invention allows the detection of ink in a printing head that can be widely applied to various printing systems by significantly simplifying its configuration. There are a heater for supplying an energy to eject ink, a driver for driving the heater, and a detection electrode capable of detecting a voltage variation that arises between the heater and the driver and that depends on the driving of the heater. Furthermore, an insulating film that covers the surface of the detection electrode protects the detection electrode from chemical or physical change. Furthermore, a reference element group or a reference unit that produces a signal as a reference of the detection signal avoids the influence of noise. Furthermore, an energy-generating element and another signal source improve the accuracy of ink detection. A drive pulse which is insufficient to eject ink may be supplied to the heater to improve the accuracy of ink detection.

  • Patent number: 6647321
Abstract: In an information processing apparatus, a heat-generating portion including at least a CPU is cooled by circulation of a cooling liquid, the temperature of the cooling liquid is measured and the operating condition of a pump for circulating the cooling liquid is obtained in accordance with the measured temperature of the cooling liquid. The pump is operated on the basis of the operating condition to control the flow rate of the circulated cooling liquid. Further, even after the system for the information processing apparatus stops, the circulation of the cooling liquid is continued until the temperature of the heat-generating portion becomes not higher than a predetermined value.

Abstract: An inductor and a manufacturing method for the inductor includes disposing a spacer pin defining a core, and which includes a magnetic sinter, in a mold, and placing a coil so as to surround the spacer pin. A composite material which has a permeability that is different from that of the magnetic sinter and which includes a mixture of a powdered magnetic material and a resin, is then injected into the mold to obtain a molded body having embedded therein the coil and the spacer pin. Next, external electrodes are formed on outside surfaces of the molded body such that both ends of the coil are connected to the external electrodes.

  • Patent number: 6474686
Abstract: A folded-up air bag is accommodated in a module cover of a steering wheel, and a peripheral edge of an opening in the air bag is fixed to a retainer supporting an inflator. The folded-up air bag is covered from a rear side of a vehicle to a front side of the vehicle by a deployment-limiting sheet disposed along an inner surface of the module cover and fixed at one end thereof to the retainer. The deployment-limiting sheet is longer than a length of an inner periphery of the module cover in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle body. Thus, it is possible to inhibit the air bag from being expanded rearwards of the vehicle body at an initial stage of deployment by the deployment-limiting sheet, thereby avoiding the early interference with an occupant.
