  • Patent number: 6324201
Abstract: A light emitting semiconductor element comprises a first additive layer which is added into a cladding layer or a middle layer. The first additive layer has a lattice constant which is different from a lattice constant of a semiconductor substrate. The light emitting semiconductor element is attached to a heat sink to form a laser device. The heat sink gives deformation to the light emitting semiconductor element. The first additive layer generates strain therein and suppresses influence of the deformation.

  • Publication number: 20010043632
Abstract: A self-sustained pulsating laser diode in which a region in an active layer functions as a saturable absorber has at least five and no more than ten quantum wells, p-type cladding layer flat part with a layer thickness of at least 300 nm and no greater than 500 nm, and a p-type cladding layer flat part with a carrier density of at least 1×1017 cm−3 and no greater than 5×1017 cm−3. This laser diode achieves a sufficiently small current distribution compared with the light distribution in the lateral direction, thereby enabling stable self-sustained pulsating operation up to a high temperature, which was difficult to achieve in the past.

  • Patent number: 6313971
Abstract: In a suspension provided with a load beam and a flexure, a circular first reference hole is formed in a portion of the flexure nearer to one end thereof than the center, while an oval second reference hole is formed in a portion of the flexure nearer to the other end. The load beam is provided with first and second burred holes corresponding to the first and second reference holes, respectively, in position. Each burred hole has a flange portion on its inner peripheral portion, projecting above the surface of the load beam. The flange portion of the first burred hole is fitted into the first reference hole with the flexure put on top of the load beam in the thickness direction. The flange portion of the second burred hole is fitted into the second reference hole. By doing this, the relative positions of the load beam and the flexure are restricted.

  • Publication number: 20010013989
Abstract: For a balance adjustment due to a reduction in size and weight of an actuator, an arm portion, an axis attaching portion, and a coil supporting portion are arranged so that the centers of gravity on the coil side are located on a straight line connecting a rotational center and the center of gravity on the head side. Further, the improvement of an assembling efficiency of a VCM, an increase in torque, a one-touch fixing of an FPC connecting band, a noise prevention of a read pattern, and an insulation between the base and cover due to a bias of an MR read head are accomplished. A sector mark is detected by comparing a peak detection pulse and its reference polarity signal. A redundancy is provided to a reference detection polarity signal so that a read signal can be detected even if any one of the read signals of the sector marks is dropped out.

The plurality of through holes are provided extending from one surface of the dielectric block toward an opposite surface. Surfaces, except for an open end surface, of said dielectric block are clad with a conductive material layer and a groove is provided on the open end surface between a set of adjacent through holes. The groove is provided offset toward a through hole by an offset quantity.

  • Patent number: 6213015
Abstract: A printer for printing an image on a paper paid out by a pick-up roller and separated from the other papers by a separating device includes a kind-of-paper setting device for allowing the operator of the printer to select and input the kind of papers to be used. A controller automatically selects, among transport conditions stored beforehand in correspondence to the kinds of papers, optimal transport conditions matching with the kind of papers input by the operator in response to a signal received from the kind-of-paper setting device. The operator should only select and input the kind of papers while watching an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) provided on an operation panel. The printer obviates troubles relating to the transport of papers.

  • Patent number: 6123329
Abstract: A paper feeder for feeding papers to an image forming apparatus and a paper tray elevation device therefore are disclosed. A first tray is movable up and down with a plurality of papers stacked thereon. A paper feed member feeds the papers from the first tray in a preselected direction of paper feed. A second tray is positioned beside the first tray in substantially the horizontal direction and movable up and down with a plurality of papers stacked thereon. A shifting device shifts the entire paper stack from the second tray to the first tray. A horizontal elevating mechanism elevates the first tray while maintaining it in substantially the horizontal position. An interlocking mechanism at least elevates, when papers of greater in size than the papers to be stacked on the first or second tray are stacked over the first and second trays in a single stack, the second tray in interlocked relation to the elevation of the first tray while maintaining the second tray in substantially the horizontal position.

  • Patent number: 5734216
Abstract: A magnet rotor for a synchronous motor includes a yoke formed of a magnetic material. A generally cylindrical permanent magnet is disposed around the yoke magnet and has N and S poles alternately located in the circumferential direction of the permanent magnet. An adhesive is filled in the clearance between the outer peripheral surface of the yoke and the inner peripheral surface of the permanent magnet. The adhesive is hardened at a hardening temperature, which is around a maximum temperature encountered during operation of the motor to accomplish bonding between the yoke and the permanent magnet. The clearance between the yoke and the permanent magnet has a dimension L given by the following formula:L.gtoreq.(E.times..DELTA.L) / .sigma.swhere E is a tensile elastic modulus of the adhesive; .DELTA.L is a change amount of the clearance upon thermal expansion or contraction; and .sigma.s is a tensile stress applied to the adhesive.

  • Patent number: 5718503
Abstract: An illumination apparatus is disclosed which efficiently irradiates an irradiation surface without destroying the symmetry of an illuminance distribution at the irradiation surface. A light source is displaced from a center of curvature of a spherical mirror in a direction in a displacement plane which includes an axis of symmetry of the spherical mirror so as to form a light source image at a position off the light source. Due to this, a ray from the spherical mirror passes off the light source (i.e., the position of the light source image), and therefore, a reflection ray is not shielded, absorbed nor otherwise disturbed by the light source, which in turn prevents deterioration in the efficiency of utilization of light.

  • Patent number: 5693337
Abstract: A lipid emulsion which comprises (A) an oil component, (B) an emulsifying agent containing yolk lecithin and/or soybean lecithin, and (C) water, wherein the lipid emulsion further comprises citric acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and at least one member selected from the group consisting of methionine, phenylalanine, serine, histidine and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, provided that it does not simultaneously contain methionine and phenylalanine. The addition of citric acid and histidine, methionine, phenylalanine and/or serine to a lipid emulsion containing natural lecithin as an emulsifying agent permits the prevention of change of color and formation of oil drops associated with the conventional natural lecithin-containing lipid emulsion due to the synergistic effect of the foregoing additives.

  • Patent number: 5379995
Abstract: A sheet feed device for feeding a sheet to a printer or similar image recorder which records an image on the sheet. A table is disposed below and operatively connected to the image recorder. A plurality of trays are received in the table, and each is loaded with a stack of sheets. The trays each has a base disposed in the tray and an elevation plate elevatably mounted on the base. A sheet feed mechanism feeds the sheets from a desired one of the trays to the image recorder. A drive mechanism is associated with each of the trays for moving the base in a predetermined direction over a predetermined distance within the tray. When the sheet is deviated in position from an image to be recorded, the device automatically corrects the deviation within a short period of time.
