  • Publication number: 20220115037
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to a head assembly of a data storage device. The data storage device may include magnetic media embedded in the device or magnetic media from an insertable cassette or cartridge (e.g., in an LTO drive), where the magnetic head assembly reads from and writes to the magnetic media. During drive operation, the magnetic media moves across the magnetic head assembly. The magnetic head assembly is spaced a distance from the magnetic media such that non-contact recording occurs between the magnetic head assembly and the magnetic media. The magnetic media is supported by either a back plate or an air film generated by one or more fillet edges of the back plate and the velocity of the magnetic media as the magnetic media moves across the magnetic head assembly.

  • Patent number: 9897958
Abstract: An image forming apparatus that includes a first control unit and a second control unit. The first control unit performs control of a load by outputting a pulse signal based on a clock signal output by a first oscillator. The second control unit is connected to the first control unit by a serial communication signal line, and performs control of a load by outputting a pulse signal based on a clock signal output by a second oscillator. The second control unit measures a width of the pulse signal output from the first control unit via the serial communication signal line, compares a pulse signal width designated by an adjustment request with the measured width of the pulse signal, and corrects, based on a result of the comparing, the width of the pulse signal that is based on the clock signal output by the second oscillator.

  • Publication number: 20170125067
Abstract: An example storage device may include a sealed enclosure that encloses an atmosphere comprising a gas. The sealed enclosure may enclose a storage medium and a read-write head including a thermal flying-height control (TFC) heater and an embedded contact sensor (ECS) including a DC resistance (DCR) sensor. A DC resistance exhibited by the DCR sensor may be indicative of a temperature sensed adjacent the DCR sensor. The storage device may include a controller. The controller may cause a current to be applied to the TFC heater to generate heat, receive a signal from the ECS indicative of the temperature sensed by the DCR sensor, and determine a composition of the atmosphere or a concentration of the gas based on the signal.
