  • Patent number: 11189307
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to a base and related methods for write and read heads. In one example, the base and related methods are used as part of a magnetic storage device, for example a magnetic media drive such as a hard disk drive (HDD) or a magnetic tape drive (e.g., a tape embedded drive). The base includes one or more base bodies formed of a ceramic material. Each base body includes an inward surface, an outward surface opposing the inward surface, a lower surface, and an angled upper surface disposed above the lower surface. Each base body includes a vertical opening extending between the upper surface and the lower surface. In one example, two base bodies are bonded together. In one example, the two base bodies combine to form a single base body of the base that is monolithic and unitary.

  • Patent number: 9897958
Abstract: An image forming apparatus that includes a first control unit and a second control unit. The first control unit performs control of a load by outputting a pulse signal based on a clock signal output by a first oscillator. • Publication number: 20170125067
Abstract: An example storage device may include a sealed enclosure that encloses an atmosphere comprising a gas. The sealed enclosure may enclose a storage medium and a read-write head including a thermal flying-height control (TFC) heater and an embedded contact sensor (ECS) including a DC resistance (DCR) sensor. A DC resistance exhibited by the DCR sensor may be indicative of a temperature sensed adjacent the DCR sensor. The storage device may include a controller. The controller may cause a current to be applied to the TFC heater to generate heat, receive a signal from the ECS indicative of the temperature sensed by the DCR sensor, and determine a composition of the atmosphere or a concentration of the gas based on the signal.

  • Patent number: 8997079
Abstract: An image forming apparatus which makes it possible to perform an image forming operation even during update of a control program. The image forming apparatus is provided with distributed module controllers each including a sub CPU and a flash ROM storing a control program for controlling the sub CPU. The main CPU of the image forming apparatus updates the control programs stored in the respective flash ROMs. The main CPU displays a screen that enables selection of functions to be used in an image forming job executed by the image forming apparatus. During execution of update of a control program targeted for update, out of the selectable functions, the main CPU disables a function which uses a sub CPU associated with the control program.

  • Patent number: 8989203
Abstract: Provided is an electronic device capable of performing stable communications between a plurality of electronic devices connected in series. A communication device (121) is inserted and connected to a serial communication channel between a host controller (101) and a communication device (141) at a subsequent stage, and includes a buffer (124) for temporarily accumulating a first data received from the communication device (141) at the subsequent stage. The communication device (121) monitors a communication situation with respect to the host controller (101) and the communication device (141), accumulates the first data in the buffer (124) when a second data to be transmitted from the communication device (121) to the host controller (101) is being transmitted to the host controller (101), and transmits the first data accumulated in the buffer (124) to the host controller (101) in response to the finish of transmission of the second data.
