Abstract: A secondary battery system includes an electronic control unit (ECU) that estimates surface stress generated in a negative-electrode active material upon incorporation or removal of lithium in a negative electrode of a battery assembly. The ECU calculates an estimated value of the surface stress from a difference obtained by subtracting a reference lithium amount from an amount of lithium contained in the negative-electrode active material, using a linear relationship between the difference and the surface stress. The ECU sets the surface stress to yield stress when the magnitude of the estimated value is larger than that of the yield stress (compressive stress or tensile stress) of the active material, and employs the estimated value as the surface stress when the magnitude of the estimated value is smaller than that of the yield stress.
Abstract: A secondary battery system includes: a secondary battery having an electrode containing an active material; and an electronic control unit configured to execute an SOC estimation process of estimating an SOC of the secondary battery. The electronic control unit is configured to: i) calculate the surface stress from a use history of the secondary battery; ii) calculate the amount of change in OCV from the calculated surface stress iii) correct an estimated OCV with the use of the amount of change in OCV; the estimated OCV being estimated from a voltage value and current value of the secondary battery; and iv) estimate an SOC corresponding to the corrected estimated OCV as the SOC of the secondary battery.
Abstract: If a charging quantity charged to a battery pack since switching from discharging to charging is more than or equal to a reference charging quantity, an ECU estimates the SOC from the OCV by referring to a charging OCV. If a discharging quantity discharged from the battery pack since switching from charging to discharging is more than or equal to a reference discharging quantity, the ECU estimates the SOC from the OCV by referring to a discharging OCV. If the electric quantity is less than the reference charging quantity or if the electric quantity is more than the reference discharging quantity, the ECU estimates the SOC from the OCV using a straight line for supplementing SOC-OCV characteristics in a region enclosed by the charging OCV and the discharging OCV.

Abstract: A speed estimation apparatus for an AC motor includes a model deviation calculation unit, first and second angular velocity estimation units, and an adder. The deviation calculation unit calculates a model deviation based on a voltage, a current, and an estimated angular velocity of the motor. The first angular velocity estimation unit calculates a first estimated angular velocity as a low-frequency component including a DC component of a real angular velocity based on the model deviation. The second angular velocity estimation unit calculates a second estimated angular velocity as a high-frequency component of a real angular velocity based on a specific high-frequency component of the model deviation. The adder adds the first and second estimated angular velocities together. An addition value of the first and second estimated angular velocities is fed back as the estimated angular velocity to the deviation calculation unit.

Abstract: A method of recycling a battery pack includes first to third steps. The first step is a step of estimating an amount of generation of Ni2O3H in a positive electrode of the battery pack based on a voltage value and a temperature of the battery pack. The second step is a step of recycling the battery pack for a high-capacity application when the estimated amount of generation is equal to or smaller than a prescribed reference amount. The third step is a step of recycling the battery pack for a high input-and-output application when the estimated amount of generation is greater than the reference amount and not greater than a reference amount.
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a tubular housing having a partition wall extending in a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the tubular housing and a bus bar embedded in the partition wall of the housing in a state of penetrating the partition wall in the longitudinal direction. The partition wall is located at a substantially center in the longitudinal direction. A through hole is formed at a position of the bus bar at which the bus bar is embedded in the partition wall. A part of the partition wall is filled in the through hole. A range of the partition wall away from the position at which the bus bar is embedded in the partition wall has a thinned part.
Abstract: A battery system includes a chargeable and dischargeable secondary battery and a controller that estimates the deterioration state or the charge state of the secondary battery. When estimating the deterioration state or the charge state, the controller uses an average ion concentration between a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The average ion concentration varies depending on an electric current flowing through the secondary battery. The average ion concentration between the electrodes can be calculated with a computing expression that includes a surface pressure of the secondary battery as a variable. The surface pressure of the secondary battery can be detected by a pressure sensor. The surface pressure of the secondary battery can also be estimated from an electric current flowing through the secondary battery.

Abstract: [Task] To accurately estimate a distribution of concentration of lithium in an active material. [Means for Solution] A battery system has a lithium-ion secondary battery (1) and a controller (300). The lithium-ion secondary battery (1) employs a two-phase coexistence type positive electrode active material (141b).
