  • Patent number: 5721901
Abstract: A method, system and program for providing a graphical interface for a database are accomplished by the operation of a process in the memory of a processor. A selected entry in the database is dynamically used as input to a conditional definition dialog box. The definition of individual conditions, the definition of the relationship of conditions to the selected entries, the editing of conditions, and the editing of the relationship of conditions is simplified and rendered dynamic and interactive for the user thereby facilitating the completion of the task being performed. The user need not remember the related column information for a specified predicate because the system will provide that information simultaneously with the conditional definition in a form that supports the direct manipulation of the related information. The selected entries and their relationship are displayed simultaneously with the definition activities for both the initial definition and any subsequent editing activities.

  • Patent number: 5711552
Abstract: A threadless coupling for pressurized systems includes, in one form, a nut member and a mating member. The nut member, in one embodiment, has a first axial end for attachment to the pressure sensitive control, a second axial end configured for engagement with the mating member, and a housing extending between the first axial end and the second axial end. The housing includes a pair of openings spaced 180.degree. apart and configured for locking engagement with a pair of retaining tabs extending from an outer surface of the mating member. Each housing opening includes a step surface and a seating surface. During assembly, the mating member retaining tabs are positioned 90.degree. out of alignment with the housing openings. A portion of the mating member including the retaining tabs is then inserted into the nut member. When the retaining tabs are axially aligned with the housing openings, the nut member is turned 90.degree. so that the housing openings are aligned with the retaining tabs.

  • Patent number: 5657050
Abstract: A cursor is displayed with one of several different cursor orientations depending on the current position to which the cursor points on a display screen. The "cursor orientation" refers to the alignment of the cursor relative to an edge of the display screen. When the cursor points to a position that is within a predetermined distance from one of the edges of the display screen, the cursor is not visible on the display screen. Upon detecting that the cursor is not visible on the display screen, the cursor is displayed with a different cursor orientation such that the cursor is visible on the display screen. Preferably, the cursor orientation is selected so that when the cursor is displayed with the new cursor orientation, the entire cursor is visible on the display screen.

  • Patent number: 4106270
Abstract: The gathering units of the harvesting header diverge downwardly and forwardly from a common discharge zone at the upper rear end of the header, the two middle units being disposed in a plane below that of the two outer units and having their upper crop discharge outlets spaced forwardly from the corresponding discharge outlets of the outer units. The conveying elements of the outer units at least partially overlap conveying elements of the two inner gathering units adjacent the discharge outlets of the latter. Each gathering unit has its own individual standing crop cutter assembly, the assemblies of the two inner units being set back with respect to those of the outer units but being substantially the same height for uniform stubble height. Each assembly has a rotary cutter in combination with a stationary shear plate, both of which are mounted on the same side of the crop conveying passage of the unit.

  • Patent number: 4054171
Abstract: A method and apparatus for of starting the continuous casting of a first metal in the mold of a continuous casting machine, in which a molten second metal having a melting point lower than that of the first metal is first introduced into the mold of the casting machine at a temperature substantially below the melting point of the first metal and in which the introduction of the second metal is discontinued and the casting of the first metal is begun after cooling of the mold has caused the second metal to form a solidified plug within the mold and while the cooling of the mold continues. The apparatus includes means for the sequential casting of the second and first metals in a casting machine while the casting machine is being cooled and the method allows metals of very high melting point, such as steel, to be continuously cast without damaging the mold or creating undue danger to the operator.

  • Patent number: 4040636
Abstract: A composite packing comprising a first ring positioned between a pair of other rings, the rings being of deformable material but with the first ring being more readily deformable than the pair of rings, each of the pair of rings having an undercut recess facing the first ring, and the first ring having axial extensions projecting into the undercut recesses for holding the rings together as a unitary assembly.

  • Patent number: 4015972
Abstract: A sulfur fortified gypsum granule is provided, preferably adapted for agricultural uses so as to give a timed release of sulfate nutrients in soil comprising a combination of at least about 5 percent by weight of elemental sulfur and a major proportion of calcium sulfate which combination has been roll pressure compacted at a mixture temperature of about 110.degree.-230.degree. F to form hard granular shapes.

  • Patent number: 4011602
Abstract: A device for attaching to substantially solid living bone tissue, comprising a body member having an outer surface shaped to fit approximately into an empty space in the tissue and having pores into which the tissue can grow to strengthen the bond between the device and the tissue, and adjustable means for expanding the body member against the tissue to an extent such as to provide a compressive stress capable of maintaining a snug and stable fit and of enhancing the growth of the tissue into the pores in the body member. The expanding means is adjustable to provide a stress between the tissue and the body member in the range of about 150 to 750 psi, typically 150 to 350 psi.
