  • Patent number: 8198778
Abstract: A rotary actuator includes a stator assembly positioned within an outer enclosure. A rotor assembly is positioned adjacent to the stator and is configured to rotate relative thereto and about a centerline axis of the rotary actuator. Each of the outer enclosure, the stator assembly, and the rotor assembly are arranged to carry a magnetic flux therethrough and form a flux path loop, such that as a magnetic flux flows through the outer enclosure, the stator assembly, and the rotor assembly, a torque is generated by rotation of the rotor assembly relative to the stator assembly.

  • Patent number: 8100029
Abstract: Control inceptor systems and associated methods, including inceptors suitable for high-g operations and/or inceptors having a center of rotation located within an operator's grasp region, are disclosed herein. One aspect of the invention is directed toward a control inceptor having a grip coupled to a support. The inceptor is configured so that a center of rotation for movement in at least one plane is located within the grasp region of an operator when an operator grasps the grip. The support is positioned so that when the operator moves the grip (e.g., makes an input movement), the support arcs about the center of rotation.

  • Publication number: 20110203097
Abstract: A rotary actuator includes an outer enclosure having an inner diameter surrounding a hollow interior. A stack of stator laminations, each having a stator diameter greater than the inner diameter of the outer enclosure when in an unflexed state, are also included in the rotary actuator. Each of the stator laminations is configured to flex into a shape so as to be positionable within the outer enclosure and substantially conform to the inner diameter. The stator lamination thus forms a line-to-line fit with at least a portion of the outer enclosure to form an interface having a desirable reluctance.

  • Patent number: 7998515
Abstract: Coffee beans are roasted with heated air in a roasting chamber, and contaminant-laden exhaust air including caffeine entrained therein is discharged from the chamber. While roasting is in progress, the exhaust air from the chamber is heated, directed through a catalytic converter and cooled to a temperature between about 250° F. to 325° F. Thereafter the cooled exhaust air flows through a cooler or condenser where the temperature of the cooled exhaust air is further lowered to between about 100° F. and 155° F., and it is then directed through a HEPA filter to remove caffeine particles that are present in the cooled air. Substantially caffeine-free clean exhaust air can then be discharged from the HEPA filter directly to the surroundings of the roasting machine such as a closed room, e.g. a retail establishment, frequented by persons.

  • Patent number: 7934025
Abstract: A Content-Terminated Direct Memory Access (CT-DMA) circuit autonomously transfers data of an unknown length from a source to a destination, terminating the transfer based on the content of the data. Filter criteria are provided to the CT-DMA prior to the data transfer. The filter criteria include pattern data that are compared to transfer data, and transfer termination rules for interpreting the comparison results. Data are written to the destination until the filter criteria are met. Representative filter criteria may include that one or more units of transfer data match pattern data; that one or more units of transfer data fail to match pattern data; or that one or more units of transfer data match pattern data a predetermined number of times.

  • Patent number: 7873658
Abstract: A method in a data processing system for propagation of filter expressions across multi-layered systems. If a selection criteria expression in a data request received by a first data processing engine from an application is incompatible with selection criteria expressions of a second data processing engine, the data request and the portion of the selection criteria expression that is compatible with selection criteria expressions of the second data processing engine is transmitted to the second data processing engine. If the second data processing engine received a message that matches the compatible portion of the selection criteria expression, the message that matches is transmitted to the first data processing engine. If the message that matches the compatible portion also matches the portion of the selection criteria expression that is incompatible with the selection criteria expressions of the second data processing engine, the message that matches is transmitted to the application.

  • Publication number: 20110006968
Abstract: An antenna mounting apparatus and system is provided for quick and easy installation and removal of antennas that can be utilized with mounting devices and systems. The present apparatus and system allows for a one time routing of transmission medium from the antenna mount, by attaching to a rotatable female connector within the base of the mount, thereby allowing the cable to move freely. This prevents loss of connection as the connector is threaded into the male portion of the upper mount assembly. The barrel assembly may contain a male pin connector threaded within the chamber of the barrel connected to the antenna. The female barrel assembly may then thread onto the male lower assembly where the male and female connectors will adjoin, thus creating a solid connection point with the set screw which will serve to eliminate a loss of conductive connection and reduce theft.
