  • Patent number: 10247367
Abstract: A lighting system includes an optic that has at least two reflective surfaces that are oriented such that they face each other. Further, the lighting system includes a plurality of light emitting diodes that are disposed adjacent one end of the optic. Furthermore, the lighting system includes a lightguide that is disposed adjacent an opposite end of the optic such that an edge of the lightguide is retained within and disposed between the at least two reflective surfaces of the optic. The at least two reflective surfaces of the optic reflect and guide light emitted by the plurality of light emitting diodes to the edge of the lightguide. The light then couples into the lightguide through the edge and is guided towards an opposing edge of the light guide. The light exits the lightguide through the opposing edge and/or major surfaces of the lightguide.

  • Patent number: 10222027
Abstract: A light source, for example a light emitting diode, can emit light and have an associated optical axis. The source can be deployed in applications where it is desirable to have illumination biased laterally relative to the optical axis, such as in a street luminaire where directing light towards a street is beneficial. The source can be coupled to an optic that comprises a cavity. At least a portion of the cavity can have an outline that is egg-shaped in cross section. A backside of the cavity (or a backside portion of the optic) can have an irregular shape for receiving the light emitting diode, for example to form a receptacle shaped to fit a circuit.

  • Patent number: 10190747
Abstract: An optic configured to create an asymmetric pattern of illumination includes a cavity defined by a sidewall. The cavity is oriented to receive light emitted by a light source that is disposed adjacent a light source receiving end of the cavity. Further, the optic includes a totally internally reflective surface that extends circumferentially about the sidewall and is tapered, so as to reflect emitted light that passes through the sidewall of the cavity and into a body of the optic. The totally internally reflective surface can have a form that is different on opposing sides of the cavity. Furthermore, the optic includes a convex surface that is disposed at a light emitting end of the sidewall to condense, focus, or collimate emitted light from the light source.

  • Patent number: 10174495
Abstract: A device for detecting the presence of hydrocarbon fluid in runoff water includes an outer canister and a cartridge situated within the outer canister. The cartridge includes a pre-filter, at least one containment vessel, a diffuser/separator member situated within the containment vessel, a hydrocarbon fluid accumulator and an electronic circuit. The diffuser/separator member slows the flow of runoff water entering the containment vessel so that oil in the runoff water separates from and rises to the surface of the water where it accumulates in the hydrocarbon fluid accumulator. A sensor situated in the hydrocarbon fluid accumulator detects the accumulated oil and sends a signal to the electronic circuit which, in turn, closes a valve and prevents water from flowing through an egress opening in the outer canister.

  • Patent number: 10127785
Abstract: A sensor package is disclosed that includes a compass and/or an accelerometer. The compass may be activated by a microcontroller in response to an indication of movement detected by an accelerometer. The compass's data may be utilized to determine an orientation for the object such as a door on which the sensor package is situated. The orientation data may indicate that the door is ajar and/or that a second magnetic field is present, suggesting tampering. A notice may be dispatched to a controller for the home security system, a client device, a remote system, etc.

  • Patent number: 10116793
Abstract: A system and method are presented for learning call analysis. Audio fingerprinting may be employed to identify audio recordings that answer communications. In one embodiment, the system may generate a fingerprint of a candidate audio stream and compare it against known fingerprints within a database. The system may also search for a speech-like signal to determine if the endpoint contains a known audio recording. If a known audio recording is not encountered, a fingerprint may be computed for the contact and the communication routed to a human for handling. An indication may be made as to if the call is indeed an audio recording. The associated information may be saved and used for future identification purposes.

  • Publication number: 20180238674
Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for guided installation feedback for an opening sensor. Detected magnetic field strengths of a magnetic field created by a magnet of an opening sensor as detected by a magnetometer sensor of the opening sensor may be received over a time period. It may be determined that there has been a change in the strength of the magnetic field created by the magnet as detected by the magnetometer sensor based on the received detected magnetic field strengths. Accelerometer data from an accelerometer disposed in the magnetometer sensor may be received. It may be determined from the accelerometer data that the magnetometer sensor was not moving and positive feedback may be provided to an installer of the opening sensor, or it may be determined from the accelerometer data that the magnetometer sensor was moving and negative feedback may be provided to the installer of the opening sensor.

  • Publication number: 20180225938
Abstract: A magnet and magnetometer may be integrated into a smart home environment and allow it to be placed into an away mode of operation despite an entry point being semi-open. The disclosed implementations can detect a magnetic field strength and determine, based on the detected field strength, an approximate distance that a moveable partition is open. In some configurations, the presence of a second magnetic source can be detected. A notice may be generated based on one or more signals received from the magnetometer. The notice may be sent to a controller, a remote system, a remote device, and/or a client device as disclosed herein.
