  • Patent number: 6789917
Abstract: A dual mode rechargeable flashlight includes a generally rectangular housing sized to be readily carried and operated in one's hand and having a pair of upper and lower frame members that receive and retain generally planar rectangular panels preferably made of anodized aluminum and which may be of selective colors and have indicia imprinted thereon. An integral charging system within the flashlight housing enables recharging of DC batteries connectable in circuit with a high intensity lamp carried within a reflector assembly at a forward lens end of the flashlight. A modular self-storing blade assembly facilitates connection of the charging system to an electrical outlet. A power pack support housing within the flashlight is accessible through an access door to enable insertion of a 6-volt DC battery power pack connectable in circuit with a high intensity long life LED carried within the reflector assembly.

  • Publication number: 20040129730
Abstract: A non-threatening spray dispenser that can be readily employed without requiring concentrated aiming and firing includes a connector coupling with mounted end cap that connects to an end of an irritant spray dispenser disposed in axial alignment with the end cap. The connector coupling supports a switch mechanism readily operable by the user's thumb while grasping the connector coupling to selectively dispense spray axially from the dispenser. The dispenser preferably utilizes the barrel and lens support end of a flashlight to facilitate use as a flashlight or for conversion to receive a pressurized chemical irritant cartridge, and enables selective interchangeability of nozzle plates of different color exposed surfaces to simulate a flashlight lens, provide a dark, non-reflective color during night maneuvers, or use a bright color so that a subject is readily aware that an irritant spray dispenser is pointed at him.

  • Publication number: 20040114359
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for operating a flashlight using a light emitting diode as a primary light source. The method includes the steps of activating the light emitting diode as the primary light source of the flashlight under one of a plurality of different operating modes and selecting the operating mode using a momentary contact disposed on an outer surface of the flashlight. In the disclosed embodiments, the flashlight takes the form of a relatively small size, generally flat housing having metallic side panels that may be of various colors and have indicia printed on them. The housing has an integral keyring extension enabling an article to be attached to the flashlight or for the flashlight to be attached to other articles, such as the clothing of a user.

  • Publication number: 20030221357
Abstract: A fishing lure and timing light system comprising, in combination a fishing lure made in part of a material capable of emitting light for a period of time after being subjected to a source of light radiation, a portable flashlight having a housing supporting a light source and a power source, and a switch operable to connect the light source to the power source to effect light radiation from the light source, at least the portion of the housing being made of substantially the same material as the light emitting material used in the lure, and the flashlight being operative to subject the lure to light radiation from the light source for a predetermined period of time so that both the lure and a portion of the flashlight housing are excited by light radiation, whereby observing a level of light emitted by the flashlight housing provides an remote indication of a corresponding level of light emitted by the fishing lure.
