    Abstract: A dual mode rechargeable flashlight includes a generally rectangular housing sized to be readily carried and operated in one's hand and having a pair of upper and lower frame members that receive and retain generally planar rectangular panels preferably made of anodized aluminum and which may be of selective colors and have indicia imprinted thereon. An integral charging system within the flashlight housing enables recharging of DC batteries connectable in circuit with a high intensity lamp carried within a reflector assembly at a forward lens end of the flashlight. A modular self-storing blade assembly facilitates connection of the charging system to an electrical outlet. A power pack support housing within the flashlight is accessible through an access door to enable insertion of a 6-volt DC battery power pack connectable in circuit with a high intensity long life LED carried within the reflector assembly.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for operating a flashlight using a light emitting diode as a primary light source. The method includes the steps of activating the light emitting diode as the primary light source of the flashlight under one of a plurality of different operating modes and selecting the operating mode using a momentary contact disposed on an outer surface of the flashlight. In the disclosed embodiments, the flashlight takes the form of a relatively small size, generally flat housing having metallic side panels that may be of various colors and have indicia printed on them. The housing has an integral keyring extension enabling an article to be attached to the flashlight or for the flashlight to be attached to other articles, such as the clothing of a user.

    Abstract: A miniature flashlight includes a high intensity light source supported on a non-conductive battery frame that defines a recess opening outwardly of the battery frame and adapted to receive a replaceable modular self-contained power source, such as a modular battery pack. The battery frame includes a switch side plate which supports a switch slide plate for movement between an “off” position, a first position enabling momentarily closing of a circuit including the light source and battery pack, and a second circuit closing position to continuously energize the light source in response to actuation of an externally exposed switch push button.     Abstract: A baton carrier featuring an attachment assembly that is rotatable with respect to the holder portion of the carrier. The baton carrier can be placed in various angular positions with respect to the attachment assembly on the user's belt. The rotatable attachment assembly simplifies the removal of a baton, as well an enhancing comfort for the wearer, by allowing the user to position the carrier at an optimum angle. The baton carrier of the present invention can also accommodate belts of different widths. In one embodiment, the attachment assembly has an adjustable member whose position along the assembly can be changed to allow belts of different widths to be looped therethrough. In another embodiment, one of a plurality of inserts of various sizes may be selected for insertion within the belt loop of the attachment assembly.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to packaging that is inexpensive, stylish and easily wrapped, and is acceptable to higher end retailers. The packaging of the present invention includes a base having a cavity with a flocked surface for supporting a product, a cover fitted over the base, and a sleeve that is slipped onto the base and the cover. The sleeve may be provided with written information relating to the product. A card for displaying graphical indicia or written information relating to the product may be provided on a bottom surface of the base. The packaging cushions the product, and is durable and impact resistant. Because the sleeve of the packaging may be provided with a perforation and the cover can be removed from the base, the package is easily opened for inspecting the product contained therein and may be readily resealed.

    Abstract: A rechargeable flashlight, having a head end and a tail end, has an incandescent bulb disposed to direct its illumination out of the head end and has a switch accessible at the tail end. The flashlight houses an assembly of rechargeable batteries and a voltage converter that steps up the voltage provided by the rechargeable batteries and powers the incandescent bulb with the stepped-up voltage when the switch is in the “ON” position. When the switch is in the “OFF” position, the rechargeable batteries may be recharged while they are inside of the flashlight, via positive and negative contact rings disposed coaxially about the switch in the tail end of the flashlight. A recharger is positioned to provide current through the positive and negative contact rings for recharging the batteries inside the flashlight when protrusions carried on the recharger housing snap into a circumferential groove provided in the flashlight housing.

    Abstract: The flashlight of the present invention is comprised generally of a flashlight chassis which houses energy cells, a flashlight head which houses a beam adjustment assembly, and an endcap which houses a switch assembly. The beam adjustment assembly and the switch assembly utilize printed circuit boards to support the lamp bulb and switch, respectively. The beam adjustment assembly mounts inside the flashlight head and can only be accessed and adjusted by removing the outer lens retaining ring that secures the assembly within the head. Once accessed, the bulb support of the assembly can be rotated relative to the reflector of the assembly to adjust the light focal length of the flashlight. The adjustment assembly is also provided with a shock absorber that supports the light bulb. In one embodiment, the endcap is provided with a threads to permit the flashlight to be axially attached to an expandable baton.
