  • Patent number: 5240431
Abstract: A waterproof connector includes a female connector housing and a cylindrical packing holder. The female connector housing has a peripheral edge of an opening through which a male connector housing is inserted. The packing holder has a peripheral edge of an opening. This peripheral edge contacts the inside of the peripheral edge of the opening in the female connector housing. The peripheral edge of the opening in the packing holder has end portions formed by partially cutting the packing holder. Recesses are formed in the end portions on the peripheral edge of the opening in the packing holder. Projections are formed on portions of the female connector housing, which portions correspond to the end portions of the packing holder. The projections are fitted into the recesses so as to join the packing holder and the female connector housing.

  • Patent number: 5186657
Abstract: In order to prevent a terminal from being incorrectly inserted into a connector housing, a connector according to the present invention comprises a connector housing 2 being formed by molding resin in such a manner that a flexible locking lance 10 for a terminal 3 is protruded from an inner wall of a terminal accommodating chamber 6 formed in the connector housing 2; a stripping hole 21 of the flexible locking lance and a lead-out hole 14 for receiving the end portion of the terminal are provided at the inner end of the terminal accommodating chamber; a guide wall 16 on which the terminal may abut is provided between the stripping hole and the lead-out hole; a stripping groove 17 is formed in the flexible locking lance 10 in such a manner that it is extended longitudinally of the flexible locking lance; and a guide prolongation 18 is protruded from the guide wall in correspondence to the stripping groove.

  • Patent number: 5186664
Abstract: A female terminal into which a male tab terminal is inserted to make electrical connection therebetween. The female terminal includes a leaf spring having a convexly curved spring portion and forwardly and rearwardly extending flat portions. A pair of engagement pieces extend from the forwardly extending flat portion in the transverse direction through support holes on the opposite side walls of the female terminal. To prevent a load from rapidly increasing in the course of an inserting operation, each of the support holes for the engagement pieces has a forwardly enlarging triangular configuration corresponding to a locus of the engagement pieces resulting from the arcuate movement of the engagement pieces due to the pivoting of the forward flat portion after the male tab terminal is inserted into the female terminal. Alternatively, each of the support holes has a forwardly enlarging sector-like configuration.

  • Patent number: 5141452
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly includes a connector housing, a terminal support and a terminal holder. The terminal support is integrally connected to the connector housing. The terminal support has therein a plurality of abreast arranged passages to receive a plurality of terminals. The terminal holder has a through bore which is so sized as to receive therein the terminal support. The terminal holder is formed at rear portions thereof a pair of openable portions. The terminal holder is to be incompletely and completely latched to one of the connector housing and the terminal support with the openable portion assuming the open and closed conditions, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5123866
Abstract: An electrical connector wherein terminals are secured inside terminal receiving chambers by virtue of a retaining member. The retaining member has elongated retaining protrusions that enter the terminal receiving chambers so as to operatively engage with and secure a position of the terminals. The terminal retaining protrusions enter the terminal receiving chambers through holes formed on the sides thereof so as to allow the retaining member to be essentially accommodating within the lengthwise dimension of the connector body.

  • Patent number: 5120269
Abstract: An electrical connector capable of achieving proper positioning and redundant retainment of terminals therein by the single operation of attaching a retaining member. The retaining member has salient portions which extend into chambers holding the terminals. Upon attachment, the retaining member is constrained to move, from a position behind the terminals, in a directin parallel to a longitudinal axis of the chambers. Accordingly, installation of the retaining piece urges the terminals into proper position and engagement with an auxiliary retaining device. In addition, the retaining member can be fixed relative to remaining portions of the connector so as to cause the salient portions thereof that extend into the chambers to provide additional retainment to the terminals.

  • Patent number: 5100345
Abstract: The terminal locking block is mounted to the connector housing in two steps, first in a provisional engagement condition and then in a full engagement condition. In the provisional engagement condition, a stopper formed at the rear inside of the terminal locking block stays out of terminal insertion passages, allowing terminal lugs to be inserted into the terminal accommodating chambers, in which the terminal lugs are held by resilient engagement pieces of the connector housing. When the terminal locking block is pushed down and advanced forwardly into the full engagement condition, the stopper is situated immediately behind protrusions of the terminal lugs, thus securely locking them. When it is desired to remove the terminal lugs from the connector housing, the terminal locking block is retracted to the provisional engagement condition and the resilient engagement piece is pried open by a jig to disengage the terminal lug.
