Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of effectively preventing opening of a shutter and damage of a disc therewithin, even when any unexpected shock is suddenly applied to the disc cartridge during non-use of the disc cartridge. The disc cartridge includes a connection mechanism for operatively connecting each of the actuators for releasably locking the shutter, to each of disc receivers, and which is constituted by a guide groove provided in the actuator and formed into a substantially sideways U-shape, and a guide pin provided on the disc receiver and movably positioned in the guide groove.

Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of effectively preventing misoperation. The disc cartridge includes a write enable plug, a display section for indicating operation of the plug and a detection hole which are provided at each of upper and lower cover plates constituting a casing. The display section and detection hole of the upper cover plate are arranged opposite to the detection hole and display section of the lower cover plate respectively, and the write enable plug is arranged slidable with respect to the detection hole. Also, the disc cartridge includes a slide button for slidably actuating each of the write enable plugs, which is arranged so as to be operated from outside said casing.

Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of effectively preventing a recording surface section of a disc from being directly contacted by an inner surface of a casing. The disc cartridge includes a casing having a space defined therein. An inner surface of the casing has a rear end surface section which is positioned opposite to an insertion side of the disc cartridge and against which a peripheral portion of the disc is abutted. The rear end surface section is formed into a substantially sideways V-shape so that the disc may be positioned at substantially a center of the casing in a width direction of the casing along the rear end surface section.

Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of not only safely housing a disc in a casing but preventing the disc housed in the casing from being polluted with a foreign matter. The disc cartridge includes a casing formed with a slot and a pair of actuators each having an elongated cover plate member slidably fitted in the slot of the casing in a manner to outwardly projected through the slot. The actuator is provided with an elongated cover plate which is adapted to thoroughly and sealedly cover the slot of the casing.

Abstract: A disc cartridge capable of preventing deformation and outward expanding of a shutter for openably covering windows of casing. The disc cartridge includes a shutter of which distal ends each are inwardly bent into a L-shape and upper and lower cover plates each of which has a U-shaped recess for slidably receiving the step therein and a tongue-like stopper hanging over the recess. The recess and stopper cooperate to constantly slidably interpose each of the steps of the shutter therebetween to prevent any deformation of the shutter.

Abstract: A tape cassette has a case with upper and lower halves and an open space at the front thereof. A magnetic tape housed in the case is wound around a pair of reels. A brake is slidably mounted on the inner surface of the lower half of the case to prevent the reels from being rotated. Part of a spring is attached to the brake. The spring has free ends and urges the brake in a direction. A device for positioning the spring includes a partition wall on the inner surface of the lower half of the case which partitions the open space from the inside of the case. An independent abutment member on the partition wall abuts the free ends of the spring.

Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette including a lower housing section and an upper housing section assembled into a housing, a pair of reels held in the housing and carrying a length of magnetic tape wound thereon, and at least one magnetic tape guide wall provided at the front of the housing, characterized in that said at least one magnetic tape guide wall is formed in one piece with said lower housing section in such a relation that the magnetic tape guiding surface is substantially perpendicular to the outer bottom surface of said lower housing section and that said guiding surface is a matt surface.

Abstract: A tape cassette has a housing and a pressure pad apparatus mounted within the housing for bringing a magnetic tape into direct contact with a magnetic head. The pressure pad apparatus includes a pad, a spring joined to the pad for imparting a pushing force to the magnetic head, and a holding member mounted within the housing for holding the spring at two points spaced from each other. The effective length of the spring is greater than the distance between the two holding points of the holding member.

Abstract: A tape cassette comprises a case including upper and lower halves, each having a pair of parallel side walls and a back wall extending between the side walls, a pair of reels housed in the case on which magnetic tape is wound, and a brake member freely slidably mounted on the inner face of the lower case half, the brake member having a pair of legs which slide on the inner face of the lower case half along the side walls thereof, movable to a position wherein rotation of each of the reels is prevented. A control device is provided for limiting the movement of each of the legs of the brake member in the direction of the width of the case. The control device includes members each of which projects from a respective one of the side walls of the upper case half and is located adjacent to one face of a respective one of the legs of the control device which is opposite to the face thereof which slides on the inner face of the lower case half.

Abstract: A magnetic tape cassette including a protective cover pivotally mounted to the front side of a housing is constructed such that damage to the protective cover, resulting from an undesired contact of the cover by positioning pins of the cassette recording/playback apparatus when the positioning pins are inserted into positioning openings of the tape cassette, is prevented by providing cutouts in opposite end corner portions of the elongated planar main portion and arm portions of the cover.

Abstract: In a magnetic tape cartridge having a detection opening which can be opened or closed with a plug to prevent erroneous erasure of recorded signals on the tape, an indication opening through which the plug can be seen from the outside and a slot through which the plug is positioned as desired are both formed in a first wall of the cartridge housing, and the detection opening is formed in a second wall located differently from the first, in such a manner that the indication opening or slot is selectively closed by sliding of the plug from one position to the other or vice versa. The plug includes an elastic lock member in sliding contact with the inner surface of the first wall. The first wall has two grooves such that, when the plug is in either position, the lock member fits in the corresponding one of the two grooves. The plug is L-shaped along the inner surfaces of the first and second walls, and the lock member is disposed in a recess formed within the plug.

The lock member has means with which to press the both end portions of the spring in place. Abstract: A reel for a magnetic tape comprises at least one boss for forcible insertion which is formed on a reel hub on the contacting to a flange; a fitting hole which is formed in the flange at a position corresponding to the boss and which has a smallest diameter portion smaller than the greatest diameter portion of the boss and a detent portion. The boss is provided with at least one dividing slot and an engaging jaw to engage with the detent portion of the fitting hole at a position where the boss is fully inserted.
