  • Patent number: 11906626
Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods that that mitigate avalanche photodiode (APD) blinding and allow for improved accuracy in the detection of a multi-return light signal. A blinding spot may occur due to saturation of a primary APD. The systems and methods include the incorporation of a redundant APD and the utilization of time diversity and space diversity. Detection by the APDs is activated by a bias signal. The redundant APD receives a time delayed bias signal compared to the primary APD. Additionally, the redundant APD is positioned off the main focal plane in order to attenuate an output of the redundant APD. With attenuation, the redundant APD may not saturate and may have a successful detection during the blinding spot of the primary APD. Embodiments may include multiple primary APDs and multiple secondary APDs.

  • Patent number: 11894955
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a method and system for transmitting a sequence with low peak-to-average-power-ratio (PAPR). A communication system receives control data. A transmitter of the communication system comprises a plurality of sequences which are associated with the control data in the transmitter. The transmitter selects a sequence from the plurality of sequence. The selected sequence is rotated, pre-coded for generating pre-coded sequence. DFT is applied on the pre-coded sequence for generating frequency domain signals. The frequency domain signals are processed and corresponding waveform is transmitted to a receiver of the communication system. The receiver receives the waveform and is processed to extract the sequence from the waveform. The receiver correlates the extracted sequence with plurality of sequences stored in receiver memory to detect the control data. The generated waveform has low PAPR.

  • Patent number: 11888850
Abstract: A communal computing device, such as an interactive digital whiteboard, can become unlocked if a user is near the device. The communal computing device may use a sensor such as a camera to capture images of a person and obtain an identifier from a personal device such as a smartphone. A cloud-based provider that is trusted by both the communal computing device and the personal device may associate both the image and the identifier of the personal device with the same user identity. Obtaining the user identity from multiple, different sources provides a secure technique for the communal computing device to recognize a user without the user directly interacting with the communal computing device. If the sensor no longer detects the user or the personal device is no longer detected, then the communal computing device may log off the user. The personal device may be used to confirm log off.

  • Patent number: 11886260
Abstract: Aspects of a storage device are thermal management of a non-volatile storage device are provided. In various embodiments, a storage device includes corresponding memory locations on two or more dies. Corresponding memory locations on each die form an addressable group. A controller in thermal communication with each of the dies may detect an excess temperature on one of the dies while performing sequential host writes. Upon such detection, the controller may disable all writes to the detected die while continuing to perform writes to the memory locations of the other dies without throttling the other dies. The controller may then reactivate writes to the detected die when the temperature drops below a threshold.

  • Patent number: 11860942
Abstract: Prediction logic analyzes previous data usage activities of a customer process running on a host machine to generate a first prediction indicating that the customer process will request a first data set at a first time. The prediction logic retrieves the first data set from long-term storage and loads the first data set into memory on the host machine in advance of the first time in order to provide the customer process with access to first data set in the memory during a period between the first time and a second time. The prediction logic further generates a second prediction indicating that the customer process will not access the first data set for a threshold period of time after the second time and stores the first data set in the long-term storage at the second time.
