  • Patent number: 8527639
Abstract: Content servers are directed to send messages to network nodes which are used to obtain IP addresses and to receive responses from the network nodes. The responses provide network service information. The content servers collect data based on the responses and feed the data to a routing server. Based on the data fed to the routing server, respective choices of content servers are selected and provided to the network nodes to respond to clients requesting content server addresses from the network nodes.

  • Patent number: 7886023
Abstract: Server selection is optimized using randomness, feedback, and fanout. A central server maintains a vector of server selection probabilities and provides a subset of candidate servers from the vector for the client in response to receiving from a client a request for a server address to provide substantive service. An interrogating node (i.e., the client or DNS proxy) probes the candidate servers and selects a best server based on at least one criterion. The client accesses the selected server for the substantive data, and the selected server updates a counter used to keep track of the number of times the server is selected. The servers feedback the number of times selected to the central server, which, in turn, updates weightings in the vector of server selection probabilities.

  • Publication number: 20090224079
Abstract: A fuel injector includes an injector body having a plurality of body components, including an insert positioned within a second body component. The insert includes a conical valve seat and is attached to the second body component with a plurality of welds each including a stitch straddling a perimetric interface between the insert and the second body component. A remanufacturing process such as for a valve body of a fuel injector includes removing the damaged valve seat from within a salvaged valve body, and forming a substitute valve seat in an insert welded to the valve body with a plurality of crack free welds. Each of the welds includes a stitch straddling a perimetric interface between the insert and the valve body, and the insert may be formed of 52100 steel. Other machine components subjected to axial loading may be welded and otherwise processed in manufacturing or remanufacturing as described herein.

  • Patent number: 7549316
Abstract: Sidestream gas sampling assembly that does not substantially degrade the waveform of expired gases. The gas sampling assembly includes a sample cell portion integrated with a filter portion for separating undesired liquid condensate from respiratory gases to be monitored. The gas sampling assembly is configured to receive expired gases through a gas sampling line, filter undesired liquid condensate from the expired gases through hydrophobic fiber elements and communicate the filtered gases to a sample chamber which is in close proximity to the filter where measurements may be taken thereof e.g., optical or infrared sensing mechanisms. The gases that are substantially free of liquid condensate are then exhausted from the sample chamber.
