  • Patent number: 5374150
Abstract: The invention is directed to a multi-tier parking facility system for depositing and removing vehicles, particularly passenger automobiles. The facility includes parking devices which are arranged in a plurality of levels in corresponding parking spaces. Each parking device has plural comb-like carrying arms for receiving the vehicles. A tier conveyor is vertically movable between drive-in and drive-out areas for receiving and discharging the vehicle at a selected level. The tier conveyor includes a transfer device having comb-like carrying arms. The transfer device includes a lifting device for transferring the vehicles to and from the parking device respectively. The parking devices are horizontally movable on parking rails arranged in the parking space and on travel rails arranged on the tier conveyor. The parking devices are pulled out of and pushed into the parking spaces or boxes by a hauling device which is arranged at the tier conveyor.

  • Patent number: 5256998
Abstract: An actuator includes a housing and a stationary, annular magnet coil to which a reversible direct current can be supplied. A displacement member which partially surrounds the magnet coil is mounted within the housing so as to be linearly moveable. A first pair of permanent magnets is mounted in the displacement member so as to cover a portion of the coil, wherein the north pole is located above the coil and the south pole is located below the coil. A second pair of permanent magnets is also mounted in the displacement member so as to cover a portion of the magnet coil. The second pair of permanent magnets is arranged diametrically opposite the first pair relative to the magnet coil and the south pole of the second pair is arranged above the magnet coil and the north pole below the magnet coil. Thus, when the magnet coil is excited, the displacement member linearly moves within the housing relative to the stationary coil.

  • Patent number: 5251214
Abstract: In a method for transmitting data from a central station to a plurality of data stations via a multipoint connection according to a prescribed transmission protocol, every data station has an address allocated to it under which it receives data and outputs messages to the central station. When at least two data stations request data from the central station, the central station (Z) selects one of the data stations that request data and communicates the address of the selected data station (K1) to the further data station (K2, K3, Kn). In response thereto, the latter modifies its address to the address of the selected data station (K1). The central station (Z) transmits data to the selected data station (K1) that is also received by the further data station (K2, K3, Kn), whereby the transmission protocol is only processed between the central station (Z) and the selected data station (K1) during the data transmission.

  • Patent number: 4761210
Abstract: A method for generating patterned structures on a monolith substrate in micro-mechanics to permit the production of at least two successive structurings with the depths required in micro-mechanics. At least two different, selectively removable etching masks which are etchable by different etching agents are applied in sequence to the substrate. A first structuring or patterning step is then employed after the last etching mask has been generated. A further etching step occurs after the removal of the last etching mask through the use of the etching masks then remaining on the substrate. The removal of additional etching masks and generating further structuring steps are repeated until the number of etching steps that have been carried out is the same as the number of etching masks that had been originally present on the monolith substrate.

  • Patent number: 4654810
Abstract: The time required for several calibration signals to traverse a signal path (1, 2, 3) is determined and compared with a nominal value. The individual calibration signals have different values for at least one signal parameter. Depending on the results of the comparison, a control signal is produced for each value of the signal parameter. Of the intelligence signal, the value of the signal parameter to be taken into account in the determination of the control signal is measured prior to the traversal of the signal path, and the control signal assigned to this value is selected. The control signal can be used in DME transponders to set an exact transponder delay, and in DME interrogators to allow for delay variations in the distance measurement.

  • Patent number: 4504775
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for the controlled supply of loads, in particular portable devices, for example dry razors and electronic flash devices, or also fluorescent lamps or the like, on virtually any d.c. and a.c. systems of different frequencies and voltages, without switching over. For that purpose, the arrangement uses a blocking converter (5) which is controlled by means of two controllable semiconductor switches (T1, T2) in dependence on the current (I1) flowing through the primary winding (n1) of the converter (5) and in dependence on the input voltage (U1) of the supply, in such a way that the output power supplied follows a desired characteristic curve and in particular is constant. If the load to be supplied is an accumulator (2) with a motor (1) connected in parallel, the circuit arrangement can supply either the full motor power or, when the motor is switched off, a charging current for the accumulator (2).

  • Patent number: 4358069
Abstract: The generation of tape tension, based on the capacity for elastic flow of elastomeric incompressible layers, in a tape transport apparatus employing at least one capstan in contact with supply and take-up reels of tape is accomplished by producing a higher compressive force at the point of contact between the take-up reel and the resiliently deformable peripheral portion of the capstan than at the point of contact between the supply reel and the capstan. The difference in compressive forces is brought about by an additional force which is produced by means of a drivable rotating body and is transmitted to the tape reel carriers by means of a cable which is guided over this rotating body.

  • Patent number: 4311215
Abstract: A brake surface is provided for slide coaster sleds in which the brake surface is configured to be an elongated surface of much greater length relative to the width. The braking surface is particularly useful for use on wet slide surfaces because the foremost sections of the brake surface remove the moisture at the brake-slide interface and dry the surface through frictional contact. Therefore, the following brake portions of about two-thirds of the length are available to bring about effective braking action. Preferably, the elongated brakes are formed in a U-shape in cross section with a central groove for containing moisture. Also, it is preferred to have two spaced apart brake surfaces positioned on opposite sides of the longitudinal center line of the sled.

  • Patent number: 4304187
Abstract: A monorail system having a rail surface that is provided for small vehicles traversing an incline or slippery areas, with the surface having a plurality of spaced recesses positioned in those areas to form gripping edges for the drive wheels of the vehicles. The recesses may be of a variety of shapes and positioned in different ways to provide the proper grip. The recesses may be mechanically punched into a separate elongated flat bed riveted in appropriate locations to the rail. The punching may be done in such a way so as to form raised ramp-like edges adjacent the recesses to help with the gripping action. The ramp faces face downwardly in inclined areas. The drive wheels of cooperating vehicles may have elastic treads to help with the gripping action.

  • Patent number: 4220326
Abstract: This invention relates to improvements in a slide support structure. The slide surface is comprised of a plurality of curved and straight segments, joined end to end to form the slide surface. The support includes a plurality of bearer support segments corresponding generally to the slide segments.
