Abstract: A configuration which can easily discriminate a moving wireless (radio) tag from a stationary wireless (radio) tag. The configuration uses an antenna to measure phases of response waves received from a wireless tag. Based on the measurements, the configuration measures changes in distance from the wireless tag to the antenna and detects travel of the wireless tag. Based on the measurements, the configuration measures changes in velocity of the wireless tag relative to the antenna. A wireless tag having a rate of changes in signs of the velocity, of not less than a predetermined value in the measured velocity changes, is detected as being a stationary tag.
Abstract: A layered coating system with enhanced properties capable of protecting an article or a component of an article from exposure to outdoor elements, including UV radiation, extreme temperatures, water, acid rain, other fluids and chemicals; scratching and marring from surface contact; and more. The layered coating system and articles formed therewith are characterized by properties that can include UV-absorption, abrasion and scratch resistance, adhesion to the substrate and within the coating layers, haze and visible light transparency, and impact resistance.

Abstract: A photocurable composition including the following components (A) to (D), (A) a monomer having one (meth)acryloyl structure, (B) a crosslinking agent having two or more (meth)acryloyl structures, (C) an inorganic ultraviolet-blocking agent having a 50% volume cumulative particle size of 1 to 50 nm, and (D) a photopolymerization initiator in an amount of 0.05 to 1 part by weight, relative to total 100 parts by weight of components (A) and (B), wherein a part or all of component (A) is a hydrophilic monomer, and a content of the hydrophilic monomer is 70% by weight or more, relative to the total weight of components (A) and (B).
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a laminate that exhibits visible light transparency and ultraviolet light shielding properties while maintaining an extremely high degree of scratch resistance, and that has all the necessary weather resistance and durability properties for withstanding long-term outdoor exposure. This method for manufacturing a laminate having the abovementioned properties includes: (1) using active energy rays to cure, on an organic resin substrate, an acrylic silicone resin composition having an inorganic component percentage X of 0.2 to 0.8 to form an intermediate layer, (2) dry-etching the surface of the intermediate layer obtained at step (1) using a non-oxidizing gas plasma of a plasma irradiation amount Y correlated with the inorganic component percentage X; and (3) plasma-polymerizing an organosilicon compound to form a hard coat layer on the surface of the intermediate layer obtained at step (2).

Abstract: Provided is a heat dissipation material comprising a mesogen/silicon compound (co)polymer having a number average molecular weight of 1,000-500,000, represented by general formula (1). (Ar is a mesogen group selected from the structure represented by the following formulas. a represents a positive number from 0.5 to 1, b represents a number from 0 to 0.5 (with the caveat that a and b each represent the ratio of each number of repeating units in molecules, and a+b=1). R1 is independently a monovalent hydrocarbon group which does not independently include a C1-8 aliphatic unsaturated bond. R2 is independently a hydrogen atom, —Si(CH3)3, —Si(CH3)2(OH), —Si(CH3)2(CH?CH) or —Si(CH3)2(CH2—CH?CH2)). This heat dissipation material has excellent thermal conductivity, and further shows good thermoplastic properties and has excellent moldability, and hence can be suitably used as a resin material for heat dissipation materials and semiconductor devices and electronic parts in particular.

Abstract: An inorganic particle/siloxane composite which comprises a product of cohydrolysis and cocondensation of (A) at least one compound or product selected from among silicon compounds represented by general formulae (1) to (4) and products of partial hydrolysis and condensation thereof and (B) inorganic particles which, when examined by the dynamic light scattering method, give a volume-based particle diameter distribution that has a 50%-cumulation particle diameter (D50) of 3-100 nm, wherein the number of silicon atoms derived from the silicon compound represented by general formula (2) is 20 mol % or more of the number of all the silicon atoms in the component (A). The component (B) is contained in an amount of 65 mass % or less with respect to the whole product of cohydrolysis and cocondensation. The inorganic particle/siloxane composite has satisfactory compatibility with silicone materials although containing substantially no volatile organic solvent.

Abstract: A coating composition containing (A) 100 parts by mass of a room-temperature-curable resin and (B) 0.1-50 parts by mass of core-shell microparticles that include tetragonal titanium oxide solid solution microparticles in which tin and manganese have been dissolved as the core and a shell of silicon oxide on the outer side of the core exhibits room-temperature curability during coating film curing and exhibits UV shielding properties while maintaining transparency to visible light, whereby it is possible to provide a cured film capable of suppressing discoloration and deterioration of a substrate without compromising the appearance of the substrate.
Abstract: A photocatalyst laminate which is composed of an undercoat layer provided on a substrate and a photocatalyst layer laminated on the surface of the undercoat layer. The undercoat layer contains (A) 100 parts by mass of a resin component and (B) 0.1-50 parts by mass of fine core-shell particles, each of which has a core that is formed of a fine tetragonal titanium oxide solid solution particle wherein tin and manganese are solid-solved and a shell that is formed from silicon oxide on the outside of the core. This photocatalyst laminate is not susceptible to decrease in the photocatalyst function even under outdoor exposure for a long period of time, and is thus capable of providing a coated article that exhibits excellent weather resistance.

The composition contains 50 to 97 percent by mass of (A) a mineral base oil having a 100° C. kinematic viscosity of 1.5 mm2/s or higher and 3.5 mm2/s or lower, a pour point a ?25° C. or lower, a viscosity index of 105 or greater, a % CP of 85 or greater, a % CN of 2 or greater and 20 or less and a % CA of 3 or less; 3 to 10 percent by mass of (B) a monoester-based base oil having a 100° C. kinematic viscosity of 2 mm2/s or higher and 10 mm2/s or lower; and 150 to 400 ppm by mass as phosphorus of (C) a specific sulfur-containing phosphite ester. The composition has a 100° C. kinematic viscosity of 2.5 mm2/s or higher and 4.0 mm2/s or lower.
