  • Patent number: 5851075
Abstract: Disclosed is an ink jet printer in which the temperature detecting circuit 8 is arranged between the thermistor 3 mounted on the ink jet head 2 and the flexible cable 7 for transmitting the signal output from the thermistor 3 to the CPU 30, and the analog signal, which is the voltage value corresponding to the temperature of the ink jet head 2, from the thermistor 3 is converted into the pulse signal (digital signal) by the temperature detecting circuit 8, the digital signal being output to the CPU 30 through the flexible cable 7, thereby the drive voltage of the ink jet head 2 is controlled according to the viscosity change of the ink occurring by the temperature change of the ink jet head 2 itself or the circumstance surrounding the ink jet head 2, by detecting the temperature of the ink jet head 2 through the thermistor 3.

  • Patent number: 5852452
Abstract: A voltage output based on the resistance, which is determined by how a contact member on an adjusting lever is connected to a resistance member on the side of a carriage, is detected as a head gap. The cap advancing/retracing distance during capping operation by a capping mechanism is adjusted according to the detected head gap. Consequently, the capping operation of the cap to hermetically cover a nozzle surface of a print head is performed effectively.

  • Patent number: 5821954
Abstract: In an ink jet recording device selectively operable in an auxiliary ejection mode and a printing mode, dual ejection signal generators are provided. In the auxiliary ejection mode, a carriage is moved to face a flush station and ink droplets are auxiliary ejected from the nozzles in accordance with ejection signals produced by a CPU. Ejection signals for use in the printing mode are produced from an encoder signal which is the output from a photo-interrupter provided in the carriage.

  • Patent number: 5798919
Abstract: In a technique of monitoring whether a physical system is normal or abnormal by continuously comparing a phenomenon taking place in the system and a phenomenon taking place in a model and also in a technique of control adopting evaluation functions using an error quantity in the model, the phenomena in both the physical system and model can be optimized. An equivalent electric circuit to the physical system is produced, and an input is provided to both of the system and the circuit. In this state, the output of the physical system and the reference value of the equivalent electric circuit are compared. The use of the equivalent electric circuit permits solving the problem inherent in the prior art that the time necessary for analog-to-digital conversion and numerical calculations is longer than the time of the actual phenomenon and disables real time simulation.

  • Patent number: 5744728
Abstract: It is difficult to use in combination a technique of detecting a collision of an arm due to application thereto of an external force and a technique of alleviating the degree of impact of the arm by covering the arm with a cushioning material. This is so because if it is intended to alleviate the impact degree, the timing of detection of the generation of the collision is delayed. The disclosed technique is to overcome the relation of the opposing factors by using a visco-elastic material. Particularly, by selecting the viscosity coefficient and the elasticity coefficient of the material in predetermined ranges, it is possible to alleviate the impact degree without excessive delay of the impact detection timing and forcibly stop the arm before the force acting between the arm and the object exceeds a permissible level.

  • Patent number: 5625395
Abstract: A dual ink jet head has an actuator formed from a piezoelectric material that has side A and side B formed with a plurality of ink channels in total. To eject ink droplets from the nozzles in both side A and side B of the actuator using a single power source, electrode pairs for selected ink channels in side A are connected to the single power source and the remaining electrode pairs for non-selected ink channels in side A are disconnected from the single power source, and electrode pairs for selected ink channels in side B are disconnected from the single power source and the remaining electrode pairs for non-selected ink channels in side B are connected to the single power source. By so driving the actuator, ink droplets are ejected from the nozzles corresponding to the selected electrode pairs in both side A and side B.

  • Patent number: 5593577
Abstract: A filter includes a case, filtering material housed within the case, a cover which covers the open end of the case and is non-rotatable relative to the case, and an annular fastener clamping the cover to the case. The case includes a large-diameter portion at an open end of the case, the large-diameter portion including a convexity forming an engagement tab. The cover has a concavity into which the convexity is received to prevent the cover from rotating relative to the case. Moreover, the cover includes a screw thread on the outer periphery thereof. The annular fastener has a screw thread on the inner periphery thereof mated with the screw thread on the outer periphery of the cover. On the other hand, the annular fastener has a small-diameter portion engaged with the large-diameter portion of the case by which engagement and mating of the screw threads the annular fastener secures the cover to the case.

  • Patent number: 4822093
Abstract: A vehicle seat comprising a horizontal seat cushion, a support shaft projecting upward from the seat cushion, and a rotatable backrest secured on the support shaft. The vehicle seat further comprises a mechanism for regulating the rotational movement of the backrest, which can be controlled in response to a detected driving state of the vehicle. The backrest may be immovably retained at a normal position relative to the seat cushion during the usual forward driving, and allowed to rotate to a suitable position during a stop, reverse, or cornering of the vehicle.
