  • Patent number: 4237227
Abstract: A process for preparing D-N-carbamoyl-.alpha.-amino acids by subjecting 5-substituted hydantoins to the action of a cultured broth, cells or treated cells of microorganisms having an ability in asymmetrically hydrolyzing the hydantoin ring in an aqueous medium of pH 7 to 10. The process is suited for the industrial manufacture of D-N-carbamoyl-.alpha.-amino acids which are useful intermediates for the preparation of medicines.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 21, 1977
Date of Patent: December 2, 1980
Assignee: Kanegafuchi Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha
Inventors: Hideaki Yamada, Satomi Takahashi, Koji Yoneda
  • Patent number: 4230869
Abstract: A process for preparing 5-(4-hydroxyphenyl)hydantoin by reacting glyoxylic acid, urea and phenol in an aqueous medium in the presence of an acid at an elevated temperature. The hydantoin of high purity can be readily prepared in good yields.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 16, 1978
Date of Patent: October 28, 1980
Assignee: Kanegafuchi Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha

  • Patent number: 4148688
Abstract: A process for preparing L-methionine by subjecting DL- or L-N-carbamoylmethionine to the action of a cultured broth, cells or treated cells of microorganisms having a capability in asymmetrically hydrolyzing the carbamoyl group of N-carbamoylmethionine. The process is suited for large-scale economical manufacturing of L-methionine.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 28, 1977
Date of Patent: April 10, 1979
Assignee: Kanegafuchi Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha
Inventors: Hideaki Yamada, Satomi Takahashi, Kazushige Sumino, Hirotaka Fukumitsu, Koji Yoneda
  • Patent number: 4094741
Abstract: A process for preparing D-(-)-N-carbamoyl-2-(phenyl or substituted phenyl)glycines by subjecting 5-(phenyl or substituted phenyl)hydantoins to the action of a cultured broth, cells or treated cells of microorganisms having a capability in asymmetrically hydrolyzing the hydantoin ring. D-(-)-N-carbamoyl-2-(phenyl or substituted phenyl)glycines are useful intermediates of medicines and can be readily converted to D-(-)-2-(phenyl or substituted phenyl) glycines known as available intermediates of antibiotics.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 1, 1977
Date of Patent: June 13, 1978
Assignee: Kanegafuchi Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha
Inventors: Hideaki Yamada, Satomi Takahashi, Koji Yoneda
