  • Publication number: 20060166616
Abstract: A tuner included in a digital broadcast receiver tunes a broadcast signal from a transmitter via a re-transmitter. A demodulator demodulates the broadcast signal, and an identification information detector detects identification information of a re-transmission service provided by the re-transmitter from the demodulated broadcast signal. A decoder arranged to decode the modulated broadcast signal, and a controller controls operation of the decoder based upon the identification information detected by the identification information detector. The identification information of the re-transmitter may directly include information identifying a type of the re-transmission service (e.g., a free or charged service) or may include a unique ID number of the re-transmission service, which could be used by the broadcast receiver to determine service type.

  • Publication number: 20050232136
Abstract: An Eureka-147 mobile broadcasting receiver for reducing power consumption and a method thereof is provided. In the present invention, addresses of capacity units carrying service components of a target broadcasting service are determined based on information included in multiplex configuration information (MCI) of a fast information channel (FIC) in a transmitting frame. Based on the determined addresses of the capacity units, a transmitting order number of OFDM symbol carrying the determined addresses of the capacity units is calculated. After calculating, a time region of receiving a synchronization channel, the FIC, the calculated OFDM symbol and an OFDM symbol previously received than the calculated OFDM symbol is setup as a power-on region. Power consumption of the mobile broadcasting receiver is reduced by activating analog circuits such as a tuner and an ADC only in the power-on region.

  • Publication number: 20050078760
Abstract: A vestigial sideband (VSB) modulation transmission system and a method for encoding an input signal in the system are disclosed. According to the present invention, the VSB transmission system includes a convolutional encoder for encoding an input signal, a trellis-coded modulation (TCM) encoder for encoding the convolutionally encoded signal, and a signal mapper mapping the trellis-coded signal to generate a corresponding output signal. Different types of the convolutional encoders are explored, and the experimental results showing the performances of the VSB systems incorporating each type -of encoders. reveals that a reliable data transmission can be achieved even at a lower input signal to noise -ratio when-.a convolutional encoder is used as an error-correcting encoder in a VSB system.

  • Patent number: 6612716
Abstract: A flashlight in which a switch main body may be easily assembled by fitting parts for a top surface of the switch main body to be pushed upwardly for automatically and closely contacting an inside of the flashlight without using any additional element, and a lens is closely fixed to a reflection mirror of a head part so that the vibration may be prevented and the waterproof effect may be obtained, thereby improving the productivity and the reliability of the products. In the flashlight, a switch cover of the switch main body is integrally formed with a semicircular insertion plate, an upper body is formed with cut parts at both sides for matching an insertion plate of the switch main body with the cut parts, so that the insertion plate is inserted along the cut parts as a force is applied to the insertion plate, thereby simply assembling the switch main body into the flashlight.
